Why Movie Search Sends Notifications to Your Xiaomi TV and How to Stop It
If you have a Xiaomi Mi TV TV, Redmi Smart TV Or the Mi Box started showing annoying notifications from the Movie Search β you're not alone β and this problem became a massive one after the service was integrated into PatchWall firmware. TV) In 2022-2023, not only banners with movie recommendations, but also push notifications that appear on top of the broadcast, interrupting viewing.
Unlike mobile devices, where you can unsubscribe in two clicks, on Xiaomi TVs, the algorithm of actions depends on the model, firmware version and even regional settings. For example, on Mi TV 4S with MIUI TV 3.0 firmware, the path to notification settings is different from the Redmi Smart TV X55 on PatchWall 4.1. We tested all the current methods and collected them in this instruction β from basic to radical (including reset to factory settings).
Itβs important to understand that movie search can be built into the system at the service level, rather than as a standalone application from the store. This means that simply removing an icon from the home screen wonβt stop the newsletter β it will require deeper manipulation of the settings.
Method 1: Disable Movie Search Notifications in PatchWall Settings
The most obvious and safe method is to block notifications directly in the PatchWall interface, which works on most Xiaomi TV models from 2020-2026, but may not be available on older firmware versions (before MIUI TV 2.5).
Instructions:
- On the remote, press the Settings button β select Settings.
- Go to Notifications and Status Line (or App Notifications in English firmware).
- Find the list of Kinopoisk (can be called Kinopoisk or KP.ru).
- Turn off the Allow Notifications (or Show Notifications) slider.
- For reliability, also deactivate the option Sound signals and pop-ups.
If the Cinema Search item is not on the list, then the service is integrated at the system process level, in which case move to Method 2.
Update the TV firmware to the latest version
Make sure that the movie is not installed as a separate application
Check for the βNotificationsβ option in PatchWall settings
Take a photo of the current notification settings (in case of a reset)-->
Method 2: Remove the Movie Search as a System Application (ADB required)
On some Xiaomi TV models (e.g. Mi TV Q1E or Redmi Smart TV A55), Movie Search is embedded in the firmware as a system application with the rights com.xiaomi.mitv.kinopoisk. It cannot be removed by standard means, but can be uninstalled via ADB (Android Debug Bridge).
What you need:
- π₯οΈ Computer with Windows/macOS/Linux and installed Android SDK Platform-Tools.
- π USB-cable (preferably original from Xiaomi).
- βοΈ Developer mode on the TV (instruction below).
Steps:
- Activate Developer Mode: Settings β About TV β MIUI TV version β Click 7 times in a row on the build number After that, the Developer section will appear in the settings.
- Turn on USB debugging and Factory unlocking.
- Connect the TV to your PC via USB, open the terminal and execute: adb devices (should display the device with the serial number).
- Enter the command to remove the Cinema Search: adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.xiaomi.mitv.kinopoisk If a Failure error appears [DELETE_FAILED_INTERNAL_ERROR], Try adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.xiaomi.mitv.kinopoisk
π‘
If notifications continue to appear after deleting Kinopoisk via ADB, check for duplicate packets by adb shell pm list packages | grep kinopoisk. Sometimes the service is disguised under other names, for example com.miui.videoglobal.
Warning: Removing system applications can cause the TV to run in an unstable way. For example, on Mi TV P1, voice search or content recommendations may stop working after uninstallation of Kinopoisk.
What if ADB canβt see the TV?
Method 3: Resetting TV settings to factory
If previous methods failed, and notifications from Kinopoisk appear even after the reboot, the radical option remains: a complete reset, which will delete all installed applications, accounts and personal settings, but also clear the cache of system services, including Kinopoisk.
How to reset:
- Open Settings β System and Reset β Resetting.
- Select Reset all settings (not to be confused with Reset Network Settings!).
- Enter. PIN-code (by default 0000 or 1234 if you have not changed it).
- Confirm the action and wait for the reboot (it will take 5-10 minutes).
After discharge:
- π« Donβt connect your Xiaomi account right away β check if notifications have disappeared first.
- π Do not update the firmware on the first day - sometimes the Kinopoisk returns after the update.
- π± Install only the necessary apps (avoid APKMirror and third-party stores).
Yes, it helped | Yes, but the notifications are back | No, I'm afraid to lose the data | No, I'm trying other ways-->
β οΈ Note: On Xiaomi TVs with PatchWall firmware 4.0+ After reset, you can automatically install the com.xiaomi.mitv.appstore, which will reload the Kinopoisk (Wi-Fi/Ethernet) and remove the App Store through ADB.
Method 4: Block notifications through parental controls
Little-known life hack: PatchWall has a parental control feature that allows you to block specific applications, including system ones. This won't remove Kinopoisk, but will prevent it from showing notifications and running in the background.
How to set up:
- Go to Settings β Parental Control β Enable.
- Create. PIN-code (remember it!).
- Select Application Limitations.
- Find the Movie Search in the list and set the Restriction Blocked.
- Save the settings and restart the TV.
This method even works on Xiaomi TV Stick and other devices with limited settings, but it has drawbacks:
- β The movie will remain in the system and will consume resources.
- β When parental control is removed, the lock is removed.
- β But he doesn't. ADB and safe for firmware.
Method 5: Alternative firmware (for power users)
If you are willing to go to extreme measures, you can install custom firmware, for example, LineageOS for TV or AOSP. This will completely remove all pre-installed Xiaomi services, including Kinopoisk, but will require unlocking the bootloader and technical skills.
What you need to know:
| Model TV set | Supported firmware | Risks. | Reference to the instruction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mi TV 4A/4S | LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) | DRM loss (Netflix at 480p) | XDA Developers |
| Redmi Smart TV X50/X65 | AOSP 12 (Android 12) | The remote is not working (Bluetooth is needed). | 4PDA |
| Mi Box S | ATVXperience | Loss of guarantee | ATVXperience |
Warning: Installing custom firmware will void warranty and may result in a device blink (completely inoperable). Xiaomi TVs with Amlogic processors (such as the Mi TV 4X) have a higher chance of successful firmware than models with MediaTek (such as the Redmi Smart TV A50).
What do you do if nothing helps?
If youβve tried all the ways, but Kinopoisk keeps coming up, there are three options:
- Contact Xiaomi: Contact the support chat (via the Mi Home app or mi.com/support) to complain about spam notifications. Specify the TV model, firmware version and screenshot of the notification. Sometimes after such requests, an update comes that removes the mailing list.
- Use an external console: Connect to the TV Apple TV, Nvidia Shield or even Xiaomi Mi Box (it turns off Movie Search easier), this will bypass the system notifications PatchWall.
- Wait for firmware updates: In the latest PatchWall 4.2+ (2026), Xiaomi began adding the option to completely disable recommendations. Check for updates in Settings β About TV β System Update.

If the Cinema Search appears even after the reset, it is likely to be sewn into the firmware at the service APK level. In this case, the only working solutions are blocking through ADB or installing custom firmware.
