Why Yandex Search History is Saved on Xiaomi and How to Fix It
Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones are integrated by default with Yandex services, from the browser to the voice assistant Alice. Every search you make, whether itβs through Yandex.Browser or a widget on the home screen, automatically stores history. This is convenient for quick access to past queries, but creates privacy risks: anyone who takes your phone can see what youβre looking for.
Unlike Google, where history is managed through an account, Yandex stores data both locally (in the phoneβs memory) and in the cloud (if sync is enabled). On Xiaomi, this is complicated by pre-installed MIUI services that can duplicate queries. For example, search through the MIUI Launcher panel is sometimes saved both in Yandex and in the MIUI system log.
In this article, weβve shown three proven ways to clean up Yandexβs history on Xiaomi, including hidden MIUI settings that arenβt described in the official documentation, and weβll also discuss how to disable saving requests forever, and what to do if the story is restored after deleting.
Method 1: Cleaning through Yandex.Browser (the fastest method)
If you use Yandex.Browser as your primary search history is stored right there, and you can delete it in 30 seconds:
- Open Yandex.Browser on your Xiaomi.
- Slip on the icon "Three dots"** (menu) in the lower right corner.
- Choose a History. β Clear history.
- Check the boxes: π Search history (required) π Cookies and website data (recommended) πΌοΈ Cached images (optional)
Clear the data
Exited from Yandex account (if you want to delete the history only locally)|Closed all browser tabs |Disabled synchronization (if you do not need to delete the history on other devices) |Verted that you do not delete the saved passwords (if they are important)
-->
β οΈ Note: If you are logged in to your Yandex account, clearing your browser history will remove it from all devices that have synced. To avoid this, log out first in your browser settings (Profile) β Get out).
On some Xiaomi models (e.g. Redmi Note 12 Pro)+ or POCO F5) After cleaning, the history can be restored the next time the browser is launched. MIUI. To avoid the problem:
β οΈ Warning: After clearing the history, close the browser through the task manager (swipe up with a delay) β This will prevent automatic data recovery.
Method 2: Remove via the Yandex application (for search outside the browser)
Many Xiaomi users do not search for information through a browser, but through:
- π Widget Yandex.Search on the main screen;
- π± Yandex app (icon with the letter "IΒ»);
- π€ Voice search through Alice.
In this case, the history is stored in a separate Yandex application, and you will not be able to clean it through the browser.
- Open the Yandex app (not the browser!).
- Slip on the profile avatar in the upper right corner.
- Select Settings β Search History.
- Click Clear History and confirm.
| Action. | The result | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Cleaning through the browser | Remove only requests in the browser | It does not affect the widget and voice search. |
| Cleaning through the application βYandexβ | Deletes all requests (including widget and Alice) | Requires authorization in the account |
| Shutting down synchronization | Stops preserving a new history | Does not delete data already stored |
If there is no clear history button, it means:
- π You are not logged in to Yandex account (log in through Profile) β Come in);
- π± You have an outdated version of the app (update to Google Play);
- π οΈ Xiaomi has a modified firmware installed (for example, MIUI EU), where Yandex services are removed.

Method 3: Reset via MIUI settings (for complete cleaning)
If Yandexβs story continues to appear even after being cleaned through the browser and application, the problem lies in the cache of MIUI system services. On some Xiaomi models (for example, Mi 11 Ultra or Redmi K50), search queries are duplicated in the system log to delete them completely:
- Go to Settings β Applications β Application Management.
- In the search bar enter Yandex.
- Select all applications with this name (browser, search, services).
- For each, tap Warehouse β Clear the cache and Clear the data.
- Reboot the phone.
β οΈ Note: Cleaning the data of the application Yandex will lead to:
- π I'm leaving my account;
- π Remove all local settings (themes, widgets, history);
- π Reset notifications from Yandex services.
For Xiaomi models on MIUI 14+ (such as Xiaomi 13T or POCO X5 Pro), there is a hidden option to reset search history through the MIUI lab:
How to Open Hidden MIUI Settings to Reset History
This method removes all search data, including queries in Google and MIUI search, and only use it if the first two methods fail.
How to turn off the preservation of Yandex history forever
To stop Yandex from saving your queries to Xiaomi, you need to disable synchronization and change your privacy settings.
1. Through the settings of the Yandex account
- Open Yandex.Browser or Yandex application.
- Go to Profile. β Account settings.
- Select Confidentiality β History of search.
- Turn off the option to Save Search History.
- Confirm the action by SMS or mail (if necessary).
2. via MIUI settings (for system search)
If you use the Yandex.Search widget on the home screen, its settings are hidden in MIUI:
- Press your finger on the Yandex.Search widget (not on the icon, but on the widget itself).
- Select the widget settings (or Change, depending on the version of MIUI).
- Turn off Save Search History and Personalized Tips.
Some firmware (e.g. MIUI Global for the European market) may not have a Yandex widget, in which case the history is stored only in the browser or application, and it is enough to disable synchronization in them.

If you still have a history after you turn off, check your Google Account settings on your phone. Sometimes, requests from Yandex are duplicated in Google Assistant (settings β Google β Devices and Accounts β Application History and Web Search).
What to do if the history of Yandex is restored after removal
Xiaomi users often find that Yandexβs search history returns after cleaning up.
| Problem. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| History Returns After Reboot | Background synchronization with the Yandex cloud | Leave the account in the browser settings |
| The queries are duplicated in the MIUI system search | Integration of Yandex into firmware | Clear the cache of the Search application in the settings |
| The story appears on other devices | Yandex Cloud Storage | Clear history through the web version of the account |
If none of these methods worked, try:
- Remove and re-install Yandex.Browser;
- Turn off automatic synchronization in MIUI settings (Accounts β Yandex β Synchronization);
- Reset network settings (Settings) β SIM-maps and mobile networks β Resetting network settings).
On MIUI China firmware (for the Chinese market), Yandex services can be replaced by Baidu or Sogou, in which case the history is stored in other applications, and it will be required to clean it up:
- π± Install global firmware (MIUI Global);
- π§ Use it. ADB-commands to remove system applications.
Bonus: How to delete the history of Yandex without access to the phone
If your Xiaomi is lost or stolen, but you are logged in to your Yandex account, you can delete the history remotely:
- Go to passport.yandex.ru/profile from any device.
- Sign in under your account.
- Choose History Management β Search queries.
- Click Clear History and confirm.
This will remove the history from all the devices you've logged in to that account, and if you find the phone, you won't save any new requests until you turn on sync again.
β οΈ Note: If two-factor authentication is enabled on the phone (SMS or Yandex.Key, for remote cleaning of history you will need access to a backup code or a trusted device.
