Xiaomi Android-based smartphones are often the object of experimentation with additional services, and Yandex Number Define is one of the most popular. This tool not only shows who is calling you, but also blocks spam, scammers and intrusive advertising. However, users of Redmi, POCO and Mi often face problems in integrating the service, from the lack of notifications to conflicts with MIUI. In this article, we will discuss how to connect and configure the determinant to keep it stable, and also consider the nuances for different versions of the firmware.
Xiaomi’s feature is aggressive background optimization and restrictions on third-party applications, which means that even after installing Yandex, the Identifier can not show subscribers’ names or block late calls. We tested the solution on devices with MIUI 12-14 and HyperOS to give relevant recommendations. Importantly, some steps require manual setting of system permissions, without which the service will work “half-time”.
Why does Yandex Define not work for Xiaomi?
Problems with determining numbers on Xiaomi are usually due to three factors:
- 🔄 Limitations MIUI/HyperOS: The system automatically closes the background processes, including the detector, to save battery power.
- 📱 Lack of permissions: App needs permissions to access call logs, contacts, and auto-run.
- 🔄 Conflict with other services: if Truecaller or GetContact is installed, they can block the operation of Yandex-service.
Another common reason is an outdated version of an app or firmware, such as in MIUI 13 and below, the name-definition may not be correctly displayed due to changes in the Android API.

If your device is running Android 10 or lower, some of the determinant features (such as spam blocking) may be limited due to Google’s policy, in which case we recommend updating the firmware or using alternative methods (we’ll discuss them later).
Step-by-step: how to install and configure Yandex Determiner
The connection process consists of three steps: installing the application, setting permissions and optimizing the work in the background. Follow the instructions in strict order to avoid errors.
Installation of the annex
Download Yandex Number Definiter from the official store:
- 📱 Open the Google Play Store.
- 🔍 Enter in the search "Yandex Number Determiner".
- 📥 Install the application (developer — OOO "Yandex").
⚠️ Attention: Don't download APK This could lead to the installation of modified versions with viruses or broken features.
Configuring permits
After installation, the application must be granted critical rights:
Access to contacts|Access to call logs|Auto-start|Working in the background|Displaying on top of other applications-->
How to turn on:
- Go to Settings → Applications → Application Management → Yandex Determiner.
- Slip "Permissions" and turn it on: 📞 Call logs (required!). 👥 Contacts (to display names from the phone book).
- 🔄 Auto-start (in Settings) → Annexes → Auto-start).
- 🔋 Without battery restrictions (c Settings) → Battery → Choice of applications).
If the name is not shown:
- 🔄 Reboot the phone.
- 📥 Update the determinant base in the application settings (Update the base).
- 🛠️ Remove the app cache in Settings → Annexes → Yandex Definer → Memory.
