Xiaomiβs Mi Cloud cloud storage is not just a backup location, but a full-fledged tool for syncing contacts, photos, notes and even SMS between devices. However, many owners of Redmi smartphones face difficulties when logging in first: the system requires an account link, asks for confirmation via SMS or even gives out an error βI failed to connect.β In this article, we will analyze all the current ways to open the Mi Cloud on Redmi devices (including the Redmi Note 12/13, Redmi 10/11, POCO X5 and others), as well as solve access problems.
Itβs important to understand that since 2023, Xiaomi has tightened the security requirements for the Mi Cloud: now login can require not only a password, but also confirmation via email or a backup phone number. If you bought a smartphone with your hands or have not used an account for a long time, the process of restoring access becomes more complicated. We will describe in detail every step from basic authorization to bypassing locks so that you can enjoy all the functions of the cloud without restrictions.
1. Basic way to log into Mi Cloud via smartphone settings
The easiest method is to use the built-in Xiaomi menu, which is suitable for devices with official MIUI 12-14 firmware (including global and Chinese versions).
- Open "Settings" (the gear icon on the desktop).
- Scroll down and select Mi Account (or Xiaomi Account in English firmware).
- If you're already logged in, click on the avatar in the top corner. If you're not, tap in.
- Enter the email or phone number associated with the account, then the password.
- Confirm your login via SMS or email (if two-factor authentication is enabled).
- After successful authorization, go back to Settings and find the Mi Cloud section (usually next to the Mi Account).
Inside the Mi Cloud, you will see sliders to sync different types of data: contacts, photos, notes, call recordings, etc. Activate the desired options, and they will automatically back up to the cloud. Note: Redmi with Chinese firmware (China ROM) may require additional confirmation through Mi Community.
Make sure your smartphone is connected to the internet (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
Check if date and time sync is enabled (Settings β Additional β Date and time)
Disable VPN β it can block Xiaomi servers

2.Browser login: if the application is not working
If you have errors on your Redmi smartphone when you try to log in through settings (such as "Server Unavailable" or "Network Error"), try logging in via the web version of Mi Cloud. This is a universal way that works even on locked devices (provided you remember your account details).
Instructions:
- π Open any browser (Chrome, Mi Browser, Firefox) and go to the address: https://i.mi.com/.
- π§ Enter the email or phone number associated with the Mi Account.
- π Please enter your password. If you forgot, click Forgot your password. (more on this in the next section).
- π± Confirm the entrance through SMS or email (code will come to the linked number / mail).
- π₯οΈ After authorization, you will be taken to the Mi Cloud web interface, where you can manage backups, photos and other data.
The advantage of this method is that it can remotely manage files even if your smartphone is lost or broken, for example, you can download a backup of contacts to your computer or delete personal data from a stolen device, but note that some features (such as synchronizing notes) may be limited in the web version.

3. Access recovery: if you forget your password or email
One of the most common problems is lost login details. If you don't remember the password or email attached to your Mi Account, use the official recovery procedure. Xiaomi provides several ways, but their effectiveness depends on what contact details were provided during registration.
Step-by-step:
- On the Mi Cloud login screen (or on i.mi.com) click Forgot your password.
- Enter an email or phone number that might have been linked to your account, and if you're not sure, try all the options you can.
- Choose a Recovery Method: π§ By email - a link will come to the mail to reset the password (valid 24 hours). π± Po Po Po SMS β The code will come to the linked number (if confirmed). π By backup email β if you specified it when registering.
Create a new password (we recommend using a combination of 12+ characters with letters, numbers and characters).
Confirm the change by clicking on the link in the email or entering the code from SMS.
If none of these methods worked, it is possible that the account was created through social networks (Google, Facebook, Twitter). Try to log in through them on account.xiaomi.com. At the very least, contact Xiaomi with proof of account ownership (checks for purchase devices, screenshots of emails, etc.).

4. Solve Mi Cloud login errors
Even if you enter data correctly, the system can produce errors, and let's look at the most common problems and their solutions.

For power users, there's another way to access it, which is through ADB (Android Debug Bridge), which can help if the MIUI interface doesn't respond to commands, for example, to force synchronization, do it on the command line:
adb shell am start -n com.miui.cloudservice/.ui.CloudServiceActivityBut this method requires an unlocked bootloader and enabled debugging over USB.
