You bought a Xiaomi Mi TV and want to use the usual services of Yandex β browser, search, weather or even Yandex.Music, but can not find them in the standard interface? The problem is familiar to many: despite the support of Android TV, the manufacturer often limits pre-installed applications, preferring its own or partner services. In this article, we will analyze all the working ways of installing and using Yandex services on Xiaomi TVs (including models Mi TV 4S, 5, A2, P1 and others), and also tell you how to avoid typical errors.
It is important to understand: under βYandex on TVβ users usually mean one of three: 1) Yandex Browser (for browsing sites), 2) Yandex Search box (for quick content search), 3) Individual applications (Weather, Music, Maps, etc.).
Each of these options is set differently, and weβll look at them all.If your TV runs on PatchWall (the Xiaomi branded shell), be prepared for additional restrictions β but there are solutions for them, too.

1. Installation of Yandex browser via Google Play
The easiest way is to download the official Yandex.Browser app for Android TV from the Google Play store.
On most Xiaomi TVs, the Yandex browser does not appear in Google Play search by default, due to manufacturer restrictions.
- π Open Google Play on your TV and search for βYandex Browserβ TVΒ» (English!).
- π± If the browser is not found, use the web version of Google Play on your smartphone or PC: click on the link and log in under the same account as on your TV. TV. Click βInstallβ and select your Xiaomi TV from the list of devices.

Instructions:
- π₯ Download the latest version APK Android TV from the official Yandex website or a verified source (for example, browser.yandex.ru/tv). Note: The TV version is different from the mobile version and has a suffix Β«TVΒ» file-name.
- πΎ Transfer the file to USB-storage device (formatted in FAT32) or upload directly to your TV via cloud storage (e.g. Google Drive).
- π§ Enable installation from unknown sources: Go to Settings β Security and limitations β Unknown sources: Select the application to install (for example, File Manager or ES Conductor. Permit installation APK.

What to do if the APK is not installed?
Warning: Installing APKs from unverified sources can harm your device. Use only official files or verified repositories (e.g., APKPure).
β οΈ Note: Xiaomi TVs with PatchWall shell (models for China) may be blocked from installing third-party devices APK. In this case, unlocking the bootloader or using alternative methods will be required (see Section 5).
3. Adding the Yandex search bar to the main screen
If you need not so much a browser version, as a quick search for content (movies, videos, weather) through Yandex, you can integrate the search bar into the TV interface.
- π Install the Yandex.Search application for Android TV from Google Play (similar to browser, see section 1).
- π After installation, press the Home button on the remote and select βAdd to the home screenΒ».
- π Drag the Yandex.Search icon to a convenient location (such as near Netflix or YouTube).

5. Alternative methods: via Mi Home or third-party launchers
If standard methods donβt work (for example, on TVs for the Chinese market without Google Play), you can go roundabouts:
Method 1: Using Mi Home (Xiaomi Smart TVs only)
Some Xiaomi models (such as Mi TV Q1 or Mi TV ES) support management via the Mi Home app.
- π± Install Mi Home on your smartphone.
- π Connect your TV to your Xiaomi account.
- π§ In the TV settings, enable Mi Home Integration (usually in the Smart Home section).
- π Through Mi Home, add a web widget with an address https://yandex.ru or a specific service (for example, https://music.yandex.ru).
Method 2: Install a third-party launcher (e.g., ATV Launcher)
PatchWallβs proprietary shell on Xiaomi TVs often limits the options, and the solution is to install an alternative launcher, such as an ATV Launcher or Sideload Launcher:

Even after successful installation, users face typical problems, and consider the most common and ways to solve them:
