Owners of Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco smartphones often face the need to clean up their call lists, which may be due to the desire to hide information from prying eyes, make room in the phoneβs database, or simply remove accumulated βdigital garbage.β Modern shells MIUI and HyperOS offer flexible tools to manage the history of connections.
The process of deleting records can vary depending on the operating system version and device model, but the basic principles remain the same over the years, and it is important to understand the difference between deleting a single contact, a group of numbers, or completely cleaning the entire log at once.
In this article, we will take a look at all the methods available for managing call history, how to quickly erase a particular number, clean the entire list with a single touch, and even how to hide incoming from certain subscribers, and also touch on the issues of recovery of deleted data and work with garbage in the system.
Basic management of call history
The standard interface of the Phone app in Xiaomi shells is designed so that the user can quickly find the information they need. To access the log, you need to launch the Phone app and go to the History tab, and it displays all incoming, outgoing and missed calls grouped by contacts.
To delete a record of one particular call without deleting all correspondence with that caller, you need to perform a simple action: Find the desired number in the list and click on it to expand the details. In the menu that opens, select the basket icon or Delete. This action will irreversibly delete only the selected record of the time and duration of the call.
If your goal is to erase the entire history of communication with a particular person, the algorithm of actions will be different: you need to find a contact in the general history list, click on it and hold your finger until the action menu appears. In the list of options that appears, you should select "Delete", the system will ask you to confirm the action, after which all the entries associated with this number will disappear from the log.
β οΈ Note: Deleting your call history does not remove the contact from the phone book, and the number will be saved in the Contacts section if it was previously recorded there.
You can use filters to fine-tune the display, and by clicking on three dots in the corner of the screen, you can sort calls by type: only missed, only outgoing, or all at once, which helps you find the right recording faster before you delete it.

Use the search function in the Phone app to instantly find the desired number by name or part of the numbers, instead of scrolling through a long list manually.
Complete cleaning of the call log
When hundreds of records accumulate in the list, manual deletion becomes inefficient. MIUI and HyperOS shells allow you to perform a mass cleanup. To do this, open the Phone app and go to call settings or use the history management menu.
Click on the menu icon (three dots or bars) and select Call History or Clear History. The system will suggest selecting a date range or simply clearing everything. Confirm the action, and the call database will be completely overwritten, becoming empty. This is a useful feature for those who change frequently. SIM-card or sell device.
- π± Open the Phone app and go to the History tab".
- ποΈ Click on the menu (three dots) and select "Clear Call History".
- β Confirm the removal of all entries in the dialog window that appears.
It's worth noting that once you've cleaned it, it's not possible to recover the data with standard system tools, so if you have important numbers that you haven't put in your contacts, it's better to take a screenshot or export them beforehand.

Remove via the Settings menu
Sometimes the phone interface can be changed by the manufacturer or carrier, and in such cases the universal solution is to use Android system settings, which ensures access to the applicationβs data management regardless of the version of MIUI.
Go to the main menu of your smartphone and select Settings. Next, search the Apps section and select "All Apps" or "App Management." In the list, find the Phone app (often has a green handset icon) and click on it.
Inside the app menu, you're interested in storage options. Click on Memory or Storage. Here you'll see the "Clear" and "Reset" button. It's important not to confuse them. The "Clear Cache" button will delete temporary files, but it will save history. The "Clear Data" button will delete all data, including the call log and the app settings.
| Action. | What's removed | Keeps in touch. | Risk of data loss |
|---|---|---|---|
| Removal from the journal | Only the history of the calls. | Yes. | Low. |
| Clearing the cache | Temporary files | Yes. | No. |
| Data resetting (Clear Data) | All the history and settings | Yes (if on Google) | High-pitched |
Using the application's system data reset is a "nuclear" option, it returns the Phone application to state immediately after installation, and all forwarding, call waiting and blacklist settings can be reset to factory values.
β οΈ Before using Clear Data, make sure your contacts are synced to your Google or Mi Account account so you donβt lose your phone book.

Working with blacklist and hiding numbers
Often users want to not just delete the number, but make it so that it no longer appears in the log. To do this, Xiaomi smartphones have a built-in lock function. When the number is blacklisted, calls from it do not pass, and attempts to communicate may not appear in the shared feed, leaving to a special section.
To add a number to the lock, open the call log, click on the desired number and select "Block." An alternative route is through the Security app (green shield), which is preinstalled on all devices of the brand. Inside, select "Blacklist" and add the desired contact.
Filtering allows you to flexibly manage what gets into the log, so you can set up a way to hide all unknown numbers, or, conversely, to hide only those that are blocked, and this helps keep the main call list clean from intrusive advertising and spam.
- π‘οΈ Open the "Security" app on your desktop.
- π« Select the "Black List" item in the lower menu or in the toolbox.
- β Click the add button and select a number from the history or enter manually.
It is important to understand that adding to the blacklist does not automatically delete past history. If a number is already in the log, it must be deleted separately by the methods described in the previous sections.

The blacklist in MIUI works at the system level, so blocked calls do not wake the phone and leave no traces in the standard log if the appropriate concealment option is enabled.
Cleaning through conductor and system files
For advanced users who do not have standard methods, there is a file system option, and the Android call log is stored in the contacts.db database or specific files within the system partition, but access to them without root permissions is closed.
However, there are logs that may contain information about calls, which are in /data/log/ or similar system directories, and the average user does not have access to that directory, but knowing this fact is important to understand that "complete" removal of traces at the file system level requires deep cleaning.
A more affordable method is to use the built-in Explorer app. MIUI or Sound_recorder, If you've been recording conversations, audio files take up a lot of space and are often tied to specific calls, and deleting them also clears the tails of calls.
The way to the recordings of conversations:
Internal memory β MIUI β sound_recorder β call_recDeleting files from this folder will free up space, but it won't remove the entry from the call log. Log and audio files are logically linked, but physically located in different places. For comprehensive cleaning, you need to delete both the entry from the list and the file from memory.
Recovering a Remote History
Accidental deletion of an important number is a common problem. Fortunately, Xiaomi's ecosystem and Google's services offer recovery mechanisms. If you have sync enabled, data can be stored in the cloud. Check Google Contacts or Mi Cloud.
The Contacts section of Google's website has a Cancel Change feature that allows you to roll back the status of your phone book and, in some cases, your call history (if it's synced through Google Voice or similar services) up to 30 days ago, a powerful tool that's often overlooked.
For Mi Cloud users, the process is similar: Go to the cloud settings on i.mi.com, log in and check the Data Recovery section, where you can return remote contacts, messages and call logs if the device has managed to backup before clearing.
