Why Yandex history is accumulating and why clean it up
The Xiaomi Mi 9, with its powerful Snapdragon 855 processor and 6-8 GB of RAM, will cope with even dozens of open tabs in the browser. But over time, the history of searches and visited pages in Yandex.Browser or the mobile version of Yandex.Search begins to take up extra space, slow down the device and, more importantly, jeopardize your privacy.
On the Mi 9 with factory-built MIUI, the story is not only stored locally, but synced to your Yandex account when youβre logged in. This means that even after deleting the data on your phone, it can stay in the cloud. In this article, weβll look at how to completely erase the history β both on your device and in your account β and what to do if standard methods donβt work.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 (codenamed Cepheus) is often equipped with custom firmware or modified versions of MIUI. If your phone was flashed informally, some menu items may differ - we will mention this too.
Method 1: Clearing the history directly in Yandex.Browser
The most obvious way is to use built-in browser tools, which is suitable if you use the official Yandex.Browser (not to be confused with the mobile version of the site ya.ru). On Mi 9, the application can be preinstalled or downloaded from Google Play.
To remove the story:
- Open Yandex.Browser (an icon with a blue circle and the letter "I").
- Slip on the three horizontal bars at the bottom of the screen (menu).
- Choose a History. β Clear history.
- Check the boxes for the right items: π Visit history β list of visited sites. π Search history β the queries you entered. πͺ Cookies and site data - saved logins, site settings. ποΈ Cache β temporary files to speed up loading.
Delete the data
If you want to delete a story selectively (for example, in the last hour or day), in the History menu, click on the three dots next to the desired entry and select Delete.
Make sure you are not logged in to Yandexβs account (or prepare to sync the deletion)|Close all important tabs β they will close after cleaning.|Remember that the story from other devices (PC, tablet) will not be deleted.|If you use MIUI 12+, Check the browser permissions in the phone settings-->
β οΈ Note: If you are logged in to Yandex, clearing your history on Mi 9 will automatically delete it on other devices that use the same account. To avoid this, log out first in your browser settings (Menu) β Settings β Account. β Get out).
Method 2: Delete history through the mobile version of Yandex.Search
Many Xiaomi Mi 9 users prefer not to install a separate browser, but to use the mobile version of the site ya.ru in Google Chrome or another browser, in which case the history is stored in the Yandex account, and you can only clean it through the web interface.
Instructions:
- Open any browser and go to the Yandex account page.
- Sign in if necessary.
- From the menu, select Data Management β Search History.
- Click Clear History and select a period: π Last hour β if you only need to delete fresh requests. π All the time, complete cleaning. βοΈ Selectively β individual requests can be noted.
Confirm the action.
This method will delete the history on all devices where you use this account. If you need to erase the data only on Mi 9, log out of the profile first in your browser settings or use incognito mode to search.

Method 3: Resetting cache and data Yandex.Browser through Android settings
If the story is not cleared in standard ways (for example, due to a malfunction of the browser), you can use the system tools Xiaomi Mi 9. This method is also useful if you want to completely reset the browser to factory settings β along with bookmarks, passwords and settings.
How to do this:
- Open the phone settings (cog icon).
- Go to the Apps β Application management.
- Find Yandex.Browser (or Yandex Browser) in the list.
- Slip it on the Warehouse.
- Click Clear Cache (this will delete temporary files) and Clear Data (this will reset all browser settings, including history).
After this procedure, the browser will open as after the first installation, you will have to re-enter accounts and configure sync, and if you used autocomplete forms, all stored data (logins, passwords) will also be deleted.
| Action. | What's removed | Restored after rebooting |
|---|---|---|
| Clear the cache | Temporary files, page thumbnails | No. |
| Clear the data | History, bookmarks, settings, accounts | No. |
| Deletion of the annex | Everything, including updates | No (will have to be re-installed) |
| Exit from Yandex account | Synchronizing History with the Cloud | Yes (after re-entry) |
β οΈ Attention: On some firmware MIUI For Xiaomi Mi 9 (especially custom) item Clear data may be missing or not work correctly. In this case, try reinstalling the browser or using the following method.
Method 4: Using a File Manager for Manual Cleaning
For power users who arenβt afraid to βdigβ into system folders, thereβs a way to manually delete the history through the file manager, which is true if the browser doesnβt respond to standard commands or you suspect that the data is stored in an unexpected place.
Instructions:
- Install a file manager with access to root folders (such as Solid Explorer or FX File Explorer).
- Open the manager and give him root rights if you have them on your Mi 9.
- Cross the path: /data/data/com.yandex.browser/files/ Or (if you use Yandex.Search without a browser): /data/data/ru.yandex.searchplugin/files/
- Delete cache folders, databases, and files with the.db extension (such as history.db).
- Reboot the phone.
If neither method worked, the problem may be the firmware itself, and you can find patches for Mi 9 on the 4PDA or XDA Developers forums that fix these bugs, but installing them requires an unlocked bootloader and custom firmware experience.

On the Xiaomi Mi 9 with official MIUI firmware, the most reliable way to clean up history is a combination of method 1 (inside the browser) and method 2 (through the Yandex account), which ensures that data is deleted both on the device and in the cloud.
