Xiaomi 8T is one of the most popular smartphones of the brand, but even it eventually begins to โslow downโ due to cache cache clogged. If your device becomes slower, applications are loaded for a long time, and memory unexpectedly ends โ the problem is most likely in the accumulated temporary files. In this article, we will discuss how to properly clear the cache on Xiaomi 8T (including the hidden system cache), without damaging the data and resetting.
There are three types of cache: application cache (temporary program files), Dalvik cache (optimized code for fast Android), and system cache (updates and firmware files). Cleaning each type requires different actions, from a simple tap in the settings to using Recovery Mode. We will look at all methods, including those that the official documentation of Xiaomi does not advertise.
Important: on the Xiaomi 8T (M1810F6LG), the cache can take up to 5-7 GB of active use over the course of a year. It's not just junk โ some files speed up the system, but the excess of them leads to the opposite effect.
1. Clearing the cache of individual applications through settings
The safest way is to remove the cache of specific programs that take up the most space, which does not affect system files and does not require superuser rights.
To see the list of apps with the largest cache:
- Open Settings โ Applications โ Application Management.
- Slip on the three dots in the upper right corner and select Sort by size.
- In the list on top will be programs with the maximum amount of cache (usually messengers, social networks and browsers).
To clean the cache of a particular application:
- ๐ฑ Click on the program name (such as WhatsApp or Chrome).
- ๐๏ธ Select Warehouse. โ Clear the cache.
- โ ๏ธ Do not click Clear data โ this will delete all settings and files of the account!
Close all background programs |Check out the space available |Back up important data (e.g. chats) |Remember account passwords (they wonโt reset, but just in case)
-->
Which apps to clean first? In the top cache volume on Xiaomi 8T usually:
| Annex | Typical cache size | Can I clean without consequences? |
|---|---|---|
| 500 MB - 1.5 GB | Yes (but I'll have to re-upload the media) | |
| Google Chrome | 300MB - 1GB | Yes (history and bookmarks will persist) |
| Telegram | 1 GB - 3 GB | Yes (but the media files will have to be re-downloaded) |
| MIUI Gallery | 200 MB - 800 MB | No (album sorting may reset) |
โ ๏ธ Note: After cleaning the cache of Google Play Services or MIUI System smartphones can temporarily run slower, and it will take time to reassemble optimized files. Don't worry, in 10-15 minutes, the speed will return to normal.
2. Automatic cleaning of the cache through "Lean mode"
MIUI on Xiaomi 8T has a built-in auto optimization feature that, among other things, cleans the cache of background apps. This method is less radical than manual cleaning, but is suitable for regular maintenance.
How to turn on:
- Go to Settings โ Battery and Performance โ Lean Mode.
- Activate the Cache Cleanup Switch.
- Click Clean Now to start the process manually.
Advantages of the method:
- ๐ It works automatically (you can set the schedule).
- ๐ก๏ธ Does not remove the cache of system applications critical to stability.
- ๐ Reduces the load on the Snapdragon 845 processor in Xiaomi 8T.
Limitations: Lean mode doesnโt clear Dalvik cache and system update files, and if the smartphone is slowing down, youโll have to use more radical methods (see the following sections).
๐ก
If the cache accumulates again quickly after automatic cleaning, check the applications for background activity. For example, Facebook and Instagram can download data to the cache even when closed. Turn off auto-update for such programs in Settings โ Apps โ Auto-Run.
3. Clean Dalvik cache and system cache via Recovery
This is a good way for power users to delete optimized system files (Dalvik cache) and temporary update files, which can speed up the Xiaomi 8T, but requires care.
Instructions:
- Turn off your smartphone.
- Press the Power button + Volume up until the Mi logo appears (this is the entrance to Recovery Mode).
- Choose your language (if required).
- Go to Wipe & Reset โ Wipe Cache.
- Confirm the action with the swipe or the Yes button.
- Once completed, select Reboot to reboot.
What exactly is being cleaned:
- ๐๏ธ Dalvik cache (reassembles at next launch).
- ๐ Temporary update files MIUI.
