How to permanently remove the advertising of games in the phone Xiaomi: from simple settings to radical solutions

Owners of Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones often face one annoying problem: game advertising pops up in the app menu, notifications or even on the lock screen. It’s not just annoying — such banners slow down the system, consume traffic and battery, and sometimes lead to questionable sites. Unlike classic browser advertising, it’s more complicated: ad modules are sewn into MIUI firmware, and the manufacturer does not always provide obvious ways to turn them off.

In this article, we'll look at all the methods you can use, from basic settings to deep interventions, how to remove game ads from standard menus, which Xiaomi apps are responsible for displaying banners, and what to do if nothing works. Importantly, some methods require a super-user right or can affect the stability of the phone, and we'll honestly warn you of the risks and offer alternatives.

Note: the instructions are valid for MIUI 12-14 (including global and Chinese versions), but most of the methods work on older firmware, too. If you have a POCO Launcher or custom shell, some menu items may be called differently — we'll give you analogs.

2. Manual disabling of advertising in system applications

Xiaomi is embedding ad modules into standard tools: Security, Themes, Cleanup, Calendar, even Settings, and to remove adverts for games, you need to manually disable it in each of these applications.

Here is a step-by-step guide for key system utilities:

1. Security (Security): Open the application → tap the icon ⚙️ top-right → Choose "Settings» → «Recommendations» → Turn off "Show recommendations».
2. Topics (Themes): Launch the app → go to Profile (human icon) → Settings → Recommendations → deactivate all options.
3. Cleaner: In the app menu, type at three points (⋮) → «Settings» → «Notifications» → Turn off "Recommendations».
4. Downloads: Open Downloads» → «Settings» (⚙️) → «Recommendations» → uncheck all the boxes.

If there is no explicit option to disable ads in some application, try the following trick: go to Settings → Apps → find the right utility (for example, com.miui.cleanmaster for Cleanup) → Notifications → disable all permissions to display alerts.

⚠️ Note: In some regional versions MIUI (For example, for India, the options to disable ads can be hidden, in which case only reset the application settings or remove updates through Settings will help. → Annexes → ⋮ → Remove updates.

3. removal or freezing of advertising services (without root)

If previous methods failed, the problem lies in the background service com.xiaomi.midrop (responsible for transferring files and showing ads) or com.miui.systemAdSolution (main ad module). ADB (Android Debug Bridge).

You'll need:

If none of the above has worked, extreme measures remain: they require technical skills and can lead to data loss or warranty cancellation.

Option 1: Reset to factory settings

Sometimes, game ads appear after a MIUI update or installing questionable apps.

1. Make a backup of the data (Settings → About Phone → Backup).
2. Go to Settings → About the phone → Reset settings.
3. Select “Delete all data”.

After the reboot, don't restore data from the backup -- first check if the ad has disappeared. If so, the problem was in one of the apps or settings.

Option 2: Installation of custom firmware

Firmware like LineageOS, Pixel Experience or Xiaomi.eu (modified MIUI without ads) completely remove advertising modules.

6. Alternative solutions: Launcher and cloud services

If you fight advertising in the firmware itself is difficult, you can bypass it with third-party tools:

Change of launcher

Install an alternative launcher (like Nova Launcher, Lawnchair, or Microsoft Launcher) to replace the standard MIUI interface, where banner ads are most commonly used, and minus: system notifications and app menus can still show ads.

Disabling Mobile Data for Advertising Applications

Go to Settings. → SIM-maps and mobile networks → Transfer of data → Traffic usage: Find MiuiSystemAdSolution, Security, and Themes apps, then turn off mobile traffic for them. This won't eliminate the ads completely, but they will stop appearing when you connect to the mobile network.
