Many users of Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones face a situation where the images received in the messenger are not displayed in the standard gallery, remaining hidden inside the application. Managing folder visibility through hidden files
One of the most common reasons for photos to disappear is the presence of a special tag file that hides the contents of the folder from the gallery. Once you delete the.nomedia file from the image folder, you need to restart the device or clear the Gallery app cache. The system will re-scan the storage, and the photos should appear in the general stream.

Configure permissions for the Gallery and Explorer application

When you first run Google Photos, you will ask to allow access to all media files on your device. Once you agree, the app will automatically find all images, including those that lie deep in the WhatsApp folders, and you can set up automatic sync with the cloud, which will be an additional protection against data loss.
In addition, Google Photos has a Device Folder feature, where you can manually select which folders to display in the main stream and add the WhatsApp Images directory, even if it is hidden for other applications.

Cleaning the cache and resetting the media scanner settings
Sometimes the problem is not the files, but the database of the media files of Android itself. Media service could cache the old state of the file system and not see changes. Forced clearing of the cache of this service helps to restart the indexing process.