- ๐ซ Not affected: user data, photos, messages.
โ ๏ธ Note: If after cleaning the cache through Recovery smartphone is long loaded (more than 5 minutes), do not interrupt the process! 8T Reassemble the Dalvik cache, and the interruption can lead to a reboot cycle.
What if after cleaning the cache in Recovery the phone does not turn on?
4. Radical Cleanup: Cache reset via ADB (for advanced)
If standard methods don't work, you can use ADB (Android Debug Bridge) for deep cleaning, which requires a computer and enabled USB debugging.
Preparation:
- Turn on the developer mode on Xiaomi 8T:
Cleanup commands:
adb shell
su
pm clear --all (clears the cache of all user applications)
rm -r /data/dalvik-cache/* (clears Dalvik cache)
rm -r /cache/* (clears the system cache)
rebootWarnings:
- ๐ง Root rights are required (on Xiaomi) 8T You can get them through Magisk).
- ๐ฅ Incorrect commands can result in data loss or device blink.
๐ก
Use ADB only if other methods have not worked. For most Xiaomi 8T users, cleaning the cache through Recovery or setting up apps is enough.
5. How to Clear the Cache of Google Play Services and Other System Apps
Some system programs (such as Google Play Services or MIUI Daemon) donโt have a โClear Cacheโ button in the standard menu.
Method 1: Through Settings โ All applications
- Find the right app (like Google Play Services).
- Click Warehouse โ Space Management โ Clear all data.
- Confirm the action (this will remove both the cache and the program settings).
Method 2: Using MIUI Optimization (Hidden Function)
- ๐ Enter the settings in search ##4636##.
- ๐ Go to the Usage Statistics โ Clear the cache.
- โก Select system applications and confirm the cleanup.
โ ๏ธ Attention: Clearing the Google Play Services cache can lead to Google account sync errors and Play Market issues. After the procedure, restart your smartphone and wait for automatic service recovery (can take up to 10 minutes).
6.Alternative methods: applications for cleaning the cache
There are hundreds of cache cleaning utilities on Google Play, but not all of them are safe. We tested a few on Xiaomi 8T and selected the most effective ones:
| Annex | Pluses | Cons | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| SD Maid | Deep cleaning, works without root | Paid version for full functionality | โญโญโญโญ |
| CCleaner | Simple interface, cleans cache and garbage | Aggressive Advertising in the Free Version | โญโญโญ |
| Files by Google | Official from Google, secure | Clears only the user cache | โญโญโญโญ |
| MIUI Cleaner | Built into firmware, optimized for Xiaomi | Does not clear the system cache | โญโญโญโญโญ |
Selection advice:
- ๐ก๏ธ Avoid programs called โSuper Cleanerโ or โBoost Masterโ โ they often contain malicious code.
- ๐ Check reviews and ratings before installation (should be higher than 4.0).
- ๐ต Do not give applications Administrator or Accessibility rights without the need.
On Xiaomi 8T, we recommend using MIUI Cleaner (built-in) or SD Maid (for deep cleaning).
7.How often do I need to clean the cache on Xiaomi 8T?
The cleaning frequency depends on the intensity of smartphone use. Here are the general recommendations:
- ๐ฑ Regular users: 1 time in 1-2 months (cleaning the application cache through settings).
- ๐ฎ Gamers and active users: 1 time every 2-3 weeks (including Dalvik cache via Recovery).
- ๐ง After the updates MIUI: Be sure to clean the system cache to avoid glitches.
- โ ๏ธ If the smartphone is slowing down: Check the cache first, but don't clean it more than 1 time a week - it can hurt performance.
Signs that it is time to clean the cache:
- ๐ข Applications are long to open or fly out.
- ๐ Free memory less than 10% (checked in Settings) โ Warehouse).
- ๐ The smartphone spontaneously reboots.
- ๐ฑ Heated for no apparent reason (cache can load the processor).
๐ก
If the brake problem persists after cleaning the cache, check Settings โ Battery โ Performance Mode. The Xiaomi 8T sometimes has an automatic CPU power limit that can be manually disabled.
