Accidental deletion of a phone number from the phone book is a stressful situation that every Xiaomi owner has faced at least once: Whether it is an awkward finger movement, a system malfunction or an error in synchronization, the result is always the same: you find that important information is missing. Fortunately, the Android operating system and the MIUI shell (or HyperOS) provide several layers of data protection.
Before you panic, it’s important to understand that the recovery process depends on where the data was originally stored, most often from Google’s cloud services or Mi Account, and in this article, we’ll look at all possible scenarios for returning information, from built-in phone features to third-party utilities.
Recovery is possible if it hasn't been too long since you deleted it, or if you've been automatically synchronized. In some cases, data can be hidden rather than deleted, which makes it much easier. Let's look at the basic methods that will help you get lost records back into your phone book.
Using the cart in Google Contacts
The most reliable and often forgotten way is to check the Recycle Bin on Google, where when you delete a contact on an Android smartphone, it doesn't disappear instantly and irrevocably. It moves the record to a buffer where it's stored for 30 days, a kind of insurance against random user actions.
To access this feature, you don’t need to search for it in the phone menu, as some versions of the MIUI shell may hide direct access. The most reliable way to use the web version of the service is through any browser. Go to the official Google Contacts website and log in under the same account that is used on your Xiaomi device.
In the web interface, find the Settings section in the top right corner. In the drop-down menu, select Recycle Bin. Here you will see a list of all the numbers deleted in the last month, you just need to tick the boxes and click Restore.

The file can be in the MIUI/backup/AllBackup folder on internal memory or in cloud storage. To import, open the Contacts app, go to settings and select Import/Export Contacts. Next, select Import from Storage.
If you don't remember the exact name, look for files with a date prior to deletion, and after you select the file, the system will ask you whether to save the restored numbers to a Google account, Mi Account, or phone, and choose a cloud account for security.
