Ever wonder how many hours a day it takes to scroll through social media or watch videos on Xiaomi? Modern smartphones donโt just track activity โ they give detailed statistics on each app, screen unlock rate, and even compare your performance to previous weeks. In this article, weโll look at all the available ways to check phone usage time on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices โ from built-in MIUI tools to hidden features and third-party apps.
Itโs important to understand that usage time data is collected automatically, but its accuracy depends on several factors: the version of the MIUI, the model of the smartphone and even whether you turned off the device. For example, on the Xiaomi 13 Pro with MIUI 14, statistics can be updated in real time, whereas on the budget Redmi Note 10 with MIUI 12.5, manual updates are sometimes required. We took these nuances into account and prepared instructions that work on 95% of Xiaomi devices released after 2018.
If you want to not only look at statistics, but also limit time in certain apps (like TikTok or Instagram), there's a section at the end of this article with parental controls and limits settings, and for those who like to analyze data, we've added ways to export statistics to Excel and compare them to other users.
1. Built-in statistics in MIUI: Digital Wellbeing
The easiest and most reliable way to do this is to use the built-in Digital Wellbeing tool that is available on all Xiaomi smartphones with MIUI 10 and up, which not only shows the total usage time, but also breaks it down by application, and displays the number of screen unlocks and notifications.
To open up the statistics:
- Go to Settings (the gear icon on the main screen).
- Select Digital Well-Being and Parental Control (some models may simply refer to Digital Well-Being).
- Slip on the Control Panel or Usage Statistics.
- Here you will see a pie chart with the distribution of time by application for today, as well as graphs for the week.
Note that if you use Xiaomi with MIUI for Global ROM, the interface may be slightly different from the Chinese version. For example, on POCO F5, the path will be: Settings โ Applications โ Time of Use. To avoid confusion, remember to look for an hourglass icon or a graphic.

This section also includes Focus Mode, which temporarily blocks distracting apps, which is useful if you want to focus on work or school, such as setting up automatic focus mode from 9:00 to 18:00 on weekdays.
โ ๏ธ Attention: If you reset your phone to factory settings, the Digital Wellbeing statistics are reset. To avoid this, export your data regularly (for more on this in the export section).
2. Hidden statistics in MIUI settings (for advanced)
Few people know, but MIUI has a hidden section with advanced statistics that shows not only usage time, but also clock activity, and background data, which works on most devices, but the path to it may vary depending on the firmware version.
Instructions for access:
- Open the Settings.
- Go to About Phone (usually at the bottom of the list).
- Tap the MIUI version 7 times in a row until the message โYou are a developer!โ appears.
- Go back to the main Settings menu and find a new section for developers.
- Inside it, scroll down and select Usage Statistics or Screen Time.
Here you will find more detailed information, including:
- ๐ Activity schedule by hour (peak hours of use).
- ๐ Background time for each application.
- ๐ฑ System process statistics (e.g. how long it took to use com.android.systemui).
This method shows data that is not displayed in standard Digital Wellbeing, including the running time of service applications (e.g. Google Play Services or MIUI Daemon).
What if there is no section for developers?
3. Use of Google Digital Wellbeing (for devices with Google services)
If your Xiaomi has Google services installed (which is typical for global versions of MIUI), you can use an alternative tool, Google Digital Wellbeing, which is integrated into the system and duplicates some of the features of the built-in tool, but has its own features.
How to open it:
- Run Settings.
- Go to Google. โ Digital Well-Being and Parental Control.
- Stick it on the control panel.
The benefits of Google Digital Wellbeing:
- ๐ More detailed statistics on notifications (how many notifications came from each application).
- ๐ Ability to compare data for different days (for example, weekdays vs weekends).
- ๐ก๏ธ Application Timer feature that automatically blocks the application after the limit has expired.
However, there are drawbacks: this tool does not take into account system processes (for example, operating time). MIUI Launcher, and may conflict with Xiaomiโs built-in Digital Wellbeing. If you notice discrepancies in data, choose the native tool from the company. MIUI.

