The words โRecommended Apps,โ โPopular for You,โ or โApps from Xiaomiโ on the home screen or on the Redmi menu annoy many users. These banners not only take up space, but also slow down the system, constantly downloading data from the Internet. Worst of all, after MIUI updates, they often reappear again โ even if you have already tried to turn them off.
In this article, weโll look at all the ways you can remove recommendations, from standard settings to hidden MIUI features and even manual editing of system files (for advanced users). The instructions are relevant for Xiaomi Redmi Note 10/11/12, Redmi 9/10/12, POCO X3/X4/X5 and other models on MIUI 12/13/14 and HyperOS. If youโre tired of intrusive advertising in the launcher, read on.
Why Xiaomi is showing app recommendations?
According to Xiaomiโs policy, app recommendations are part of the MIUI ecosystem that helps users โdiscover new opportunities.โ
- ๐ฐ Monetization โ Xiaomi gets money from developers for placing their apps in recommendations.
- ๐ Data collection โ the system analyzes which apps you install to show โrelevantโ content.
- ๐ Linking to a Mi Account โ if you are logged in, recommendations are synced between devices.
In the latest versions of MIUI (starting with MIUI 12.5), the algorithm has become more aggressive: banners can appear not only on the home screen, but also in:
- ๐ฑ Application menu (with swipe up).
- ๐ Search by system (in the search bar on the desktop).
- ๐ Notification panel (in the form of pop-up windows).
Worst of all, some recommendations are disguised as system notifications, such as the โOptimize Your Smartphoneโ banner actually leads to the Mi App Store.
Method 1: Disabling recommendations through standard MIUI settings
The easiest method is to use the built-in options, which is suitable for most users and does not require root rights.
Instructions:
- Open Settings โ Desktop (or Lock Screen and Desktop in newer versions).
- Select App Recommendations (some firmwares call it Smart Recommendations).
- Turn off the sliders: ๐ Show recommendations on the desktop ๐ Show recommendations in the application menu ๐ Personalized recommendations (if any)
Reboot your smartphone.
If your MIUI version doesnโt have one, try an alternative way:
- Press the empty space on the desktop โ Desktop settings.
- Go to the Supplementary โ Recommendations.
- Turn off all available options.
- Return to Optimization โ Security โ Settings (cog icon).
- Turn it off: ๐ Safety recommendations ๐ Personalized Notifications
This method works even on HyperOS, where many of the standard MIUI settings have been changed.
- ๐ฑ Main screen (widgets "For Youยป).
- ๐ Search strings.
- ๐ Menu โOptimizationยป.
What to do if there is no โpersonalized servicesโ item?
Method 3: Disconnect via ADB (without root)
If standard methods donโt work, you can use the ADB debugging bridge. This is the official Android tool that allows you to manage hidden settings.
Step-by-step:
- Turn on Developer Mode: Go to Settings โ About Phone. Tap 7 times on MIUI Version.

adb shell pm hide com.miui.analytics
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.miservice
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.xiaomi.midropOnce you've done this, restart your smartphone.
- ๐ซ Disable system advertising (systemAdSolution).
- ๐ Blocking the collection of analytics (analytics).
- ๐ Background services are being shut down MIUI (miservice).
Important: After the MIUI update, these settings may reset. To return them, repeat the commands.

ADB-They don't require root rights, they're safe for the system, they just shut down unnecessary services without removing them completely.
Method 4: Delete through editing system files (for advanced)
If you're willing to take drastic measures and you have root rights, you can manually delete the files responsible for the recommendations, which is irreversible and can lead to unstable system operation if you do something wrong.
Instructions:
- Install Root Explorer or Mixplorer (with root rights).
- Go to /system/priv-app/MiuiSystemAdSolution//system/app/MiuiAnalytics//system/priv-app/MiuiDaemon/
- Delete or rename (add.bak) files: MiuiSystemAdSolution.apk MiuiAnalytics.apk MiuiDaemon.apk
/data/data/
Reboot the phone.
Effect:
| Deleted file | What's off? | Risks. |
|---|---|---|
| MiuiSystemAdSolution.apk | All banners and recommendations | Some system notifications may stop working |
| MiuiAnalytics.apk | Collection of usage statistics | Uncritically, but may affect the performance of the Mi Cloud |
| MiuiDaemon.apk | MIUI background processes | Possible lags when updating the system |
โ ๏ธ Attention: Removal of system APK-Files can result in loss of warranty and inability to update over the air (OTA). Before the action, make a backup through TWRP Or Mi Flash Tool.
Method 5: Use of an alternative launcher
If nothing works, the most reliable way is to install a side launcher, which will completely replace the standard MIUI interface, removing all recommendations.
The best options for Redmi:
- ๐ Nova Launcher โ flexible setup, no advertising, gesture support.
- ๐ Lawnchair is lightweight, open source, similar to Pixel Launcher.
- ๐จ Microsoft Launcher โ Windows integration, minimalist design.
- โก Hyperion Launcher โ Optimized for gaming smartphones.
How to determine:
- Download the launcher from Google Play or APKMirror.
- Open the app and select it as the default launcher.
- In the settings of the new launcher, turn off: ๐ Google Discover (if available). ๐ Proposals for annexes. ๐ Widgets MIUI (They can run ads).
Advantages:
- โ Complete lack of recommendations from Xiaomi.
- โ Ability to fine-tune the interface.
- โ Improved performance (some launchers run faster) MIUI Launcher).
โ ๏ธ Note: When using a third-party launcher, do not remove the standard MIUI Launcher โ This can cause functionality to be lost (e.g. navigation gestures or themes will stop working).
Method 6: Reset the launcher settings (if recommendations are returned)
Sometimes, after the MIUI update, recommendations will reappear even if you have turned them off, in which case resetting the launcher settings will help.
How to do this:
- Open Settings โ Applications โ Application Management.
- Find the launcher (or MIUI Launcher) and tap it.
- Select Warehouse โ Clear data and Clear cache.
- Confirm the action. Attention: this will reset the location of the icons and widgets!
- Reboot the phone.
After discharge:
- ๐ The recommendations will disappear (but may return through the 1-2 If you do not turn them off in the daytime settings).
- ๐ฑ You will have to reset the desktop.
- ๐ง You may need to repeat Method 1 or Method 2.
If the reset didnโt help, try removing updates for the launcher:
- In the same Louncher menu, click on three-points (โฎ) โ Remove updates.
- Turn off auto-update for launcher in Google Play.
