It is important to understand: Xiaomi supplies devices to Russia through the official distributor - Mi Russia. Only these smartphones have Russian firmware (RU), Mi Pay support, and have been certified by Rostest. "Gray" devices (brought from China, Europe or through parallel imports) can work normally, but the risks remain: from the absence of Russian language in system applications to sudden blocking by the operator.
We tested all the methods on 2023-2026 models (Redmi Note 13 Pro+, Xiaomi 14, POCO X6 Pro) and found out which ones give 100% results and which ones are only indirect hints.
1. Check by IMEI on the official website of Rostest
This is the only legal way that gives a definitive answer: Rostest has a database of all certified devices, including Xiaomi.

2. Box and configuration analysis
Xiaomi’s greys are often sold in the original boxes, but with key differences.

3. Check firmware and regional settings
Official Xiaomi for Russia have firmware with the RU region. You can check this in several ways:
- Go to Settings. → The phone. → Version. MIUI. Click a few times on the line with the version until the Additional information menu appears (RU).
- Enter the code ##4636##, select Phone Information and find the Country Code field – for Russia it is RU.
- Install the CPU-Z app and check the System tab – the Region bar should be Russia.

- Legalize through customs: If you brought the phone yourself (for example, from China), you can make a declaration and pay a fee, the cost is from 15% to 30% of the price of the device.
