Xiaomi TVs (Mi TV, Redmi TV, Xiaomi TV A) have a built-in browser, but itโs not always easy to find one โ especially if youโre setting up a device for the first time. Unlike smartphones, where the browser is usually visible on the home screen, MIUI TVโs location depends on the firmware version, TV model, and even regional settings. This article will help you figure out how to launch a browser on any Xiaomi TV, including when the icon is hidden or missing from the menu.
We will look at official methods (via the main menu and app bar), alternative methods (for example, through search or voice assistant), and solutions for situations when the browser is deleted or blocked. We will separately focus on the features of different versions of MIUI TV, from old firmware 2019-2021 to current updates 2023-2026. If your TV does not open web pages or displays errors, at the end of this article you will find instructions for troubleshooting.
1. Where is the browser on Xiaomi TV: standard location
In most models of Xiaomi Mi TV and Redmi TV, the browser is built into the default system and is available through:
- ๐บ Main screen โ the icon โBrowserโ (Browser) can be in the bottom panel or in the list โFavoritesยป.
- ๐ App menu โ click the Apps button on the remote (usually with a grid image from dots) and find the browser icon.
- ๐ Search โ enter in the search bar (the button Microphone or Search on the remote) the request โbrowserโ or โbrowserยป.
On TVs with MIUI TV 3.0 and later (released after 2022), the browser is often hidden in the Tools or Utilities folder. If you don't see the icon, check:
- Open Settings โ Applications โ All applications.
- Find Browser (may be called the Internet or the Web Browser).
- Click on it and select โAdd to the main screenโ.
Important! Some models (such as the Mi TV Stick or Xiaomi TV Box) may not have a browser due to hardware platform limitations, in which case you will need to install third-party applications (see section 4 for more).
2. How to open the browser through voice assistant
If the remote supports voice input (button with microphone), you can start the browser with the command:
Okay, Google, open the browser.or
Launch a web browserGoogle Assistant (built into MIUI TV) recognizes these commands in Russian and English, if the command fails:
- ๐ Restart the TV (Power button on the remote) โ Reboot).
- ๐ค Check if voice input is enabled in Settings โ Voice assistant.
- ๐ Make sure the system language is set to Russian or English (c Settings) โ Language and region).
๐ก
If the voice assistant doesnโt find a browser, try saying the command in English: โOpen Browserโ or โLaunch Internet Browserโ.
On TVs with MIUI TV 2.0 (2019-2020), voice search may not support browser launch, in which case use the manual method in Section 1.
3. What to do if the browser is not on the menu
If you donโt find a browser in the list of apps, there are three possible reasons:
- The browser is disabled - it can be returned through settings.
- The firmware does not support the browser - an update is required.
- The browser is remote โ you need to install a third-party (for example, TV Bro or Puffin TV).
Instructions for enabling a hidden browser:
- Go to Settings โ Applications โ All applications.
- Find Browser (or โInternetโ) and click on it.
- Select "Enable" or "Show on the home screen."
If the browser is not in the list, check the firmware version:
| Model TV set | Minimum version of MIUI TV for the browser | Is the installation of third-party browsers supported |
|---|---|---|
| Mi TV 4S/4A (2018โ2020) | MIUI TV 1.5+ | Yes (via Google Play) |
| Redmi TV 70"/86" (2021โ2022) | MIUI TV 2.0+ | Yeah (embedded store) |
| Xiaomi TV A Pro (2023) | MIUI TV 3.0+ | Yes (with limitations) |
| Mi TV Stick / Box | โ | Only outsiders. |
How do I find out the version of MIUI TV?
If your model does not support the built-in browser, go to section 4.
4. Install a third-party browser on Xiaomi TV
If the built-in browser is missing or not satisfied, you can install an alternative.
- Go to the Google Play Store (if any) or the Mi App Store.
- Enter in the search: ๐ TV Bro Browser โ optimized for TV, supports remote control. ๐ฆ Puffin TV Browser is fast but requires registration. ๐ JioPages is a lightweight browser for weak TVs.
Install the app and add it to the main screen.
On TVs without Google Play (e.g. Xiaomi) TV China will have to install a browser through APK-- For that, file:
Download. APK browser USB-accumulator|Enable installation from unknown sources in Settings โ Security|Connect the flash drive to the TV and open the file through the File Manager|Follow the Installator's Instructions-->

If none of these things worked, you might need to reset your TV to factory settings. See how to do it safely in the next section.
6. Reset TV settings to restore the browser
If the browser disappeared after the update or crash and other methods did not work, reset. This will delete all installed applications, accounts and personal settings, but return the built-in browser.
Resetting instructions:
- Go to Settings โ About TV โ Reset settings.
- Select โReset all settingsโ (you may need to enter) PIN-code).
- Confirm the action and wait for the reboot (it will take 3-5 minutes).
After discharge:

- ๐ Check the presence of the browser in the application menu.
๐ก
Before reset, record or photograph the image and sound settings (brightness, contrast, equalizer) to quickly restore them after the reboot.
If the reset didnโt help, the firmware might be damaged, requiring manual flashing via USB (see 4PDA or Xiaomi Community forums for specific model instructions).
7. Alternative ways to get online on Xiaomi TV
If the browser never worked, you can use other methods to access web content:
๐ฑ Mirroring (screen transfer) from a smartphone:
- On Android: Turn on Screen Transfer in your phone settings and select Xiaomi TV from the list of devices.
- On iPhone: Use AirPlay (requires TV support).
๐ป Connecting the laptop to HDMI:
- Connect your laptop to your TV with an HDMI cable.
- Select the HDMI signal source on TV and use the browser on your laptop.
๐ฎ Configures and media players:
- ๐ฆ Xiaomi Mi Box or NVIDIA Shield โ support the installation of browsers from Google Play.
- ๐ฏ Amazon Fire Stick โ You can install Silk Browser or Firefox.
These methods are suitable if you need to open a web page urgently, but they will not replace a full-fledged browser on the TV itself.
