How to Check How Many Hours You Spent on Xiaomi Apps: All Ways

Have you ever caught yourself spending too much time on social media or gaming? or want to figure out which apps are eating up your day? There are several ways to track usage statistics on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones, both built into MIUI and with third-party tools.

In this article, we will look at all the current methods, from standard Screen Time to hidden MIUI functions and alternative applications, learn how to look at not only total time, but also detailed statistics by day, and learn how to adjust the limitations for self-control. Importantly, some features may differ depending on the version of MIUI (for example, MIUI 14 vs HyperOS), so we will specify features for different firmware.

If youโ€™re using a device older than 2020 (like the Redmi Note 8 Pro or Mi 9T), some features may be missing, so alternative solutions from the last section may be useful.

1. Standard "Screen Time" function in MIUI

The easiest way to do this is to use the built-in Screen Time utility, which is available on all modern Xiaomi smartphones with MIUI 12 and later, which not only shows statistics, but also allows you to set limits on applications.

To open it up:

  1. Go to Settings. โ†’ Screen time.
  2. If the function is disabled, click Enable and confirm the action.
  3. Choose your profile (or your childโ€™s profile if you set up parental controls).

In the main window you will see:

  • ๐Ÿ“Š Total use time for today/week.
  • ๐Ÿ“ฑ Top of applications by time (by hour).
  • ๐Ÿ”” Number of screen unlocks.
  • ๐Ÿ“… Schedule of activity by day of the week.

On MIUI 14 and HyperOS, you can also set up Application Limits here, so that the system will notify you if you exceed a given time. For example, if you spend more than 2 hours on TikTok a day, the smartphone will remind you of this.

๐Ÿ“Š What version? MIUI You're using it?

โš ๏ธ Note: On some models (e.g, POCO X3 Pro: Screen time can be hidden. To find it, search the settings (the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner).

2. Detailed statistics in the โ€œDigital Well-Beingโ€ (Google)

If the built-in MIUI feature doesnโ€™t seem informative enough, try Googleโ€™s Digital Well-Being.This app is pre-installed on all Google Mobile Services (GMS) smartphones and provides a deeper analysis.

How to turn on:

  1. Open the Settings. โ†’ Google โ†’ Digital Well-Being and Parental Control.
  2. Click the Control Panel (or Usage Report).
  3. Choose a day (today/yesterday) or a week to analyze.

Advantages of this method:

  • ๐Ÿ“ˆ Activity schedules by hour.
  • ๐Ÿ›‘ Application Timer โ€“ a strict time limit (the application will be blocked after the limit expires).
  • ๐ŸŒ™ Sleep Time โ€“ automatically turns on Do Not Disturb and gray screen at specified hours.
  • ๐Ÿ“ต Notification statistics (how many times you opened the app after a push notification).

Note: Digital well-being takes into account all activities, including browser and system applications, whereas Screen time in MIUI sometimes misses background activity.

๐Ÿ’ก

If the statistics in Digital Well-being are not updated, check if data sync is enabled in your Google account settings.

3. Hidden Battery Use function to analyze activity

Few people know, but MIUI has a hidden way of looking at application activity times through battery statistics, which works even on older models (like the Redmi Note 7) and doesnโ€™t require any additional installations.

Instructions:

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Battery and Performance โ†’ Battery Use.
  2. Press the badge. โ‹ฎ (three dots) in the upper right corner and select Usage Statistics.
  3. Scroll down to the Application Use section.

Here you'll see:

  • โฑ๏ธ Time in the background and on the screen for each application.
  • ๐Ÿ”‹ The percentage of battery charge it spent.
  • ๐Ÿ“Š Activity schedule for the last 24 hours.

This method is less convenient for analyzing habits, but it is useful if you want to understand which apps are draining the battery even in the background. For example, if Facebook shows 4 hours of activity but you havenโ€™t used it, this is a sign that the app is running in the background and consuming resources.

4.How to look at statistics for past days or weeks

By default, MIUI and Digital Well-being only show data for the current day or week, but there's a way to keep the story going for a long time, and that's by turning on the archiving of the statistics.

For Screen Time:

  1. Open the Settings. โ†’ Screen time. โ†’ โ‹ฎ โ†’ Settings.
  2. Enable the option to save usage history.
  3. Choose a storage period (up to 3 months).

For Digital Well-Being:

  • The story is saved automatically, but only available for the last 7 days.
  • To export data, click โ‹ฎ โ†’ Export the data (the file will be saved to the CSV).

If you want statistics for a longer period (e.g., a year), use third-party apps like ActionDash or Digital Wellbeing (see section 5).

  • ๐Ÿ“… Preserve history for an unlimited period of time.
  • ๐Ÿ“Š Compare data by week/month.
  • ๐Ÿ“ค Exporting reports to Excel or Google Sheets.

โš ๏ธ Note: On smartphones with HyperOS (e.g. Xiaomi 14 or Redmi) K70) Archiving statistics can be disabled by default due to system optimization. Turn it on manually as described above.

5. Third-party applications for advanced analysis

If built-in tools aren't enough, try specialized tools that offer more features, from detailed analytics to blocking distracting applications.

Top.-3 apps:

  1. ActionDash (free, with premium features) ๐Ÿ“Š Shows the history of use for any period. ๐Ÿ›‘ Blocks applications on schedule. ๐Ÿ“ฑ Tracks the time of unlocking the screen.
  2. Digital Wellbeing (by Google) (alternative client) ๐Ÿ”„ Synchronize with Digital Well-Being Data. ๐Ÿ“ˆ Offers a widget for the main screen. ๐ŸŒ It works without rooting.

StayFree

  • โฐ Set strict limits with a lockdown.
  • ๐Ÿ“ด Monitors usage without internet connection.
  • ๐Ÿ“ค Exporting data to CSV/PDF.

Features for older Xiaomi models (up to MIUI 12)

If you have a smartphone from 2019 or older (e.g. Xiaomi Mi A2, Redmi Note 5), the built-in features may not be available.

  • ๐Ÿ”„ Googleโ€™s Digital Well-Being โ€“ It Works on All Android 9 Devices+.
  • โš™๏ธ Install the Xposed Framework (requires root rights) and App Usage for detailed statistics.
  • ๐Ÿ“ฑ Check the Settings. โ†’ Accounts. โ†’ Google โ†’ Digital Well-Being โ€“ Sometimes the Way to Function is Hidden.

For Android 8.1 and below models (e.g. Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite):

  • ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Install the Old Version of Digital Wellbeing (APK You can find it on APKMirror).
  • ๐Ÿ“Š Use App Usage (requires) ADB unlock).
