Reminders on Xiaomi Redmi are not just an alarm clock, but a powerful tool for organizing the day. Depending on the model (Redmi Note 12, Redmi 10C, POCO X5, etc.) and the version of MIUI (13/14), the ways to create reminders may vary. In this article, we will analyze all the current methods, from standard MIUI applications to third-party solutions with advanced functionality.
Itβs important to understand that reminders at Xiaomi are divided into two types: single (fire once) and repeated (daily, weekly, etc.). Also, some methods allow you to link reminders to geolocation (for example, βremind to buy bread when approaching the storeβ). We tested all methods on devices with MIUI 14 and Android 13, but the instructions are relevant for earlier versions (adjusted for the interface).
1. Reminders through the standard "Clock" app
The most obvious and quick way is to use the built-in Watch app (an icon with a dial), which is on all Redmi by default and does not require installation, suitable for simple reminders with an audible signal.
To create a reminder:
- Open the Watch app β go to the Alarm tab.
- Press + in the lower right corner.
- Set a time, select a day of repetition (if necessary), add a name (e.g., "Drink water").
- Press Save.
β οΈ Restriction: You cannot attach a note or geolocation through the Watch. Use other methods to do this (see below).

2.Using the MIUI Calendar for Note-Based Reminders
The MIUI Calendar app allows you to create reminders with detailed descriptions, repetitions and color tags, which are convenient for work tasks or long to-do lists.
Instructions:
- Open Calendar β press + at the bottom of the screen.
- Choose a reminder (not an "event").
- Fill in the fields: π Time (exact date and hour) π Repeat (daily, on Mondays, etc.) π Note (up to 500 characters) π¨ Color (for visual grouping)
Ready.
π‘ If you are a reminder, then you should be alerted. 10-15 minutes before the event. To do this, select Notification in the reminder settings β Za. 15 minute.
| Function | "The Clock" | MIUI Calendar |
|---|---|---|
| Attachment of a note | β No. | β Up to 500 characters |
| Repeat | β Daily/weekly | β Flexible settings (every 3rd day, etc.) |
| Geolocation | β No. | β No. |
| Color markers | β No. | β 8 colors to choose from |
3. Voice reminders via Google Assistant
If you're too lazy to manually adjust reminders, use Google Assistant, which works even when the screen is locked (with the voice assistant on).
How to set up:
- Activate Assistant with the voice command OK, Google or hold the Home button.
- Say, for example: π£οΈ "Remind me to call my mom at 19:00" π£οΈ "Add to the reminders: buy milk tomorrow at 8am" π£οΈ "Remind me to take out the trash every Tuesday at 20:00"
The assistant will confirm the creation and ask if a repetition is necessary.
β οΈ Attention: Voice reminders sync with your Google account, not your Mi Account. If you log out of your Google account on your phone, reminders will disappear. To avoid this, duplicate important tasks in your phone. MIUI calendar.

4. Geolocational reminders (remind by place)
This feature is only available through third-party apps, as standard MIUI tools donβt. Google Keep or Any.do is suitable for geo-reminders.
Instructions for Google Keep:
- Install the app from the Play Market (if not).
- Create a new note β tap the icon β° Reminder.
- Select Select Place β specify the address on the map (for example, "Supermarket Pyatyorochka").
- Set the radius of operation (50-500 meters).
- Keep a note.
Comparison of popular applications:
| Annex | Free fare | Geo-reminders | Voice input | Offline mode. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Todoist | β (5 projects) | β No. | β Yes. | β Yes. |
| TickTick | β (9 lists) | β Yes. | β Yes. | β Yes. |
| Microsoft To Do | β No restrictions. | β No. | β Yes, through Cortana) | β Yes. |
πΉ Recommendation: If you need geo-reminders and repetitive tasks, choose TickTick. Microsoft To Do is the best option for minimalists (integrated with Outlook).
6.Reminders through widgets on the home screen
To keep important tasks in front of your eyes, add a reminder widget to the home screen, which works with both standard apps (Calendar, Watches) and third-party apps (Todoist, Google Keep).
How to add a widget:
- Click and hold the empty space on the home screen β select Widgets.
- Scroll down the list to the desired application (e.g. Calendar).
- Select the size of the widget (4Γ2 or 4Γ1) and drag it to the screen.
- Set up the display (for example, show tasks for today).
π± Examples of widgets:
- π MIUI Calendar - shows the next 3 events.
- β° The clock displays active alarm clocks.
- π Google Keep β a list of reminders.
π‘
If the widget doesnβt update automatically, check your power saving settings: go to Settings β Battery β Power Saving Mode β Settings and add the widget app to exceptions.
7. Problem Solving: Why reminders don't work?
If you have created a reminder but it did not appear at the appointed time, check the following points:
- π Silent mode: Make sure the phone is not in Do Not Disturb mode (check in the notification curtain).
- π« Notifications Ban: Go to Settings β Annexes β [Title of the annex] β Notifications and activate them.
- π Battery optimization: Some applications (such as TickTick) may be blocked by the system. Add them to exceptions: Settings β Battery β Optimizing the battery β All applications β Find the right one. β Select "No restrictions"
- β±οΈ Wrong Time: Check that the phone has the current time and date (automatic sync enabled in Settings) β Additionally. β Date and time).
β οΈ Attention: On devices with MIUI 14 and Android 13 have a feature called Background Activity, which can block reminders:
- Go to Settings β Privacy β Special permissions β Background activity.
- Find a reminder app (like Calendar) and turn on the switch.
π‘
If reminders stopped working after the MIUI update, reset the settings of the app responsible for notifications (such as βClockβ or βCalendarβ). To do this: Settings β Apps β [Application] β Storage β Clear the data.
