Have you copied an important link on a Xiaomi smartphone but didn't save it? Or accidentally overwritten the clipboard with new text? This is a situation familiar to many users of Redmi, POCO and other devices on MIUI. Fortunately, the operating system and third-party tools offer several ways to recover lost data, from built-in clipboard history to specialized utilities.
In this article, we will discuss 7 working methods to find copied links to Android Xiaomi, including hidden firmware functions, cloud services and applications with advanced functionality. We will focus on the nuances of different versions of MIUI (12 to 14) and smartphone models โ from budget Redmi Note to flagship Xiaomi 13.
Before you go to the instructions, check that the link is probably saved in one of these places:
- ๐ buffer MIUI โ Built-in history of the last 20 copies (not available on all versions).
- โ๏ธ Xiaomi Cloud โ if Note Synchronization or Browser was enabled.
- ๐ Browser โ history of visits or bookmarks (Google Chrome, Mi Browser).
- ๐ฑ Application Managers โ Clipboard Manager or Copy Bubble.
If neither of these options works, read on, and we'll go through each method in detail, including hidden settings and alternative solutions for older models.
1. Built-in history of the clipboard in MIUI
Since MIUI 10, Xiaomi has added a clipboard history feature, but it depends on the firmware version and regional build. On new devices (such as Xiaomi 12T or Redmi Note 11), this option is enabled by default, and on older ones (such as Redmi 5) it may not be.
To check the story:
- Open any text field (for example, in Notes or Messages).
- Keep your finger in the input field until the menu appears.
- Click on the clipboard icon** (the icon of two documents or paper clips).
- Scroll through the list of recent copies โ links are usually marked with an icon ๐.
โ ๏ธ Attention: B MIUI 12.5+ The clipboard history is reset after the device is restarted. If you did not manually save the link (for example, in Notes), it will be impossible to restore it after turning off the phone.
If there is no built-in history, try an alternative method:
- Go to Settings โ Additional settings โ Language and input โ Clipboard.
- Enable the option โShare buffer historyโ** (if available).
- Return to the text box and check the clipboard menu again.
๐ก
On some models (e.g. POCO F3), the clipboard history is hidden. To activate it, set the firmware region to India or the Global version via Settings โ About Phone โ MIUI version (tap 7 times according to version to unlock additional options).
2. Search through the Notes app (Notes)
Xiaomiโs Notes app automatically saves some copied data if it contains text longer than 20 characters, and links are the same โ especially if they were copied from a browser or messenger.
How to check:
- Open the Notes app (yellow notebook icon).
- Go to the โBasketโ section** (the trash can icon in the lower right corner).
- Scroll the list for the presence of automatically saved fragments with links.
- If nothing is available, click on the search icon (magnifying glass) and enter a part of the link (e.g. https:// or.ru).
โ ๏ธ Note: Automatic Save only works when you are actively synced to the Xiaomi cloud. โ Xiaomi account โ Synchronization, data in Notes may not be available.
| Xiaomi model | Support for automatic saving in โNotesโ | Max. shelf life (days) |
|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi 13/13 Pro | Yes (MIUI 14) | 30 |
| Redmi Note 12 | Yes (MIUI 13) | 14 |
| POCO X5 | Yes (MIUI 14 for POCO) | 7 |
| Redmi 9A | No (MIUI 12) | โ |
If the link is not found, try to restore it through a backup of notes:
- ๐ Go to Settings. โ Xiaomi account โ Cloud. โ Data recovery.
- ๐ Select the backup date (before the link is lost).
- โ Click on "Notes"** and click Restore.
3. Browser History: Chrome, Mi Browser, Firefox
If a link was copied from a web page, it can be found in the history of the browser.
Google Chrome
Chrome saves your browsing history even if you are not logged in to Google.
- Open Chrome and tap on three dots (โฎ) top-right.
- Choose "History."
- Use search (magnifying glass) to filter by keyword or domain (e.g. vk.com).
- If the story is cleared, check for Bookmarks or Other Devices Tabs (if sync is enabled).
Mi Browser
Xiaomiโs standard browser has a hidden history export feature:
- Open Mi Browser and go to Settings โ History.
- Press three points (โฎ) In the upper right corner and select โHistory Exportยป**.
