The “No Memory Clearup Required” notification is one of the most annoying features of MIUI, which owners of Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones face, even when there is more than enough space, interferes with the notification panel and does not disappear after clicking. In this article, we will examine why the system stubbornly reminds you of cleaning when it is not really needed, and how to turn off this notification once and for all – from simple methods to radical solutions for power users.
The problem is relevant for all versions of MIUI (12 to 14), but is especially common on low-end models with a small amount of internal memory (32/64 GB), the manufacturer positions this as “user care”, but in practice the notification turns into spam that does not carry a payload. We have tested all methods on devices Redmi Note 10 Pro, POCO X3 Pro and Xiaomi 12T — and are ready to provide working solutions.
Why is there a notification about the memory clearing, if there is enough space?
The reason is that MIUI algorithms analyze not only free space, but also the types of files that are occupied, and the system can display a notification even at 15-20 GB of free if:
- 📁 Cache of applications takes more 3-5 GB (especially relevant for messengers and social networks).
- 🎮 Game data (such as Genshin Impact or Call of Duty Mobile) is stored in internal memory.
- 📥 Download files in the Download folder were not deleted for more than 30 days.
- 🔄 Background processes (e.g. Google Play Services update) temporarily reserve space.
- 📱 System backups (MIUI Backups) occupy hidden space.
In addition, MIUI 13/14 has added a smart cleanup mechanism that automatically scans memory and can ignore the real amount of free space, focusing on the “recommended” thresholds, for example, if you have 128 GB of memory, the system can consider at least 30 GB of free, otherwise it will remind you of the cleanup.
Another nuance is that the com.miui.cleanmaster, which is responsible for optimizing, sometimes freezes in a scan state and sends notifications constantly, even if the memory is clean.
Method 1: Disabling notifications from “Security” (without root)
The easiest and safest method is to disable notifications from the system application Security (com.miui.securitycenter), which will not remove the memory cleanup function, but will stop showing annoying reminders.
- Open Settings → Applications → Application Management.
- In the search bar, enter Security and select the application.
- Go to the Notifications section.
- Turn off the "Show Notifications" slider**.
- For reliability, also disable categories: 🔍 Optimization 🗑️ Cleaning up garbage ⚠️ Warnings
⚠️ Please note that you will not receive any notifications from the Security Service, including virus or unauthorized access warnings, if you are interested in these alerts, use alternative methods in the following sections.
☑️ Disabling Notifications from “Security»
Method 2: Cleaning the cache and data of the Clean Master application
If the notification appears because of a com.miui.cleanmaster malfunction, it will help to reset its data. This method does not require superuser rights and works on all versions of MIUI.
Instructions:
- Go to Settings → Applications → Application Management.
- In the search, type Clean Master (or Cleaning in Russian).
- Choose Warehouse.
- Click on “Clear Cache” and “Clear Data”.
- Reboot your smartphone.
After the reboot, Clean Master will recalculate the space occupied and will likely stop sending false notifications. If the problem persists, move on to the next method.
What happens if you delete the Clean Master data?
Method 3: Set up automatic cleaning (so that no notifications appear)
Instead of turning off notifications completely, you can set up automatic cleaning so that the system doesn’t feel like reminding you of it, which is a good method if you don’t mind MIUI deleting unnecessary files but want to get rid of spam in the curtain.
How to set up:
- Open the Security app (shield icon).
- Go to Clean Up (or Optimize in New Versions)
- Press on. ⚙️ Settings in upper right corner.
- Activate options: 🔄 Autocleaning when blocking the screen 🗑️ Delete the cache automatically 📁 Clean the Downloads folder** (set a period of 30 days)
"Clean it up"
After that, the system will keep the memory in its own “clean” state, and the notifications should disappear. If they continue to appear, check if the space is occupied by hidden files (for example, logs or backups).
| Parameter | Recommended value | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Autocleaning when blocked | Included. | Removes the cache when the screen is turned off |
| Delete the cache automatically | Included. | Clears the app cache once a day |
| Clear the Download folder | 30 days | Remove old files from Download |
| Deep cleaning | Disconnected. | Can delete the necessary data |
Method 4: Using ADB to disable system notifications (advanced)
If previous methods have failed, you can disable system-level notifications using the ADB (Android Debug Bridge. It doesn't require root rights, but it will require a computer and a computer. USB-cable.
Instructions:
- Turn on Developer Mode: Go to Settings → About Phone. Click 7 times on MIUI Version until the message “You’re a developer” appears.
USB debugging
Settings → Additional → For Developers
ADB
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.cleanmasterClean Master
Reset the device.
⚠️ Warning: Once this command is executed, the memory cleanup function will stop working completely. You won't be able to use the built-in optimization tools, but the notifications will disappear forever:
adb shell pm enable com.miui.cleanmaster💡
If you need to clear your memory after you turn off Clean Master, use third-party applications like SD Maid or Files by Google, which are more efficient than standard MIUI tools.
Method 5: Manually delete unnecessary files (if the notice is true)
Sometimes the notification appears for a reason - there are actually unnecessary files in the memory that the system cannot automatically delete, in which case manual cleaning will help.
What can be removed safely:
- 🗃️ App cache: Go to Settings → Warehouse → App data. Select applications with large cache (e.g. YouTube, Telegram, TikTok). Click "Clear cache»**.
- 📂 Download folder: Open Files (com.android.documentsui). Go to Internal Memory → Download, remove the old ones. APK, images and documents.
- 🎮 Game data: C Settings → Find the game (for example, PUBG Mobile. Select "Storage» → «Clear the data» (⚠️ It'll remove progress!).
- 📹 Photo/video duplicates: Use Google Files or Gallery to find duplicates.
If after manual cleaning the notification continues to appear, check the hidden folders:
- .thumbdata (image miniatures)
- MIUI/Backup (backups)
- Android/data (app data)
To view them, enable the display of hidden files in any file manager (for example, MiXplorer).
💡
Regular manual memory cleaning (once every 1-2 weeks) completely solves the problem with notifications on most Xiaomi devices, which is better than disabling system services, since MIUI functionality is preserved.
Method 6: Install custom firmware (for power users)
If none of the methods worked and the notification continues to annoy – a radical solution – to switch to custom firmware, for example:
- LineageOS (Pure Android without MIUI)
- Pixel Experience (like the Google Pixel interface)
- Xiaomi.EU (modified MIUI without spam)
Advantages of custom firmware:
- ✅ No Intrusive Cleanup Notices.
- ✅ More opportunities to set up.
- ✅ Regular security updates.
⚠️ Attention: custom firmware installation resets all data and may result in loss of warranty:
- Unlocking the bootloader (bootloader).
- Installation of custom recavery (TWRP).
- Backup of all data.
