Xiaomi smartphone owners often face a situation where the trial period of the popular service ends, and automatic renewal charges money from the card. There are several ways to remove the unnecessary option, but the way depends on how the subscription was signed up. In the MIUI operating system or its global version of HyperOS, service management has its own features that must be considered for successful cancellation.
The most important thing to do before starting the procedure is to determine the source of authorization. If you activated Yandex Plus through the Google Play app store, then you need to turn it off there. In the case when the activation occurred inside the Yandex application itself or through the web interface, the phone settings may not help, and you will have to act through the Yandex account.
Don't worry if you can't find the right button right away. Interfaces update and menu layouts change, and the key is to understand the logic of how Android works on MIUI, where subscription management is often placed in a separate system section, independent of the specific application.
Determination of the method of activating a subscription
Before we get to the technical side, we need to figure out how the subscription was launched, which is a critical step, because trying to cancel a subscription through Google Play when it was signed directly from the provider will not work, and users often forget where they tied the payment method.
If you paid through Google Play, your payment history will show a record from Google, not directly from Yandex, in which case the management is through a Google account, and if the charges are directly from Yandex LLC or a similar legal entity without the intermediary of the app store, then the subscription is tied to your account in the Yandex ecosystem.
- 🔍 Check it out. SMS-Bank notification: usually the recipient of the payment is indicated.
- 📱 Remember if you were logged into a Google account when you were registered or only in the Yandex app.
- 💳 Pay attention to the commission: when paying through Google Play, store fees may be charged.
There is also a third, less obvious option: Subscriptions could be activated through partners, such as a carrier or a bank, and simply displayed in the app. In this case, disabling through the settings of the Xiaomi phone will not work, you will need to log in to the partner’s personal account. In 90% of cases, on Xiaomi devices, subscriptions are managed either through Google Play or through the internal Yandex account system.
⚠️ Note: If you simply delete the Yandex app from your smartphone, your subscription will NOT be cancelled.
Disabling subscriptions via Google Play on Xiaomi
This is the most common scenario for Android users: Google Play App Store takes on the functions of a payment agent. To manage subscriptions in the MIUI interface, there is a standard algorithm of actions that does not depend on the smartphone model, whether it is a budget Redmi or flagship Xiaomi.
You need to open the Play Store app, and note that you need to use the official store, not the third-party store, and in the upper right corner of the screen is your profile icon, and clicking on it opens the account management menu.
Next, select Payments and Subscriptions, and then go to Subscriptions, which will show you a list of all active services linked to this Google account, and search Yandex Plus and click on it.
☑️ Check before canceling on Google Play
On the subscription management screen, you'll see the "Cancel Subscription" button, the system may try to hold you back by offering pauses or other bonuses, you need to firmly click "Cancel" and confirm the action, and then the status will change to "Expires", and access will remain until the end of the paid period.
- ✅ Cancellation occurs instantly in the system, but access remains until the end of the period.
- ✅ Refunds for the current period are not normally made.
- ✅ Re-activation is possible at any time.
Subscription management via Yandex app
If you subscribe directly, it is most convenient to manage it through the official Yandex application with a yellow button. This method is universal for all platforms, but on Xiaomi it has its own features of displaying menus.
Launch the app and go to the Services tab or click on the profile icon. Plus or My subscriptions show your current status. If the subscription is active, it will show your end date and management button.
Click on the subscription management button. The system will redirect you to the details page. If you can manage it inside the application, you will see the "Cancel" button. If the button is missing or leads to the site, then the subscription is tied to an external source (for example, the same Google Play or operator).
What do I do if there is no button?
In some versions of the MIUI shell, the app can open the browser to confirm cancellation. This is normal behavior. Make sure you are logged in to the same Yandex acca-unt you signed up for.
Subscription settings in MIUI and HyperOS
MIUI shells and the new HyperOS have built-in digital content management tools. Although they often duplicate Google’s features, sometimes subscriptions get stuck in Xiaomi’s system settings.
Go to your smartphone settings. Scroll down to Services and Subscriptions or look for Accounts and Sync. Some firmware versions have their subscription management listed under Security or Apps.
| Section in settings | Function | Probability of existence |
|---|---|---|
| Google Play | Substantive management | Tall. |
| Yandex appendix | Direct control | Medium |
| MIUI settings | System services | Low. |
| Mi Account. | Xiaomi Services | Low. |
It is important to distinguish between Xiaomi subscriptions (cloud, themes) and third-party services. Yandex Plus is a third-party service, so you can’t turn it off in the Mi Account section. However, if you subscribed through Mi Pay or Xiaomi services, you should look there.
💡
Periodically check the Subscriptions section in Google Play settings to detect forgotten automatic extensions.
Cancellation via Yandex Plus web interface
If the phone cannot cancel due to application or interface errors, you can use the browser. This method is especially relevant if the Yandex application on Xiaomi does not work correctly.
Go to plus.yandex.ru and log in. In the upper right corner, click on the avatar and select “Subscription Management” and then select the tariff or option to disable.
The system will offer you several options: suspend, change the tariff or completely refuse. Choose a complete refusal. The web interface often provides more information about when exactly the money will be written off the next time than the mobile application.
- 🌐 It works even with problems with the application.
- 📜 The history of all operations in the personal account is preserved.
- 🔒 Requires a strong password and possibly confirmation SMS.
Disconnection problems and their solution
Xiaomi users may face specific problems, such as the aggressive MIUI energy saving system, which can block the background processes required to update their subscription status in real time.
If the “Cancel” button is inactive or disappears, try clearing the cache of the Google Play app or Yandex itself. To do this, go to Settings → Apps → All apps, find the desired application and select “Clear Cache”.
⚠️ Note: Clearing the data (not just the cache) will reset the app settings, but will not cancel the subscription».
The problem may also be time desynchronization, such as making sure that Xiaomi has automatic time and time zone settings, and that incorrect time can cause errors when communicating with authorization servers.
💡
If nothing helps, the most reliable way is to block the card in the bank application and release a new one so that the debiting becomes technically impossible.
