Xiaomi Redmi 7A is one of the most popular budget smartphones, but its 16 or 32 GB of internal memory is quickly clogged with garbage. Photos, app cache, system updates and hidden MIUI files can eat up to 50% of the available space, even if you have not installed anything in a long time. In this article, we will analyze all the ways to clean memory โ from basic to advanced, including those that are not obvious in standard settings.
The Redmi 7A feature is that there is no memory card slot in some versions (depending on the region), which means that cleaning the internal storage becomes critical: when you fill up 90%, the smartphone starts to slow down, the applications fly out, and the camera refuses to save photos. We tested all methods on the current version of MIUI 14 (Android 9 Pie) and identified those that give the maximum effect without risk of damaging the system.
1. Analysis of occupied space: what exactly is the memory?
Before you clean, you need to figure out which files eat up the most space. Redmi 7A has a built-in storage analyzer, but it's hidden in the back of the menu.
- Go to Settings โ About the phone โ Storage.
- Slip on the schedule of occupied space (not by number!).
- Wait for the scan (can take up to 2 minutes).
The system will show the distribution by categories: Applications, Images, Videos, Audio, Documents and System Data.
- ๐ฑ "Others, often hidden here before 3-5 GB of garbage (logs, temporary files, remnants of remote applications).
- ๐๏ธ "Cash: If itโs over 1GB, itโs time to clean it.
- ๐ "System updates" โ MIUI Likes to download them in the background and does not delete after installation.
An important nuance: in Redmi 7A, the System Data category can take up to 8-10 GB even on a clean device. This is normal - it stores firmware files, Android kernel and MIUI service information. Don't try to delete them manually!
2.Cleaning the application cache: safe and efficient
Cache is a temporary file that apps create to make things faster, and over time, it accumulates and can take up several gigabytes. Redmi 7A has two ways to delete it:
Method 1: Through storage settings
- Open the settings โ About the phone โ Storage.
- Tap the cached data section.
- Confirm the cleanup (click "OK").
Method 2: For individual applications
If you need to clean the cache of a particular app (such as YouTube or Telegram):
- Go to Settings โ Applications โ Application Management.
- Select the appropriate app (e.g. Gallery).
- Slip the Storage" โ "Clear the cache".
โ ๏ธ Warning: Don't confuse "Clear Cache" and "Clean Data"! The second option will delete all application settings (logins, saves), and it will have to be reconfigured.
Cache all the apps.|Downloads (Download folder)|Old screenshots|Duplicate photos|Remnants of Remote Applications (.trash folder)-->
3. manually delete unnecessary files
MIUI creates many hidden folders that you can't see in a standard file manager, and you'll need a root Explorer (like Solid Explorer or FX File Manager) to find them.
| Type of file | Folder/path | What can be removed | Risks. |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remains of updates | /sdcard/MIUI/backup/AllBackup | Old backups (if not needed) | Low. |
| Logs of the system | /sdcard/MIUI/debug_log | All files with the.log extension | Low. |
| Cash galleries | /sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails | Photo and video miniatures | Medium (will have to be regenerated) |
| Temporary files | /sdcard/Android/data/*/cache | Cache of individual applications | Low (Apps will create new ones) |
๐น How to enable the display of hidden files:
- Open Solid Explorer (or other Explorer)
- Stick to three points (โฎ) top-right.
- Select "Settings" โ "Show hidden files".
๐ก
Before you delete the folders, back them up on your computer, and if something stops working after cleaning it, you can return the files back.
4. Optimization of MIUI system applications
Xiaomi is known for installing many pre-installed apps (bloatware) on smartphones that cannot be removed by standard methods. In Redmi 7A, these are:
- ๐ต Mi Music and Mi Video โ Dubbed Google Play Music and YouTube.
- ๐ฐ Mi Browser โ a slow browser with ads.
- ๐ GetApps, Mi Pay, Mi Credit โ unnecessary services for Russia.
- ๐ก Mi Remote โ if you do not use the remote for equipment.
You can remove them in two ways:
Method 1: Through ADB (without root)
You will need a computer with ADB drivers installed and USB debugging enabled on your phone.
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.miui.videoplayer
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.miui.player
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.browser
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.xiaomi.mipicksMethod 2: Disconnect (without deleting)
If ADB seems complicated, you can simply turn off the apps:
- Go to Settings โ Applications โ Application Management.
- Select an unneeded app (such as Mi Browser).
- Tap "Disable" (the button will become active only after pressing the three-points). โฎ).
โ ๏ธ Note: Do not remove system applications called com.android. or com.miui. unless you are sure of their purpose!

5. Transfer data to a memory card (if there is a slot)
Some Redmi 7A versions support microSD cards up to 256 GB. If you have such a model, you can transfer some of the data to an external drive:
What can be transferred:
- ๐ท Photos and video (folder) DCIM).
- ๐ต Music and podcasts.
- ๐ Documents (PDF, Word, Excel).
- ๐ฎ Data from certain games (if the game supports transfer).
How to move:
- Put the memory card in the slot (if any).
- Open the Explorer (or Gallery for photo).
- Select files, tap "Move" โ select a memory card.
- Confirm the transfer.
โ ๏ธ Note: Not all apps support card-based memory, such as WhatsApp and Telegram, by default, store media in internal memory:
- On WhatsApp: Settings โ Storage โ Path to the folder (select a memory card).
- In Telegram: Settings โ Data and memory โ folder for downloads.
๐ก
Transferring applications to a memory card in Redmi 7A is not possible โ this feature is disabled in MIUI for budget models.
6.Reset to factory settings: a last resort
If the memory is so full that the smartphone is unstable and standard methods do not help, then a hard reset remains, which will delete all data, including apps, photos and settings, so first:
- ๐ Backup important files to your computer or cloud.
- ๐ Write down logins/passwords from accounts (they will disappear!).
- ๐ฑ Make sure you know the details from your Mi Account (required to unlock after resetting).
Resetting instructions:
- Go to Settings โ Additional โ Recovery and Reset.
- Select "Settings Reset."
- Mark "Clear internal memory" (optional if you want to erase everything).
- Confirm the action and wait for the reboot (it will take 5-10 minutes).
Once reset, the smartphone will look like new, but MIUI can start clogging memory again with updates and cache.
- ๐ซ Turn off automatic update downloads in Settings โ The phone. โ Updating the system โ โฎ โ Settings.
- ๐ก๏ธ Install. SD Maid or Files by Google for regular cleaning.
