Xiaomiβs MIUI-based smartphones offer detailed statistics on each app installed, from mobile traffic consumption to active usage times, which help identify βgluttonousβ programs, optimize battery power, and even detect suspicious activity. However, finding the right sections on the menu is not always intuitive: depending on the firmware version (MIUI 12, 13 or 14), paths may differ, and some functions are hidden behind additional settings.
In this article, weβll look at all the ways we look at statistics, from standard MIUI tools to hidden adb capabilities for advanced users, how to track traffic across each app, check which programs drain the battery at night, and even export data for analysis, and highlight the differences between the global and Chinese versions of MIUI, where some features may not be available without additional manipulation.
Where to store application statistics in MIUI
All information about the work of applications in Xiaomi is collected in three key sections of the system:
- π Battery usage: data on the energy consumption of each application, including background activity.
- π Data traffic is a detailed breakdown of mobile and Wi-Fi traffic by program.
- β±οΈ Use time is a screen time statistic (similar to Digital Wellbeing in Android).
It is important to understand that MIUI resets some of the statistics after a device reboot or manual reset in settings. For example, traffic data is stored for the last 30 days, and battery information is only stored for the current cycle of operation without recharging. To avoid data loss, you can use third-party utilities (we will discuss them below).
On smartphones with MIUI 14 and later, the statistics have become more detailed: now displays not only the total time of the application, but also active use (when the program was on the screen) and background activity, which helps to identify programs that are consuming resources invisibly.
How to check the statistics of battery use
To find out which applications drain the battery the most, go to Settings β Battery and Performance β Battery Use.
- π Intake schedule for the last 24 hours or 7 days (depending on version MIUI).
- π± List of applications with percentage of consumption and activity time.
- π Background processes are programs that work without your knowledge.
Note apps marked βHigh consumptionβ β they may indicate unoptimized code or malicious activity. For example, if Telegram or WhatsApp consumes more than 15% of the charge in the background, this is an occasion to check notification settings or update the program.
What to do if the battery is running out too quickly?
| Type of activity | Normal consumption | Exceeding the norm |
|---|---|---|
| Screen. | 25β35% | Over 40% (possible display or brightness problems) |
| Mobile network | 5β15% | Over 20% (check out apps with background traffic) |
| Wi-Fi | 3β10% | More than 15% (possible problems with routers or drivers) |
| Android System | 10β20% | More than 25% (requires firmware diagnosis) |
β οΈ Warning: On devices with MIUI for the Chinese market (e.g., Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G), the battery statistics section may be hidden. To activate it, switch the region in settings to India or Russia, then restart the smartphone.
View traffic statistics (mobile Internet and Wi-Fi)
To analyze traffic consumption, go to Settings β SIM- Maps and Mobile Networks β Traffic Usage (for mobile Internet) or Settings β Wi-Fi β Additional β Wi-Fi Statistics. Here you can find:
- π Day schedule by annex.
- π± Top consumers are the programs that download the most data.
- β οΈ Warnings to exceed the limit (manually configured).
If you use two SIM- cards, the statistics will be shown separately for each. On MIUI 13 and later, you can set traffic limits for specific applications β for example, limit TikTok or YouTube to 500 MB per day.
- Open Settings β Applications β Application Management.
- Select the desired application and tap on Traffic Use.
- Activate the option to limit background traffic.
π‘
If traffic statistics are reset after the MIUI update, install a third-party My Data Manager app from Google Play.It stores your consumption history even after you reboot.
Some models (e.g. POCO F5 or Xiaomi 13T) display an additional parameter in traffic statistics, Background consumption, if you have high values for underutilized programs, this may indicate:
- π Automatically update (turn off in Google Play settings).
- π₯ Cloud services synchronization (check Mi Cloud or Google Drive).
- π‘οΈ Hidden activity (it is recommended to check the device with an antivirus).
Application Use Time Analysis (Digital Wellbeing)
The MIUI Digital Wellbeing feature allows you to track how much time you spend in each app, to open up statistics:
- Go to Settings β Digital Well-Being and Parental Controls.
- Slip on the Control Panel (password confirmation may be required).
