Many users face problems: the phone can’t see the card, data is not portable, or speed leaves much to be desired. In this article, we will examine all the steps from buying a suitable card to optimizing its operation, as well as examining typical errors and ways to fix them.
If you’re planning to use a memory card to store photos, videos or apps, it’s important to understand that not every microSD is suitable for the Redmi Note 7. Performance and compatibility depend on speed class, volume and even brand. Next, a step-by-step guide with all the technical details.
1. What? SD-Choose a map for Xiaomi Redmi Note 7
The smartphone supports microSD up to 256 GB, but not all cards are equally effective.

2 Where is the slot for SD-Maps in Redmi Note 7
Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is equipped with a hybrid slot that combines the space for the second SIM-microSD card, which means you can use either:
- 📱 Two nano-SIMs (without memory card).
- 📱 One nano-SIM + microSD (recommended option).
The slot is on the left end of the device, so you can open it.
- Turn off your phone (but not necessarily).
- Insert a paper clip or special key into the hole next to the slot.
- Carefully remove the tray.
Important: don't put too much effort into removing the tray, it can damage the mechanism. If the slot is jammed, contact the service center.

Before installing, make sure that the memory card is formatted in the appropriate file system (see Section 1).

For formatting directly on the phone:
- Go to Settings. → Warehouse → SD-map.
- Click Format → Internal Memory (if you want to use the card as an extension of the main storage) or Portable Device (for normal use).
- Confirm the action.

Attention: Formatting erases all data on the card! If it has important files, pre-copy them to your computer. Also avoid formatting the card in NTFS via Windows - Redmi Note 7 may not recognize it.

If the phone doesn’t offer an exFAT formatting option, format the card on your computer through the SD Formatter program (the official SD Association tool).
5 How to transfer data and applications SD-map
By default, applications are installed in internal memory, so you can transfer some of the data to the internal memory to free up space. SD-map:

For maximum performance, leave frequently used applications (social networks, instant messengers) in internal memory, and transfer games with large cache or rarely used programs to SD.
Typical problems and their solutions
Even with the right installation SD-maps can get crashed. Let's look at the most common ones:
The phone doesn't see the memory card:
- 🔄 Reset the device.
- 🔄 Check if the card is inserted correctly (contacts should be facing upwards).
- 🔄 Try formatting the map in exFAT on PC.
- 🔄 If the card has been previously used on another device, perform Safe Extract before installing it in Redmi Note 7.
The card is defined as "damaged":
