The Yandex ecosystem has long been an integral part of the daily lives of millions of users, from search to navigation to cloud services. However, owners of Xiaomi Redmi smartphones often face difficulties in integrating these tools into MIUI.
In this article, we will discuss all the ways to install and configure Yandex services on Redmi, from basic search engine replacement to fine optimization of the browser, maps and widgets. We will focus on typical errors (for example, when Yandex.Browser is not installed from Google Play) and how to fix them.
Important: the instructions are relevant for all modern Redmi models (from Redmi Note 10 to Redmi 13C) based on Android 11-14 with the shell MIUI 12-14. If you have an older version of the software, some points may differ - we will mention this too.
1. Installation of Yandex-applications: browser, maps, mail
The first step is to download official apps. While Xiaomi does not block third-party service installations, some users are facing problems due to regional restrictions or conflicts with MIUI Optimized.
- 📱 Method 1: Google Play. Go to the Play Store, type in the search for "Yandex" and install the desired applications (Yandex.Browser, Yandex.Maps, Yandex.Mail). If the application is not located, check the region of the Google account - it must be Russia.
- 🌐 Method 2: APK-Download installation files from the official Yandex Mobile website. Redmi will be suitable for versions marked Android 6.0+. Before installation, allow installation from unknown sources in Settings → Annexes → Special rights → Installation of unknown applications.
- ⚙️ Method 3: Alternative stores. If Google Play is not available, use APKMirror or RuStore. In the latter, all Yandex apps are by default.
After installation, take your time to open the applications — first set up access rights. For example, Yandex.Maps will require permission to geolocate and store to download offline maps. Without this, navigation will not work properly.

- If you don’t have a paragraph, use the Default App Manager app from Google Play – it lets you manually assign your default browser.
Redmi models with global firmware (for example, Redmi Note 12 Global) may not have the option to change the search engine in the MIUI settings. In this case, only manual replacement of the launcher (for example, on Nova Launcher) or the use of Yandex widgets will help.
3. Yandex.Browser optimization for Xiaomi Redmi
The Yandex.Browser on Redmi often runs slower than on pure Android, due to background MIUI optimization.

4.Yandex.Maps: offline mode and traffic saving
Navigating through Yandex.Maps on Redmi can quickly eat up Internet traffic, especially if you travel frequently.
- Download offline maps in advance: open the application, find the desired region and click Download. For Redmi with 64 GB of memory, it is recommended to store no more than 3-4 regions at a time.
- Turn on Traffic Savings in the card settings: Settings → Data Mode → Traffic Savings.
- Turn off Auto Update cards in the background if you use mobile Internet.
If the maps do not determine your location, check:
- Whether GPS is enabled (in the notification curtain or in Settings → Location).
- Have you allowed the application to access geodata (Settings → Applications → Yandex.Maps → Permissions).

5. Yandex widgets on Redmi's home screen
Yandex widgets (weather, search, news) can be added to the home screen, but in MIUI, this process is not always intuitive.
- Hold your finger in the free seat of the main screen and select Widgets.
- Scroll through the list to Yandex (if there is none, first install the appropriate application, such as Yandex.Weather).
- Drag the widget onto the screen and adjust its size (some widgets support zooming).
If the widgets are not automatically updated:
- Check if Battery Optimization for the widget application is disabled.
- Enable Autosynchronization in your Google account settings (yes, this also affects Yandex widgets!).
- Update the Yandex app to the latest version.
Tip for Redmi Note 11/12: If weather widgets show incorrect data, try manually specifying the city in the Yandex.Weather app settings, rather than relying on automatic location determination.
6. Solving typical problems with Yandex services on Xiaomi
Even after you set it up correctly, Redmi users can still encounter bugs, and we've collected some of the most common ways to fix them:

In addition to the browser and maps, you can configure other Yandex services on Redmi for maximum convenience:
