The DF-DFERH-01 error in the Google Play Market is one of the most common problems faced by Xiaomi Redmi smartphone owners, blocking downloads and updates of applications by displaying a message such as βThe application failed to load due to an error (DF-DFERH-01).β Unlike other Play Market error codes, this one is not related to Google servers, but to local device settings or conflicts in the system.
The main difficulty is that the error can manifest itself in different ways: some users it occurs when trying to install a particular application, others block all downloads in a row. Most often, the problem affects Redmi Note 8/9/10/11, Redmi 9A/9C and POCO X3, but can appear on other models with the MIUI firmware. In this article, we will discuss 7 proven ways to fix the error, from the simplest to the most radical, and explain why it occurs.
What is the DF-DFERH-01 error and why does it appear?
The DF-DFERH-01 code stands for Download Failed: Error Retrieving Information from Server, but most of the time, the problem is not on Google's side, but on the smartphone itself.
- π± Cache Conflict Between Google Play Market and Google Play Services.
- π Incompatibility of Google service versions with firmware MIUI.
- π‘ Unstable Internet connection (especially when using mobile data).
- π Restrictions of the region or VPN, Interfering with synchronization with Google servers.
- π Damaged files in the folder /data/app/ or /cache/.
- π§ Date and time settings down due to manual change or time zone change.
Interestingly, the bug often occurs after a MIUI update or reset, because Xiaomi sometimes modifies system files, which leads to conflict with Google services. For example, the firmware for the Redmi Note 9 Pro (the joyeuse model) had a bug that caused the Play Market to lose access to storage, and an error can occur after installing custom firmware (such as Pixel Experience or LineageOS) if they are assembled without correct GApps.
Method 1: Clearing the cache and Play Market data
In 70 percent of cases, the error is fixed by simply cleaning the cache, because Google Play Market and Google Play Services are actively using temporary files to speed up the work, and if these files are damaged, the services start to conflict.
- Open Settings β Applications β Application Management.
- Find Google Play Market (not to be confused with Google Play Services!).
- Slip on the Warehouse β Clear the cache and Clear the data.
- Repeat steps 2β3 for the Google Play Services app.
- Reboot your smartphone.
If the error persists after the reboot, try removing the updates for the Play Market:
- In the same Google Play Market menu, click on the three dots in the top corner.
- Select Remove Updates.
- Confirm the action and restart the device.
βοΈ Preparation for cache cleanup
β οΈ Note: After the Play Market data is cleared, you will have to re-sign in to your Google account. If you have two-factor authentication enabled, prepare backup codes or access to your email.
Method 2: Checking Date, Time, and Regional Settings
Google services are extremely sensitive to incorrect time settings. If your Redmi has lost a date, hour or time zone, Play Market can block downloads, giving an error DF-DFERH-01.
- Go to Settings β Additional settings β Date and time.
- Make sure that options are included: β° Autodetermining date and time (over the network) π Time zone autodetermination
If the options are disabled, turn them on and wait for the sync (usually takes 10-20 seconds).
The error may also be due to a region mismatch between Google and smartphone settings, such as if the Google account is US and the phone is Russia.
- Open the Google Play Market.
- Slip on the profile avatar β Settings β General β Country and profiles.
- Check if the country matches the one listed in the phone settings (Settings β About Phone β General Information).
| Problem. | Signs. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Time has gone by | Date is behind/ahead of several days, clocks show wrong time | Enable autosynchronization over the network |
| Wrong time zone | Time is the same, but the belt is hand-chosen (for example, UTC+3 instead of Moscow). | Choose autodetermination or manually specify the correct belt |
| Conflict in the region | In Play Market, the country is different from the region in phone settings | Change the country in Google profile or device settings |

If a Play Market region change is triggered by a βThis content is not available in your countryβ error, wait 24 hours β sometimes Google servers need time to apply the changes.
Method 3: Delete and Re-Install Google Account
If previous methods failed, the problem may lie in a corrupted Google profile, which happens after resetting settings, manually deleting system files, or incorrectly updating MIUI.
- Open Settings β Accounts and Sync β Google.
- Select your account and click Delete Account (not to be confused with Delete Data!).
- Confirm the deletion and restart the phone.

- Go to Settings β Connections and Sharing β Reset network settings.
- Confirm the reset (all saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords will be deleted).
- Connect to the network and check the Play Market.

- Open Settings β Wi-Fi (or Mobile Network if you use mobile Internet).
- Tap on the current network β Change the network β Additional settings β IP settings.
- Select Static and type: DNS 1: 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS) DNS 2: 8.8.4.4
Save your settings and reconnect to the network.
Why is it important to change DNS effectively?
Method 5: Update Google Play Services manually
On Xiaomi Redmi smartphones, Google services are sometimes delayed or no longer receive updates due to MIUI optimizations. If the version of Google Play Services is outdated, this can cause an error DF-DFERH-01.
- Download the latest version of Google Play Services from the official APKMirror website (choose the option for your architecture: arm64, armeabi-v7a or x86).
- Before installing, remove updates for Google Play Services through Settings β Apps.

- Download. APK-Application file from a verified source (e.g. APKPure or APKMirror).
- Before installing, allow installation from unknown sources: Go to Settings β Applications β Application Management β Settings (cogs) β Special Access β Install unknown applications. Select the browser or file manager you will install APK through and enable permission.
Install APK and launch the application.

β οΈ Note: Some applications (e.g. banking or with) DRM-protection) may not be effective when installed through APK. In this case, you will have to find alternative ways to solve the mistake. DF-DFERH-01.
Method 7: Reset to factory settings (extreme case)
