Why is Xiaomi TV not Google Play and can it be installed?
Xiaomiβs PatchWall TVs are out of the box without official access to the Google Play Market, which is due to the companyβs policy of offering its own Mi App Store with a limited set of programs instead of a global app store. However, for most users, this becomes a problem β without Google Play, you canβt install YouTube, Netflix, Disney+ or games with a controller.
The good news is that you can install Google Play on Xiaomi TV without having to unlock the bootloader or get root rights. In this article, weβll look at three working methods (including the easiest for beginners) relevant to the Mi TV 4/5/6, P1, A2, Q2 and others on Android TV 9/10/11. Importantly, the procedure does not violate the warranty, but requires care β errors can lead to malfunctions in the TV.
Before you start, check your TV firmware version. To do this, go to Settings β About TV β Software version. If your TV runs Android TV 12+ (e.g. Xiaomi TV Q2 2023), some methods may not work β we will warn you about this separately.
Method 1: Install Google Play via APK (the easiest way)
This is a method that works for 90 percent of users and takes no more than 10 minutes. USB-a flash drive and a computer/smartphone for downloading files, the main advantage is that you do not need to debug. USB or ADB, What makes the process easier for beginners.
Download four. APK-file from official sources (links are current as of May 2026):
- π Google Account Manager (version 7.1.2 or 8.0.1) β depends on the version of Android)
- π Google Services Framework (required for account synchronization)
- π Google Play Services (last stable version)
- π Google Play Store (version 34.2.13 or later)
All files must be archived in ZIP (not RAR!) and written to a USB drive in the root directory. Connect USB to your TV, open the File Manager, and install the APK sequentially in this order:
- Google Account Manager β Google Services Framework
- Restart the TV (required!)
- Google Play Services β Google Play Store
Once you install the last file, the Play Market icon will appear on the menu, and youβll need to log in to your Google account when you first start β use the same one you use on your smartphone to sync your purchases and your app library.
Download all 4 APKs from trusted sources |Put files in the root USB (not in folders) |Format flash drive in FAT32|Disable antivirus when copying files-->
β οΈ Note: If Google Play fails to βNo Internet connectionβ after installation, check the date and time settings on your TV. Often the problem is solved by including the Autodetermine Date and Time option in Settings. β System system β Date and time.
Method 2: Installation via ADB (for power users)
If the first method didn't work (for example, because of blocking the APK installation on new firmware), you can use USB debugging (ADB), which is more complicated, but more reliable - it bypasses the system-level constraints of PatchWall.
- π₯οΈ Computer with Windows/macOS/Linux
- π USB-cable (preferably original from Xiaomi)
- π οΈ Utility. ADB Tools (download from Android Developers website)
- π Four of them. APK-file as in the first method
Steps:
- Turn on Developer Mode on your TV: go to Settings β About TV and click on Build Number 7 times.
- Return to Settings β Additional β For developers and activate Debugging over USB.
- Connect the TV to your computer with a cable and enter in the terminal:
adb devicesIf the device appears in the list, do:
adb install google-account-manager.apk
adb install google-services-framework.apk
adb reboot
adb install google-play-services.apk
adb install google-play-store.apkOnce the reboot is complete, Google Play will be available. This method works even on the Xiaomi TV Q2 2023 with Android 12, where the standard APK installation is blocked.
What if ADB canβt see the TV?

| Custom Recavery firmware | βββββ (difficult) | 30β60 minutes | β Yes. | β Yes. |
Method 3: Firmware custom recaveri (for enthusiasts)
This method is suitable only for advanced users, as it requires unlocking the bootloader and installing. TWRP Advantage: You get full control of the system, including the ability to install Google Apps (GApps) as a custom recap. ZIP-packet.
Important: This method voids the warranty and can lead to a TV blink if you make mistakes, only use it if the first two methods fail and you understand the risks.

Before you run a custom recavator, back up the original firmware through TWRP (Backup option) to restore the TV in case of a failure.
How to update Google Play and Apps after installation?
Once installed successfully, Google Play may not update automatically due to PatchWall limitations.
- Open the Google Play Settings (swipe sideways in the storeβs main menu).
- Select Auto-Update Applications β Only through Wi-Fi.
- Return to the main menu and click on the profile icon β Device Management β turn on the application sync option.
If the updates still donβt work, manually download the latest version of Google Play Store from the APKMirror site and install it on top of the old one (without deleting!). For Xiaomi TV on Android 11+, version 34.x.x or later will suit.
To update Google Play Services, use the ADB command:
adb install -r --fastdeploy google-play-services.apkThe --fastdeploy flag speeds up the process, as it does not reinstall the file completely, but only updates the changes.
What to do if Google Play is not working?
If Google Play has errors (495, 505, RPC:S-7) after installation, use this instruction:
- π Error 495: Delete Google Play cache and data in Settings β Annexes β Google Play Market β Memory. Then reboot the TV.
- π Error 505: Conflict with existing versions APK. Remove all Google applications through ADB:
adb uninstall com.google.android.gms
adb uninstall com.google.android.gsf
adb uninstall com.android.vending- π Mistake. RPC:S-7: Problem with connecting to Google servers. Check settings DNS (Use 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1).
If nothing helps, try resetting your TV to factory settings (but donβt forget to back up your settings!). To do this, go to Settings β Additional β Reset and Reset β Reset all settings.

On Xiaomi TVs with Android 12+ (e.g. Q2 2023), Google Play can be locked at the kernel level, in which case only the firmware of custom recovery with a patch for GApps will help.
