Smart reminders on Xiaomi devices help keep important business, meetings or regular tasks in mind. But not everyone knows that reminders go beyond the standard Watch app. Redmi, POCO and Mi smartphones, as well as the Mi Band and Xiaomi Watch smartwatches, have multiple ways to create notifications, from fast voice commands to integration with the Google calendar.
In this article, weβll look at all the current techniques: how to set up one-time and repeating reminders, sync them between devices, and use third-party apps for advanced features. Weβll focus on the nuances of working on different versions of MIUI (12 to 14) and HyperOSβs proprietary firmware, which has replaced the classic shell. If youβre looking for a way to automate birthday reminders, medication reminders, or work tasks, hereβre step-by-step instructions with illustrations and optimization tips.
1. Standard app "Clock" on Xiaomi smartphones
The basic reminder feature is built into the Watch (dial icon) app, which is pre-installed on all Xiaomi devices and does not require additional installation, and the main advantage of this method is synchronization with the Mi Band/Xiaomi Watch smartwatch and minimal battery consumption.
To add a reminder:
- π± Open the Watch app on the main screen.
- β° Go to the Alarm tab (bottom of the screen).
- β Press the badge. + lower-right.
- β±οΈ Choose a reminder (not to be confused with an alarm clock!).
- π Please specify the date, time and text of the notice (e.g., "Buy milk").
- π If necessary, activate the option to Repeat (daily, on weekdays, etc.).
- πΎ Save the changes with the button Ready.
Importantly, MIUI 14 and HyperOS have updated the Clock interface, so that reminders and alarms are divided into separate tabs, and for repeating events, you can select indivisible intervals (for example, "every 3 days").
Make sure that time synchronization is enabled in the phone settings|Check that the Clock app has access to notifications|Turn off Do Not Disturb mode for important reminders|Update the app to the latest version in the Mi App Store-->
If the reminder doesnβt work, check:
- π Is not activated mode Do not disturb in the sound settings.
- π Permissions for the application "Clock" in Settings β Annexes β Permits.
- π΅ Internet Connection Status (for Cloud Synchronization).

Reminders through the calendar appendix
Xiaomiβs proprietary Calendar app is tightly integrated with the device ecosystem and supports not only events but also convenient reminders, with a key advantage of location-specific geolocation and synchronization with Google Calendar.
Instructions for establishment:
- Open the Calendar app (Date Icon).
- Click on the + icon in the lower right corner.
- Choose a reminder (not an "event").
- Fill in the fields: π Text (e.g. βCall to the customer"). β° Time (exact date and hour). π Type of notification (for) 5/10/30 minute or time). π Location (optional, e.g. "Homes").
Keep a reminder.
Feature: If you use a Mi Account, reminders will automatically sync with other Xiaomi devices (such as a Pad 6 tablet or smartwatch).

3. Voice reminders via Google Assistant or Xiao AI
If you need to create a manual reminder quickly, use voice assistants. There are two options available on Xiaomi devices: Google Assistant (universal) and Xiao AI (branded assistant from Xiaomi, works only on Chinese firmware or in regions with support).
For Google Assistant:
- Activate the assistant with the voice command OK, Google or hold the Home button.
- Say, for example, "Remind me to buy bread tomorrow at 18:00."
- The assistant will offer to save the reminder in Google Calendar - confirm.
For Xiao AI (if available):
- Hold the power button or say "Xiao AI".
- Say the command in Chinese or English (e.g., "Set a reminder for 3 PM tomorrow").
- Confirm creation in the pop-up window.
Important: Voice reminders via Xiao AI on global firmware (e.g. Redmi Note 12 in Russia) may not work, in which case use Google Assistant or manual input.
π‘
If the voice assistant doesn't recognize the command, try to word it differently, for example, instead of "Put a reminder" say "Create a calendar event on..." This increases the chances of execution.
4.Reminders on the Mi Band and Xiaomi Watch
Xiaomi smartwatches and fitness bracelets (e.g. Mi Band 7, Xiaomi Watch S3) support two types of reminders: synchronized with a smartphone and created directly on the device. The first type is easier to set up, but the second works autonomously, even if the phone is discharged.
To create a reminder via phone:
- Open the Mi Fitness app (for Mi Band) or Xiaomi Wear (for Xiaomi Watch).
- Go to the Profile section β Reminders.
- Select Add a reminder and specify the time, text and frequency.
- Sync your data with your watch (usually automatically).
For standalone reminders on the clock:
- Click on the watch screen and look for the Reminder (or Alarma) icon.
- Choose Add and set the time using touch buttons.
- Confirm the preservation (on some models you need to hold the OK button).
π‘
The reminders created on the watch don't sync with the smartphone. If you reset the watch to factory settings, all standalone reminders will be deleted.
Limitations:
- π΅ You can create up to 10 autonomous reminders on the Mi Band.
- π Reminders only work when the charge level is sufficient (below 10% may not work).
- π± Synchronized reminders require a constant Bluetooth connection to your phone.
5. Third-party applications for extended reminders
If Xiaomiβs standard features arenβt enough, consider third-party apps that offer advanced features: repeating reminders at flexible intervals, weather-based, task and note integration.
Top.-3 apps:
- TickTick is a universal scheduler with reminders, calendars and to-do lists, and supports home screen widgets and device synchronization. β Free version with basic functionality. β Integration with Google Calendar and Outlook. β Premium functions (e.g. location reminders) paid.
- Todoist β a minimalist application for managing tasks with convenient notifications. β Quickly create tasks with voice. β Prioritizing reminders of importance. β Limitation on the number of projects in the free version.
- BZ Reminder β a special application for reminders with support for geolocation and repetitive events. β It works autonomously (without the Internet). β Customizable sounds and vibrations. β Interface in English.
To avoid autonomy issues, turn off background activity for third-party apps in battery settings (Settings β Battery β Consumption Optimization).

6. Automation of reminders with Macrodroid
For advanced users who want to automate reminders based on conditions (for example, when connecting to a specific Wi-Fi network or when the charge level is low), Macrodroid is a good application. It allows you to create chains of actions without programming.
Example of setting up a reminder to charge your phone:
- Install Macrodroid from Google Play.
- Create a new macro and select Trigger β Battery β Charge level.
- Set a threshold, for example, of 20%.
- In the Actions section, add a Show notification with the text "Put your phone on charge!".
- Save the macro and activate it.
Other useful triggers for reminders:
- π Geolocation: Remind you of your purchases when approaching the store.
- π Time of day: automatic sleep notifications.
- πΆ Wi-Fi Connection: Reminder to check your email when you get home.
π‘
Macrodroid can set conditional reminders, such as the "Take an umbrella" notification only if the weather forecast is expected to rain and you leave the house.
7 Problem Solving: Why don't reminders work?
If Xiaomi reminders donβt work, check out the following:
β οΈ Attention: On devices with MIUI 13/14 HyperOS has aggressive battery optimization, even system applications can be blocked in the background. To fix this, add "Clock" and "Calendar" to the list.
Checklist for diagnosis:
- π Check if notifications for the application are disabled in Settings β Notifications.
- π Make sure that the date and time on the phone are set automatically (Date and time settings).
- π΅ If you use the Mi Band, check the Bluetooth connection and bracelet charge level.
- π Restart your phone β sometimes it helps restore system services.
- π₯ Update the Watch and Calendar apps to the latest version via the Mi App Store.
If the problem persists, try resetting the app settings:
- Go to Settings β Applications β Application Management.
- Choose a Clock or Calendar.
- Press Warehouse. β Clear the data.
- β οΈ Warning: this will delete all saved reminders! pre-backup through Settings β System system β Backup.
