Users of Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones often face a situation where important information seems to disappear from view. This can happen after updating the MIUI or HyperOS firmware, random synchronization or simply moving the file to another directory. The standard interface of the Notes app is not always intuitive, and beginners may simply not notice the display mode switches.
In this article, we will take a look at all the possible scenarios where your records may be hidden, including embedded folders, sync settings with your Mi Account, and methods for recovering deleted data. Understanding the logic of your file system and your company’s cloud services will help you quickly localize lost text.
Before you start searching, it’s important to realize that on the Android system that powers Xiaomi smartphones, data rarely disappears without a trace, and it’s often just hidden from the user’s eyes by certain filters or privacy settings.
Checking standard folders and display filters
The first place to look is the Notes app itself, and often people don't notice that they've activated a filter that hides some of the content, open the app and look at the top of the screen, and there may be tabs or drop-down menus that switch the display types.
At the top of the interface, there are often sort buttons. If you're sorted by date of creation, old entries can go down the list, there's also the option of sorting by folder, make sure you're in the "All Notes" section, not in a specific category where you might have accidentally moved the file.
Special attention should be paid to the Favorites section, where users sometimes mark important entries with an asterisk and then forget about it. In some versions of the MIUI shell, there is a separate tab for selected items, and clicking on it can create the illusion of disappearing the rest of the data.

Synchronization with Mi Cloud and web version
One of the most common causes of data loss is desynchronization or account switching, and if your Xiaomi device is synced to Mi Cloud, a copy of all the notes is stored on the company's servers, which allows you to find data even in the event of a total loss or breakdown of your smartphone.
To check, log into your phone settings, Mi Account, and select Cloud. Make sure the slider opposite Notes is activated. If the sync was turned off and you changed your phone or reset your settings, the data might not have time to download to the new device.
The most reliable way to check for lost records is to log into the web version of the cloud. Open your browser on your computer or phone and go to i.mi.com. Sign in to your Mi Account. If there are notes there, they are safe, and the problem lies in the display settings on the device itself.

Recycle Bin and Recovery of Deleted Data
If you didn't find a note in any of the sections, chances are it's been deleted. Xiaomi apps have a Recycle Bin that's protected from accidental deletion, and the deleted files are stored there for 30 days, and then they're destroyed forever.

The first thing to do is clear the app cache. Go to Settings → Apps → All apps → find Notes → Memory → Clear the cache. It is important not to confuse it with Clear Data, as this action will delete all local notes that are not synced with the cloud.
If cleaning the cache didn't help, try restarting the device. A banal reboot often solves problems with the hanging processes of synchronizing or indexing files. After turning on the phone, wait 2-3 minutes for the system to fully load all services.
