Why Redmi 9C Calendar Notes Aren't Always Deleted the First Time
Owners of Xiaomi Redmi 9C often face a situation where created notes in the standard Calendar application refuse to disappear after clicking the โDeleteโ button. The problem can lie in synchronization with the Mi Account, cached data or features of the MIUI 12/13 shell, which runs the device. Unlike third-party applications (for example, Google Calendar), the Xiaomi system calendar is integrated deeper into the firmware, which sometimes complicates the management of records.
This article covers all possible ways to delete, from basic actions in the interface to radical measures like resetting, and we will also look at why notes can come back after deletion (this is related to cloud sync and MIUI backups), and how to avoid them reappearing. If you tried to erase a record, but it still appears, here you will find a solution.
Method 1: Standard removal through Calendar app
Let's start with the most obvious method, which works 80% of the time, and open the Calendar app and follow these steps:
- ๐ Go to the month where the note is located, or use the search (magnifying glass in the upper right corner).
- ๐ Click on the required entry to open its details.
- ๐๏ธ At the bottom of the screen, tap the basket icon (โDeleteโ) or swipe the entry left/right (depending on the version). MIUI).
- โ Confirm the action in the dialog window.
If the note is gone, the problem is solved, but often users find that the record returns after rebooting or synchronizing, which means that the note is stored in the Mi Account cloud and additional action is required.

โ ๏ธ Attention: B MIUI 14 and later, the default notes sync to the cloud. Even after local deletion, they can recover on the next Internet connection. To avoid this, turn off sync before deleting (see Method 3).
Method 2: Remove via Mi Cloud (Xiaomi Cloud)
If you have a note attached to your Mi Account, you have to erase it from the cloud.
- Open your browser on your phone or PC and go to i.mi.com.
- Sign in with the same account as Redmi 9C.
- From the menu, select Calendar (or Notes if notes are saved as Notes).
- Find the desired entry, click on it and select Delete.
Then go back to your phone, open Settings โ Accounts โ Mi Account โ Sync and update manually (swipe down).
| Problem. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Note returned after removal | Synchronization with Mi Cloud | Remove via the web version of the cloud |
| No "Delete" button. | Read-only note (from a third-party calendar) | Remove in the original application (Google Calendar, etc.) |
| Notes duplicated | Synchronization conflict between Mi Account and Google | Disable synchronization of one of the accounts |
Through the app on the phone.|Through the web version of Mi Cloud|Resetting the calendar settings|I don't delete, I leave it as it is.-->
Method 3: Disabling synchronization before deletion
If the note is persistently recovered, the reason is automatic sync, so to delete it permanently, first turn off cloud sharing:
- Go to Settings โ Accounts โ Mi Account.
- Click on Data Sync and turn off the slider next to Calendar (or Notes).
- Return to the Calendar app and delete the note in the standard way (see Method 1).
- Wait 1-2 minutes, then turn on the sync again.
This method is guaranteed to delete the recording from the device and from the cloud, as it interrupts communication between them for the duration of the operation, if after synchronization is enabled, the note returns, then it was duplicated in another account (for example, Google).
What to do if the synchronization is not turned off?
Method 4: Cleaning the cache and application data Calendar
Sometimes notes get stuck in the app's local cache to reset it:
- Open Settings โ Applications โ Application Management.
- Find Calendar (or com.android.calendar in the list of all apps).
- Click Warehouse โ Clear the cache and Clear the data.
- Reboot the Redmi 9C.
โ ๏ธ Note: Cleaning up the data will remove all local notes that are not synced to the cloud. If you have important records, pre-export them to the file (see Method 5).
Once you clear the cache, rerun the Calendar, and if the note was only tied to the local database, it will disappear, and if it's not, move on to the next one.
๐ก
Before clearing the data, take screenshots of important notes or export them to.ics format via the app menu (if such an option is available).
Method 5: Export and import notes (for backup)
If you are afraid of losing important records when dumping, export them first:
- ๐ค In the Calendar app, click on three dots (โฎ) top-right.
- ๐ฅ Choose Import/Export โ Export (in some versions) MIUI This option is hidden in Settings โ Others).
- ๐ Save the file in.ics format to your device or the cloud.
After exporting, you can safely clear the application data or reset the settings (see Method 6). To recover notes later, use the Import function in the same menu.
Note: Exported.ics files can be opened on PCs using Microsoft Outlook, Google Calendar, or specialized programs like Thunderbird.
๐ก
Exporting notes to.ics is the only way to save them before radical actions (reset, flashing).
Method 6: Radical Method โ Resetting Calendar Settings
If none of these things work, the last thing you can do is reset Calendar to factory settings, which will delete all the notes, events and settings, but return the app to its original state:
- Go to Settings โ Applications โ Application Management โ Calendar.
- Click More โ Reset (or Remove Updates if the Reset button is not available).
- Confirm the action and restart the phone.
Once reset, the app will be as new as it is โ without notes, but without your personal data, and this method should only be used if the note is critical to deletion (for example, contains sensitive information).
โ ๏ธ Note: On some versions MIUI Resetting your calendar settings may cause you to lose your Mi Account binding. After the procedure, check that your account is still connected to Settings. โ Accounts.
