Switching to a new Xiaomi smartphone is always exciting, especially when it comes to financial applications. SberBank Online contains not only transaction history, but also tied cards, payment templates, autopayments, and even biometric authorization data. A portability error can result in blocking access or losing important information. In this article, we will examine all the official and alternative ways to transfer an application between devices on Android, taking into account the features of MIUI firmware and SberBank security policy.
The main problem is that SberBank Online does not support manual data export β you canβt just copy a database file or back up through Titanium Backup. However, there are workarounds from synchronization through the cloud to using built-in MIUI tools. We tested all methods on Xiaomi 13 Pro, Redmi Note 12 and POCO X5 models β the results are summarized in the comparison table below.
Important: if you use a corporate account of SberBank or are linked to the SberBusiness system, the transfer procedure may be different, in which case we recommend you to check the details with the bank support on 900 (the call is free).
Preparing an old phone: what to do before transferring
Before proceeding with the transfer, make sure that the old device meets the critical conditions:
- π± Update SberBank Online to the latest version (check in Google Play or through Settings) β Older versions may not be synchronized with new devices.
- π Check the attached devices in the personal account of SberBank: go to Profile β Security settings β Devices, if there are already 3.+ The gadgets, you have to remove one of them.
- π‘ Activate mobile Internet or Wi-Fi β to log in to a new phone will need confirmation SMS or push-notification.
- π Disable two-factor authentication through third-party apps (like Google Authenticator) if it's configured.Time codes may not work on the new device.
Pay special attention to biometrics, and if you used a fingerprint or facial recognition to log into SberBank Online, that data is not automatically transferred, you have to reconfigure it on the new Xiaomi, and the old biometric patterns will remain active on the old phone until you manually delete them.
β οΈ Note: If the old phone has the Loss Lock feature enabled (in SberBank settings), it will automatically deactivate after transfer to the new device. β Security.
Method 1: Authorization on the new Xiaomi via SMS (official method)
The most reliable and recommended way for the bank is to have a clean authorization on the new device, which doesn't require backup and works even if the old phone is lost or broken.
- Install SberBank Online on the new Xiaomi from Google Play or GetApps (the official Xiaomi store).
- Launch the application and select Log in by phone number.
- Enter the number tied to the bank and wait for an SMS with a confirmation code.
- Once you've entered the code, the system will suggest linking the new device. Confirm the action.
- Set up a biometric (fingerprint/face) or PIN code for quick access.
The advantage of this method is a 100% guarantee of synchronization of all data, including payment history, templates and autopayments.
- β³ Authorization time can take up to 5 minutes due to security checks.
- π΅ If SIM-The card is not installed in the new phone, use the push notification on the old device (provided it is still working).
- π At the first entrance, you may need to enter a password from the Internet bank (if it was installed earlier).
β οΈ Note: If you use SberBank Online for business, after logging in to the new device, you will have to re-confirm access via EDS (electronic digital signature.

Method 2: Transfer through MIUI backup (for firmware 12+)
If both phones are running MIUI 12 or later, you can use the built-in Data Migration feature, which not only copies applications, but also their settings, including authorization data for some banking applications.
| Parameter | MIUI 12/13 | MIUI 14 |
|---|---|---|
| Support of SberBank Online | Partial (Settings only) | Complete (including history) |
| Root is required. | No. | No. |
| Transfer speed | ~10 minutes | ~5 minutes |
| It works through Wi-Fi Direct. | Yes. | Yes. |
Instructions for transfer:
- On your old phone, go to Settings β About Phone β Backup and Reset β Data Migration.
- Select Send Data and Wait for Generation QR-code.
- On the new Xiaomi in the same menu, click Get Data and scan QR.
- Select Applications and data, then mark SberBank Online in the list.
- Confirm the transfer and wait until the completion (phones must be connected to the charger!).
After the migration, check the application:
- π Update the data in SberBank Online (pull the screen down for synchronization).
- π Check the safety of payment patterns in Payments β My templates.
- π Reconfigure the biometrics β it is not carried over MIUI.
π‘
If SberBank Online requests a reauthorization after the migration, donβt be alarmed β this is a standard security measure. Just log in via SMS as described in Method 1.
Method 3: Backup through Google Account (with restrictions)
Android offers Google Drive Backup, but it works selectively for banking applications. SberBank Online does not store transaction history or card data to the cloud, but can transfer:
- π Notification settings (on/off alerts).
- π Recent open sections (e.g., the Payments tab").
- π± Linked Device (Simplifies Re-authorization).
How to enable backup:
- On your old phone: Settings β Google β Backup β Turn on the switch and click Create Backup Now.
- On the new Xiaomi, when you first turn on, select Restore Data from a backup and log in to the same Google Account.
- After recovery, install SberBank Online and check if the basic settings are saved.
Importantly, this method does not replace full authorization, and once restored, you will still need to log in to the application via SMS or push notification, but the process will be a little faster, since the device will already be familiar to the bank system.
β οΈ Note: If you use Xiaomi with global firmware (e.g. Redmi Note 12 Global), Google backup may not work well due to restrictions. MIUI In this case, we recommend using Method 1 or 2.
Transfer problems and their solutions
Even when following instructions, users often encounter errors, and consider typical scenarios and ways to fix them:
| Problem. | Possible cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| No SMS with code comes in. | Blocking by the operator or low balance | Try requesting a code through a 900 call or use a push notification on your old phone. |
| The app asks for a password, but it is not | A password for an Internet bank was previously set. | Restore password through Forgot password? in the application or on the website sberbank.ru. |
| Payment templates are not carried over | Bank's restriction on synchronization | Create templates again or export them manually through Payments β History (screenshots). |
| Error "Device not supported" | Outdated version of MIUI or root rights | Update your firmware or reset your phone to factory settings (if root was). |
If none of these methods worked, try an alternative method:
- On your old phone, take screenshots: Card list (Cards β My cards), Payment templates (Payments β My templates), Autopayments (Car payments).
Google Photo
On the new phone after logging in to SberBank Online, restore the templates manually, using screenshots as clues.

Safety after transfer: what to check
After a successful transfer, be sure to perform critical checks to avoid data leakage or fraudulent transactions:
- π Remove SberBank Online from your old phone (if it is no longer in use). β Annexes β Sberbank Online β Delete.
- π΅ Untie the old device in your personal account: Profile β Security settings β Devices.
- π Check out active sessions in Profile β If you have suspicious logins, complete them immediately.
- π‘οΈ Include notifications of new entries in the Profile β Security settings β Alerts.
Pay special attention to biometrics, and if the old phone had a fingerprint input set up, the pattern could have stayed in the system, so that it could be completely deleted.
- On your old phone: Settings β Passwords and security β Fingerprints β delete all saved fingerprints.
- Reset SberBank Online settings (if you do not delete the application): Settings β Applications β SberBank Online β Storage β Clear the data.
On Xiaomi phones with a Snapdragon processor (such as Xiaomi 13 Ultra), biometric data is stored in a secure Qualcomm enclave. Even after resetting, it can remain in the chip memory. If you sell or transfer an old phone, perform a full reset via Settings β Additional β Restore and Reset β Reset all settings.

Never use third-party software to back up banking applications (such as Titanium Backup or Helium) which can compromise data integrity and result in account locking on suspicion of hacking.
