1. Basic method: Adding through the “Contacts” app
The most obvious method is to use the standard Contacts app (an icon with a person’s silhouette on a green background) preinstalled on all Xiaomi smartphones and supports synchronization with Google, Mi Account and local storage.
To add a new number:
- 📱 Open the Contacts app (if it isn’t on the home screen, search through App Search swipe down).
- ➕ Press the badge «+» lower right corner (in MIUI 15 buttons can be hidden behind the menu «…» → «Create a contact»).
- 📝 Fill in the fields: Name (required, otherwise contact will not be saved) Phone number (specify with the country code, for example, +7 9XX XXX-XX-XX) Number type ("Mobile", "Worker", "Home" - affects the display in the call log)
- 💾 Click Save in the top right corner, and by default, the contact will be saved to your Google account (if connected) or your phone’s local memory.
Important: If you are not logged in to Google or Mi Account, contacts will only be stored on the device. When you reset your phone, they will be deleted! To avoid this, set up sync (see section 4).