4. Third-party applications for time-of-use analysis
If built-in tools aren't enough, you can install specialized apps from Google Play, which offer advanced features: data export, widgets to the home screen, and even tips to reduce dependence on gadgets.-3 tested applications:
| Annex | Features | Cons | Reference |
|---|---|---|---|
| ActionDash | ๐ Main screen widgets ๐ Exports to CSV/Excel ๐ Comparison with other users | Premium version for advanced statistics | Google Play |
| StayFree | ๐ History 30.+ days ๐ ๏ธ Set limits by category (social networks, games, etc.) ๐ฑ Lightweight (does not load the system) | Advertising in the free version | Google Play |
| QualityTime | ๐ Detailed reports by day/week ๐ The โDigital detoxโ regime" ๐ค Exports to PDF | A complex interface for beginners | Google Play |
Before installing, check the appโs permissions: it must request access to usage statistics (in Android settings, this is called Special Services). If the app requests access to SMS or contacts, it is suspicious and may indicate malware.
โ ๏ธ Note: Some applications (such as ActionDash) may conflict with the built-in Digital Wellbeing if both tools are active at the same time.
5. How to export statistics for analysis
If you keep a productivity journal or you want to analyze data in Excel, you can export usage time statistics, which works for both embedded tools and third-party applications.
Exports from Digital Wellbeing (MIUI):
- Open the Settings. โ Digital well-being.
- Slap the icon. โฎ (three points) in upper right corner.
- Select Data Export.
- Specify the period (day/week/month) and format (CSV or PDF).
- The file will be saved in the Download or MIUI folder.
Export from Google Digital Wellbeing:
- Open the Settings. โ Google โ Digital well-being.
- Slip on the profile avatar in the upper right corner.
- Select Data Management โ Export of data.
- Confirm the export - the file will be sent to your Gmail.
Exported data can be opened in Excel or Google Sheets to chart, for example, you can analyze which days of the week you spend more time on social networks, or compare activity before and after setting limits.
๐ก
To automate the collection of statistics, set up weekly data export to the cloud (for example, in Google Drive).
6. Limit setting and parental controls
Knowing when to use is just the first step, and to really reduce your phone dependency, you can set limits on apps or activate parental controls (helpful if you want to limit your childโs time in play).
How to set limits in MIUI:
- Discover Digital Well-Being โ Control panel.
- Select the app you want to set the limit on (like YouTube).
- Slap the icon. โฐ (timer).
- Specify the maximum use time per day (e.g. 2 hours).
- Activate the option "Block after expiration".
Adjusting parental control:
- ๐ถ Go to Settings. โ Digital well-being โ Parental control.
- ๐ Create. PIN-code (it will need to be entered to change settings).
- ๐ฑ Select the apps you want to limit (games, social media, etc.).
- โฐ Set a schedule (for example, lock TikTok from 22:00 to 7:00).
If you use Xiaomi with MIUI for China (without Google services), some parental controls may not be available, in which case install a third-party app, such as Kids Place or Family Link (the latter requires Google Play Services).
๐ก
The MIUI limits are reset at midnight local time, and if you want to change the reset time (for example, 9:00 a.m.), use third-party apps like ActionDash or StayFree.
7. Frequent problems and their solutions
Sometimes the usage time statistics may not work correctly, not updating, showing zero values, or conflicting with other applications, and here are the most common problems and ways to solve them:
| Problem. | Possible cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Statistics not updated | MIUI malfunction. Data collection is offline. | Reboot the phone. Check if the settings are enabled. โ Digital well-being โ Settings (โฎ) โ Data collection. |
| Data in MIUI and Google Digital Wellbeing | Conflict between two instruments. | Turn off one of them in the settings. |
| The appendix is not included in the statistics | The application works in the background without an interface. It's excluded from monitoring. | Check the app's settings in Digital Well-being. Update MIUI to the latest version. |
| Statistics dropped after the update | Cache reset system. | Regularly export data manually. |
If none of these methods worked, try resetting your Digital Wellbeing settings:
- Go to Settings โ Applications โ Application Management.
- Find digital well-being on the list.
- Slip the vault. โ Clear the data.
- Reboot the phone.
Once reset, the statistics will start to be collected again, but the previous data will be lost. To avoid this, regularly export the reports to the CSV (as described in Section 5).
