Why it is important to reserve contacts with Xiaomi on PC
Xiaomiโs current MIUI smartphones store contacts in the cloud, but local copy on your computer remains the most reliable way to protect against data loss. Imagine if your phone is stolen, it breaks, or you accidentally reset your settings to factory settings. Without a backup, it will be extremely difficult to restore numbers โ especially if synchronization with Google Account is disabled.
Porting contacts to a PC solves several tasks simultaneously: creates a backup, allows you to edit numbers on the big screen and import them to other devices (for example, an iPhone or a corporate phone). In this article, we will analyze 5 proven methods, including official MIUI tools and third-party utilities, taking into account the features of different models โ from Redmi Note 10 to Xiaomi 14 Pro.
Important: the methods vary in speed, security and supported export formats, for example, exporting through MIUI Contacts saves contacts in.vcf (business card), and synchronizing with Google Contacts allows you to work with data directly in the browser.
Method 1: Exporting contacts through the standard MIUI application
The easiest method is to use the built-in Contacts app in MIUI, which does not require an internet connection and works even on phones without a Google Account attached, and is suitable for all Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO models based on MIUI 12-14.
Instructions:
- ๐ฑ Open the Contacts app on your phone.
- ๐ Press three points (โฎ) top-right โ Select Contact Management.
- ๐ค Tap Import/Export Contacts โ Export to device.
- ๐ Choose which contacts to export (all or only with) SIM-card/account) โ confirm the export.
- ๐พ The contacts.vcf file will be saved in the Download folder or MIUI/backup/Contacts.
Now connect the phone to the PC through USB-cable (in file transfer mode) and copy the.vcf file to a convenient location. It can be opened in Outlook, Excel or any contact manager.
Google syncs are disabled (so that no duplicate contacts are made)
There is enough memory on the phone to create a.vcf file.
USB-The cable supports data transfer (not just charging)
Download folder is not hidden from viewing on PC-->
โ ๏ธ Attention: If you have MIUI Global older than version 12.5, the exported file may contain Cyrillic characters encoding UTF-8. To avoid cracosjabr when opening on PC, use Notepad++ LibreOffice for correct display.
Method 2: Sync with Google Contacts
If your Xiaomi is linked to a Google Account, this method will not only allow you to transfer contacts to your PC, but also automatically update them when changes are made, and is suitable for users who actively use Google services (Gmail, Calendar).
How to set up synchronization:
- ๐ง Go to Settings. โ Accounts and synchronization โ Google.
- ๐ Make sure the switch opposite Contact is active (if not, turn on).
- ๐ฅ๏ธ On your computer, open your browser and go to contacts.google.com.
- ๐ Sign in with the same account as on your phone.
- ๐ฅ Here you will see all contacts with Xiaomi. To export, click Export (on the left menu) โ Select the format (Google) CSV vCard) โ Export.
Important: If you previously edited contacts directly to Google, you may see duplicates on your phone. To avoid this, clear your contacts in Google before syncing or use the merge tool at contacts.google.com (Menu Others โ Find and Combine duplicates).

| Method | Pluses | Cons | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exports via MIUI | It does not require the internet, it works offline. | Manual process, no automatic update | One-time portability to PC |
| Google Contacts | Automatic synchronization, access from any device | Google account is required, duplicates are possible | Permanent backup |
| Bluetooth | Wireless, suitable for older PCs | Slow transmission, limiting the number of contacts | Transfer to a laptop without USB-cable |
Method 3: Transfer of contacts over Bluetooth
If you're not on hand USB-You can use Bluetooth, which is a method that is suitable for transferring contacts to a laptop or PC with a Bluetooth adapter (a common feature in most modern devices), and the transmission speed is lower than that of a cable, but does not require additional programs.
Step-by-step:
- ๐ถ Turn on Bluetooth on your phone (Settings) โ Bluetooth and PC.
- ๐ค Connect devices: on PC, select Add device, on phone confirm pairing.
- ๐ฑ Open the Contacts app on Xiaomi, select the contacts you want (or click on) โฎ โ Highlight everything).
- ๐ค Press Share. โ Choose Bluetooth โ Select your PC from the list.
- ๐พ On your computer, confirm the file's acceptance. Contacts will be saved in.vcf format.
Limitations of the method:
- โ You can transfer no more than 100 contacts at a time (depending on the phone model).
- โ Some special symbols (e.g., emojis in names) may not be displayed correctly.
- โ On the PC should be enabled Bluetooth detection mode.

If Bluetooth doesnโt find a phone on your PC, try restarting both devices or updating adapter drivers (via Windows Device Manager).
Method 4: Use of third-party software (Mi PC Suite, MobileTrans)
For users looking for advanced features (for example, transferring contacts along with a call history or SMS), specialized utilities are suitable.
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Mi PC Suite โ the official software from Xiaomi for managing the phone from the PC. Supports backup contacts, photos and applications.
- ๐ MobileTrans (from Wondershare) is a paid program for data migration between devices (including iPhone, Samsung and Xiaomi).
Instructions for Mi PC Suite:
- ๐ฅ Download the program from the official website and install it on PC.
- ๐ Connect Xiaomi to your computer via USB (Turn on the debugging. USB In Settings โ The phone. โ Version. MIUI โ 7 times press the version โ Return to the Additional Settings โ For developers).
- ๐ In the program, select the Backup tab. โ mark the contact โ press Backup.
- ๐พ The backup file will be saved in the program folder. To export contacts separately, find the file with the.ab extension and use the built-in recovery tool.
โ ๏ธ Note: When using MobileTrans, disable the antivirus for the duration of the transfer - some versions of the program may be blocked as potentially dangerous (false positive). Also check that the phone allows access to contacts for the application (Settings) โ Annexes โ Permit management).
Method 5: Transfer through Xiaomi (Mi Cloud)
If you use a Mi Account to back up, contacts are automatically saved to Mi Cloud, a method that is convenient for owners of multiple Xiaomi devices, as it allows you to synchronize data between them.
How to transfer contacts from Mi Cloud to your computer:
- ๐ Go to i.mi.com and log in.
- โ๏ธ In the menu, select Mi Cloud. โ Contacts.
- ๐ฅ Click Export (cog icon in upper right corner) โ Choose the vCard format.
- ๐พ The file will be uploaded to a PC, and can be imported to Outlook or Google Contacts if necessary.
The advantage of this is that you can access contacts from any device, even if your phone is lost. But the Mi Cloud has a limitation: there's only 5GB of storage available for free. If you have thousands of contacts with photos, you may need to clean up or buy extra space.
What if Mi Cloud doesnโt sync your contacts?
Comparison of methods: which one to choose?
The choice of method depends on your goals:
- ๐น For a quick one-time transfer - export through MIUI Contacts (Method 1) or Bluetooth (Method 3).
- ๐น For automatic backup, Google Contacts (Method 2) or Mi Cloud (Method 5).
- ๐น For transferring together with other data (SMS, Photos - Mi PC Suite or MobileTrans (Method 4).
If you change phones frequently or work with contacts on multiple devices, the best way to use Google Contacts is to export one-time backup before selling your phone through MIUI. If you want to transfer contacts to an iPhone, you should use MobileTrans, which supports cross-platform migration.
๐ก
The most universal way is to export to the.vcf file via MIUI. It works without the Internet, does not require registration and is compatible with any devices and programs (Outlook, Excel, Android, iOS).