- The file will be saved in.html format โ open it through any text editor.
Firefox
Firefox stores your history longer than other browsers (up to 90 days):
- Open Firefox and go to โฎ โ History โ Viewing history.
- Click on the Sync icon** (if you have an account connected) โ it is possible that the link is saved on another device.

4. Exchange buffer management applications
If the built-in MIUI tools didnโt help, install one of the specialized applications that not only save copy history, but also allow you to search by keyword, export data and sync between devices.
Top.-3 apps:
- ๐ Clipboard Manager โ saves up to 1000 entries, supports search by regular expressions (e.g. https?://[^\s]+ reference).
- ๐ Copy Bubble โ displays the story as a floating window, automatically recognizes links and offers to open them in the browser.
- โ๏ธ Clip Stack โ syncs with Google Drive, allows you to recover data after a phone reset.
Instructions for setting up Clipboard Manager:
Install the app from Google Play
Open and grant permission to access the clipboard
Enable the โAutoStartโ option in Android settings
Activate synchronization with the cloud (optional)-->
โ ๏ธ Attention: On Android 10+ clipboard applications require permission to โMask over other windowsโ** (Settings) โ Annexes โ Special access โ And without that, they can't track the copy.
If the app doesnโt see old records, try:
- Import data from a backup (if it was created earlier).
- Enable the option โMonitoring clipboardโ** in the application settings.
- Reboot the phone โ sometimes MIUI blocks access to the clipboard after a long time of operation.
5. Search through the file system (for advanced users)
Links copied from some applications (such as Telegram or VKontakte) can be saved in temporary files, and to find them, you will need access to system folders - either through root-rights Explorer or using ADB.
Where to look:
- ๐ /data/clipboard/ โ here MIUI Stores temporary clipboard files (root rights required).
- ๐ /data/data/com.android.providers.media/ โ cache of the media provider, where fragments of links from messengers may remain.
- ๐ /sdcard/Download/ โ Sometimes links are saved as text files (for example, when exported from the browser).
Instructions for searching through ADB (no root):
adb shell
su
find /data -name "clipboard" -o -name "copy" 2>/dev/null
exitโ ๏ธ Warning: Direct editing of system folders can cause a malfunction MIUI. Do not delete or modify files unless you are sure of their purpose. For security, back up via Settings โ Additionally. โ Backup and reset.
๐ก
If you donโt have root rights, the only safe way to find links through the file system is to use applications like FX File Explorer with View Root Folders mode enabled (you need to unlock the bootloader).
6.Recovery through MIUI backups
MIUI automatically creates local backups once a week if the option is enabled, and these copies can store clipboard, notes, or browser data.
How to restore:
- Go to Settings โ Additional โ Backup and Reset โ Local Backups.
- Select the most recent copy (before the link is lost) and click Restore.
- Note Notes, Browser, and System Settings** (there may be a clipboard history stored).
- Confirm the recovery and restart the phone.
If you donโt have local copies, check out the Xiaomi cloud.
- Open Settings โ Xiaomi Account โ Cloud โ Data Recovery.
- Select the device and date of the backup.
- Check the boxes next to the data you want and click โRestoreโ**.
โ ๏ธ Note: Restore from the backup will overwrite the current data in the selected applications. For example, if you restore Notes, all current notes will be replaced with those that were when you created the copy. First export important data manually through the application menu.
7.Alternative methods: synchronization with other devices
If the link was copied on another device (for example, on a tablet or PC), it can be found through synchronized services:
- โ๏ธ Google Account โ Check Google Activity (Date and Keyword Filter Copyed).
- ๐ฌ Telegram Saved Messages โ Many users save important links to Favorites or send themselves to Save Messages.
- ๐ง Email โ Check drafts or emails sent (you may have sent the link to yourself).
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Windows 10/11 โ if you have used the General Clipboard* function between your phone and PC (setting to Settings) โ System system โ buffer).
To automatically synchronize the clipboard between Xiaomi and PC devices:
- Install Microsoft SwiftKey (cloud synchronization keyboard) on your phone.
- Enable the option โSync clipboardโ** in the keyboard settings.
- On your PC, install PowerToys (a utility from Microsoft) and activate the โClipboard Managerโ module**.
All copied links will now be available on both devices.
