Xiaomi smartphone owners often use Yandex as their primary surfing tool thanks to its fast work and built-in services. However, the active use of web resources inevitably leads to the accumulation of a large amount of data that the system stores for the userโs convenience. Knowing where this information is stored and how to manage it is a basic skill of a digital user.
Visit history is a chronological list of all the pages you opened in the app, which is useful if you want to go back to an article you read a couple of days ago or find a link to a file you accidentally closed, but if other people use the device, this list can reveal your personal preferences or sensitive data.
In Android, which runs the MIUI shell or HyperOS, the browser's data management process has its own characteristics. Unlike desktops, it's a touchscreen navigation system, and the interface is vertically adapted. Let's look at all the ways we can view and manage that data.
Standard way of viewing through the browser menu
The most obvious and frequently used method is to access the main menu of the application. The browser interface is designed so that the basic functions are in the access template. First, you need to run the Yandex Browser application on your smartphone.
On the bottom panel of the screen, which is the navigation, you'll see some icons, and one of them, usually in the center or right, looks like three horizontal bars or dots, and that's the main menu button, where all the settings and controls are hidden.
When you click on this button, you open a panel where you can find a clock icon among the weather, news and Zen widgets, and this is the symbol that represents your history, and you click on it, and you get to the full list of all the transitions, sorted by date.
โ ๏ธ Note: If you use Incognito mode, the pages visited in it are not saved in the general history list and are not displayed during standard browsing.
Within the list, transitions are grouped by timescales: Just, Yesterday, This Week, etc. This allows you to quickly navigate the time when the page you want to see is open, and by long-term clicking on a specific item, you can highlight it for further action, such as deleting it.
Use of voice assistant and smart line
Modern versions of the browser on Xiaomi devices offer faster navigation options that donโt require deep immersion in the menu, one of which is the smart bar at the top of the screen, which is not only used to enter the address, but also to search the internal data of the application.
Tap the input bar and the browser will offer you a list of most visited sites and recent queries. Often, the desired page can be found simply by entering the site name or keyword from the title, the system will automatically select options from your browsing history.
Another effective method is to use the voice assistant Alice. If you have voice control enabled, you can just say, "Alice, show me your browser history," or "What sites did I see yesterday?" The voice assistant will open the corresponding section or give you a list of recent clicks.
Secrets of Voice Search
This is especially convenient when the userโs hands are busy or the screen is dirty. Voice control on the Snapdragon and MediaTek processors used in Xiaomi phones works quickly enough, with virtually no delays in command recognition.
Managing history on Xiaomi Pad tablets
If you own a Xiaomi Pad tablet, the browser interface may differ from the phone version due to the large screen size. In horizontal orientation, the menu is often hidden in the upper corner, not the bottom, or folded into a sidebar.
To access the story on the tablet, you often use a keyboard combination or specific gestures. Try swiping from the left edge of the screen to the right, which in many versions of the shell opens the side menu, where you also have access to the History section.
Control of the list on the big screen is more convenient, because you can use multi-touch to highlight several elements at once. You can hold your finger on one point, and then touch the other fingers to highlight several more records for mass removal.
| Action. | Smartphone (vertically) | Tablet (horizontal) | The result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Opening menu | Bottom panel. | Top corner or swipe | Access to settings |
| Selection | Long press. | Long press. | Editing mode |
| Search | Voice or line | Keyboard or string | Filtering records |
| Cleanup | The button on the menu | The button on the menu | Deletion of data |
It is important to consider that tablets with Smart Pen stylus support can be assigned special commands. Check the pen settings in the Settings โ Special features section, you may be able to assign a double-press on the pen for a quick story call.
Synchronization of data between devices
One of the most powerful features of the Yandex ecosystem is the ability to synchronize data between different devices. If you use a browser on a computer and on a Xiaomi smartphone, your story can be shared.
To activate this function, you need to log in to your Yandex ID. Click on the profile icon (usually the letter of your name or avatar) in the browser menu. If you are not already logged in, the system will prompt you to enter your login and password.
Once you log in, make sure that the sync settings tick against the History item. Now all the sites you open on your home PC or laptop will automatically appear in the history list on your phone, and vice versa.
๐ก
Use different profiles in your browser to separate your work and personal history, even when synchronization is enabled.
This is especially useful when you start reading an article on your computer on your way to work, and you want to continue from your smartphone. You do not need to search for a link in messengers or send it to yourself - it is already waiting in the recently closed or in the shared feed of stories.
โ ๏ธ Note: When synced, deleting the history on one device may result in its deletion on all other devices associated with that account.
Cleaning and deleting records
Sooner or later, you need to make room or hide your activity. Yandex provides flexible tools to manage your accumulated list of links. You can delete either one particular record or the entire dataset at once.
To selectively delete, open the history section, find the unnecessary entry, and click on the three dots icon next to it (or hold your finger on the title). In the context menu that appears, select Delete. The entry will disappear from the list instantly.
If you want a full cleanup, look for the Clear History button in the history menu (often at the top of the list or in the section settings) and the system will prompt you to select the time range: โFor the last hourโ, โFor todayโ, โFor all timeโ.
โ๏ธ Complete data cleanup
Also worth remembering is the Close All Tabs button, which is in the window management menu, which doesn't erase your browsing history, but it closes all open pages, which is often required to free up your device's RAM.
Frequent problems and their solution
Sometimes users are faced with a situation where the story is not saved, displayed or deleted on its own, most often due to privacy settings or a lack of space on the Xiaomi smartphone drive.
If the story is empty, check whether the default Incognito mode is turned on or if the ban on saving data in the site settings is worth it, and the problem may lie in the overcrowded cache of the application, which prevents the correct writing of new logs.
In rare cases, failures occur after updating the MIUI firmware or the browser itself. In this situation, cleaning the application data through the Android system settings helps. To do this, go to Settings โ Apps โ All Applications โ Yandex โ Clear.
๐ก
Regularly cleaning the browser cache helps to avoid errors in the operation of the history and speeds up the loading of pages.
Donโt forget that antivirus programs built into Xiaomiโs Security shell can automatically clean browser data to speed up your system. Check Memory Cleanup settings to make sure your browser isnโt added to the exception.