- Select the tab Usage Statistics.
Here you'll see:
- π Graph by day with total smartphone usage time.
- β±οΈ Top apps are the programs you spend the most time on.
- π Number of unblocks and notifications.
MIUI 14 has the ability to set time limits for individual applications, for example, you can limit your use of Instagram to 1 hour a day, if you exceed the limit, the system will block the launch of the program (unblockable through a password).
Set daily screen time limit | Set limits for individual apps | Activate Do Not Disturb mode for the night | Check statistics once a week-->
β οΈ Warning: On Chinese-based devices (e.g., Xiaomi 12S Ultra), Digital Wellbeing may not be available, in which case install Google Digital Wellbeing from the Play Market or use the alternative, ActionDash.
Hidden methods of obtaining statistics (for advanced users)
If standard MIUI tools are not enough, you can use hidden system capabilities or third-party utilities.
1.Across ADB (Android Debug Bridge)
With adb, you can get advanced statistics that are not available in the GUI, such as a command to output battery consumption data for all applications:
adb shell dumpsys batterystats --chargedTo analyze traffic, use:
adb shell dumpsys netstats detailThese commands will output raw data that can be saved to a file and processed using Excel or Google Sheets.
Monitoring annexes
Third-party utilities offer more flexible analysis tools:
- π GSam Battery Monitor is a detailed battery stat with graphs.
3. Logs of the system
You can export system logs to MIUI that contain application performance data.
- Activate Developer Mode (7 times tap on the MIUI version in Settings β About Phone).
- Go to Settings β Additional β For developers β Error logs.
- Choose Collect logs and wait for the process to be completed.
Logs are saved in the /sdcard/MIUI/debug_log folder, which can be opened in a text editor or analyzed using Logcat.
π‘
Root rights are required to collect complete system logs, and without them, some data (such as system process activity) will be unavailable.
How to Reset or Export Statistics
Sometimes it's useful to reset the counters -- for example, after a firmware update or to test a new application.
Resetting battery statistics
- Open Settings β Battery and Performance β Battery Use
- Slip on three dots in the top right corner and select Reset Statistics.
Resetting traffic data
- Go to Settings. β SIM-maps and mobile networks β Using traffic.
- Click Reset Data and confirm the action.
Exports of statistics
Unfortunately, MIUI does not provide a built-in tool for exporting statistics to a file.
- πΈ Take screenshots of the data and save it to Google Drive.
- π Use ADB to upload raw data (as described above).
- π± Install third-party applications (e.g. Battery Historian) that are able to export reports to CSV.
β οΈ Warning: On devices with MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition and later resetting battery statistics may lead to a temporary decrease in data accuracy. The system will need 1-2 charge/discharge cycles to show the correct percentages again.
Frequent problems and their solutions
When working with statistics of applications on Xiaomi, users often face the following problems:
Statistics are not updated
If the data on the battery or traffic is frozen and does not change:
- π Reset the device.
- π± Check if the statistics collection is turned off in Settings β Battery β Three points β Settings β Collection of usage data.
- π§ Update MIUI to the latest version (old firmwares have data display bugs).
2.There is no section on βDigital well-beingβ
On some models (especially with Chinese firmware), this section may be hidden.
- π Change the device region to India or Europe in Settings β Additional β Region.
- π₯ Install Google Digital Wellbeing from the Play Market.
- π§ Reset settings via Settings β About Phone β Reset settings (data will not be deleted, but menus may appear).
3. Data mismatch with the operator
If MIUI traffic statistics are very different from mobile operator data:
- π‘ Check whether the operator considers traffic before connecting to the network (for example, when roaming).
- π Reset the traffic counters and monitor your consumption throughout the day.
- π± Install a third-party monitoring app (like My Data Manager) and compare metrics.
4. High battery consumption by system processes
If the statistics are the leading batteries Android System, MIUI Daemon or Mediaserver:
- π Check your device for viruses using Malwarebytes or Dr.Web.
- π± Turn off automatic multimedia download in messengers (WhatsApp, Telegram).
- π§ Perform a cache reset via Settings β Memory β Clear cache.
