How to remove search history in Yandex on Xiaomi phone: 5 working ways

Search history in Yandex on Xiaomi smartphones (including Redmi, POCO and Black Shark) saves everything from harmless “weather for tomorrow” to sensitive data like “how to recover a password from a bank” that not only takes up space in the device’s memory, but can also become a vulnerability if the phone falls into the wrong hands, and fortunately, it can be deleted in a few minutes, either partially or completely.

Many MIUI users face a problem: Search history continues to show up even after clearing the browser cache, because the data is duplicated in the Yandex account, the Yandex app and the system browser (such as the Mi Browser), and we will analyze all the cleaning methods, from standard to hidden functions that are not written in the official instructions.

If you use Xiaomi with custom firmware (such as Xiaomi.EU or Pixel Experience), some menu items may differ.

Before you start, check the version of Yandex services on your phone. Outdated apps (over 2023) may not support some cleaning features. Update them via Google Play or App Gallery (for devices without Google services).

1. Delete history directly in the Yandex browser

The fastest way is to clear the history directly from Yandex’s browser, which is preinstalled on most Xiaomi smartphones for the Russian market, which will only delete requests from the current device, but will not affect the data in the account.

Open your browser and click on the icon three dots (⋮) In the lower right corner, select History from the menu, and you'll see all the search queries you've saved, pages you've visited, and downloads. To delete individual entries, click on the cross (✕) near every point, for complete cleaning:

• 📱 Slip on Clear History in the upper right corner.
• ⏳ Select the period: Last hour, Today, Yesterday or For all times.
• 🔘 Check boxes opposite Search History, Browsing History and Cookies.
• 🗑️ Click Delete Data and Confirm Action.

Please note that if you are logged in to your Yandex account, your history can be synced to the cloud, in which case, after cleaning the phone, the requests will remain in your personal account – they must be deleted separately (see Section 3).

If after cleaning the story again appears, turn off synchronization in the browser settings: Settings → Account → Synchronization.

2. Clearing history in the Yandex application

The Yandex mobile app (with a search bar and weather widget) also saves your query history. Unlike the browser, there is no separate History section, but you can delete data through settings.

Open the app and follow the following steps:

• 🔍 Click on the profile icon (or avatar) in the upper right corner.
• ⚙️ Select Settings → History of search.
• 🗂️ All your requests will be displayed here. To delete individual records, swipe them left (as in instant messengers).
• 🧹 To clean everything, click Delete History and Confirm.

One feature of Yandex is that if you use voice search (for example, through a widget on the home screen), these queries are saved separately.

1. Go to Settings. → Voice assistant.
2. Select the History of Voice Requests.
3. Press Clear History.

3. Deletion of history in Yandex account (synchronized data)

If you're logged in to a Yandex account on your phone, all your search history is automatically saved to the cloud -- even if you've cleared it on your device -- and you can see it on any device that you log in to, to delete it completely:

From Xiaomi, click on https://passport.yandex.ru/profile/history (opens in your browser). Sign in if you need to. Here you will see all the saved queries from the last months or even years.

• 📅 To delete individual records, click on the cross (✕) near-to-everything.
• 🗑️ For mass removal, select Delete Everything in the top menu.
• 🔄 If you want to disable history preservation forever, go to Settings → Search history and deactivate the Save History option.

Important: when you delete your history through your account, your data will disappear from all the devices you log in to, and it's irreversible, and you can't recover deleted requests.

4. Cleaning of cache and data of Yandex applications

Sometimes the search history continues to show up even after being deleted through the interface, because the data is cached in the phone's memory. On Xiaomi with MIUI firmware, you can clear the cache in two ways:

Method 1: Through phone settings

1. Open Settings → Applications → Application Management.
2. Find in the list Yandex (browser) or Yandex: Search (application).
3. Select Warehouse → Clear cache and Clear data.
4. Confirm action. All application settings (including bookmarks and saved passwords) will be reset.

Method 2: Recovery menu (for power users)

If standard cleaning didn’t work, you can use Recovery mode, which is suitable for Xiaomi with the unlocked bootloader.

• 🔄 Turn off the phone and press the power button. + Volume up to enter Recovery.
• 📱 Choose Wipe & Reset → Wipe Cache.
• ✅ Confirm the action and restart the device.

5. Clearing history in the system browser MIUI

Many Xiaomi users are unaware that the system browser (Mi Browser or MIUI Browser) can also save Yandex search history if you use it as the default search engine.

Open Mi Browser and do the following:

• 🌐 Click on the icon three dots (⋮) → History.
• 🗓️ Select a period (recommended for all time).
• 🔍 Check the boxes opposite Search History and Viewing History.
• 🗑️ Press Clear Clear.

If you want to completely reset your browser to factory settings (along with bookmarks and passwords), go to:

Settings → Additional → Restore the default settings

On some Xiaomi models (such as the Redmi Note 10 Pro or POCO X3 Pro), the system browser may be hidden. To find it, search by settings (the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner).

6. Disable the preservation of history for the future

To prevent Yandex search history from being saved on your Xiaomi, you can disable this feature in your account and application settings, which will not delete the data already saved, but will prevent new entries from appearing.

In Yandex's browser:

1. Open the menu (⋮) → Settings.
2. Go to Privacy.
3. Turn off the option to Save search and viewing history.
4. It is also recommended to deactivate personalized recommendations.

In Yandex account (for all devices):

1. Go to passport.yandex.ru/profile.
2. Select Search History → Settings.
3. Uncheck the checkmark with Save Search History.
4. Click Save Changes.

Disabling the history save does not delete the data that already exists; to erase it completely, you need to manually clear the history (see sections 1-3).

Xiaomi devices with MIUI 13/14 firmware have an option called incognito mode in the browser, which automatically blocks the storage of history, cookies and cache, to activate it:

7. Features for custom firmware (Xiaomi.EU, Pixel Experience)

If your Xiaomi runs on unofficial firmware (e.g. Xiaomi.EU, LineageOS or Pixel Experience), standard cleaning methods may not work, because custom builds often remove pre-installed Yandex services and are replaced by alternatives like Google Chrome or Bromite.

In this case, act as follows:

• 🔍 Check which application is used for default search: Settings → Annexes → Default applications → browser.
• 📱 If it’s Google Chrome, clear the history through ⋮ → History → Clear the data.
• 🔧 For complete removal of traces, use applications such as SD Maid or CCleaner (available on Google Play).
• 🛠️ On firmware-free GMS (For example, based on microG, the history can be stored in the /data/data/. Root rights will be required to remove it.

Note: on custom firmware, cleaning the cache through Recovery (such as TWRP) may cause some system settings to reset.

On firmware without Google services (for example, Havoc-OS), the history of Yandex can be stored in a file. /data/data/ru.yandex.search/files/search_history.db. You can use it via Root Explorer or ADB.

8 Additional security measures

If you want to protect your privacy on Xiaomi as much as possible, it’s not enough to simply clear the story.

• 🔒 Install the blocking of applications for the browser and Yandex services: Settings → Confidentiality → Application lockdown.
• 🛡️ Use it. VPN (For example, ProtonVPN or Warp from Cloudflare to hide search queries from the provider.
• 🔄 Clean the cache regularly DN (DNS-cache), where traces of visited sites can be stored: Settings → SIM-maps and mobile networks → Resetting network settings.
• 📵 Turn off personalized advertising in the settings of Yandex Account and Google (if you use it).

Xiaomi devices with MIUI 14 have a feature called "Privacy Mode", which automatically clears the history when you close your browser.
