Why WhatsApp photos aren’t displayed in Xiaomi Gallery and how to fix it

You downloaded photos from WhatsApp to your Xiaomi, but they stubbornly do not appear in the standard gallery? 1. Check your media saving settings on WhatsApp

The first thing to do is make sure WhatsApp stores files in the phone’s memory at all. By default, the messenger downloads media to internal memory, but sometimes the settings get lost after updating or reinstalling the app.

Open WhatsApp, tap three dots in the top right corner, and go to Settings → Storage and Data. Check here:

• 📁 Autoupload media: must be enabled at least for Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi and mobile data. If disabled, photos are not automatically saved.
• 🔄 Saving to the gallery: Media visibility must be active. If not, update WhatsApp to the latest version.

MIUI Optimized is a system application that aggressively manages background processes to save battery, sometimes blocking new media files from being scanned, especially if they were downloaded via messenger.

To check if the optimizer is to blame:
