The clipboard on Xiaomi Redmi 9T is a temporary storage for text, links and images that you copy. Over time, it gets filled with unnecessary data, which can slow down your smartphone or pose risks of leaking sensitive information. Unlike iOS, where the buffer is reset automatically, MIUI saves the copy history until you manually clean it.
Many users are unaware that the Redmi 9T clipboard can store up to 50 last items (depending on the version of MIUI), which is convenient for frequent copies, but dangerous if you have worked with passwords, bank details or personal correspondence. In this article, we will analyze all the current cleaning methods, from standard tools to hidden firmware functions.
The Redmi 9T (M2010J19SG) feature is that the clipboard is integrated into the Notepad (Notes) system application, which means that simply deleting the Keyboard application data won't help - you need to know the exact paths. We tested all methods on MIUI 12.5, 13 and 14, so the instructions are relevant to any firmware on your device.
Important: If you use third-party keyboards (Gboard, SwiftKey), they may have their own separate buffer, and cleaning it is described in the last section of the article.
1. Standard cleaning through "Notepad and Notes"
The most reliable way is to use the built-in Mi Notes system application, which manages the history of the clipboard on Redmi 9T. This method works even without root rights and does not require the installation of additional programs.
Open the Notepad app (yellow notebook icon) If it's not on the home screen, search the system (Conductor) โ Search โ "Notepad. In the upper right corner, tap three points (โฎ) and select "Buffer Exchange".
Here you'll see all the saved items: text, links, screenshots, even copies from messengers, to delete everything at once:
- Click on "Manage" (or "Edit" in newer versions of MIUI).
- Tick all the elements or select "Select all".
- Slap on the basket icon (๐๏ธ) bottom-line.
โ ๏ธ Attention: B MIUI 14 after cleaning the buffer, the cache of the last 5 elements may remain. To remove it completely, restart the smartphone.
Copy any text and check if it is displayed in history |Open the keyboard in the messenger and check the tab "Buffer" |Reboot the device and repeat copy |Make sure that old data does not appear after the reboot-->
Cleaning through system settings (MIUI 12.5 and later)
Starting with MIUI 12.5, Xiaomi added a separate section to manage the clipboard in the system settings, a method that is faster than using Notepad, but doesnโt always delete hidden temporary files.
Go to: Settings โ Additional settings โ Clipboard
If there is no such item, try an alternative path:
Settings โ Annexes โ Application management โ Three points (โฎ) โ Show system-based โ Find the Exchange Buffer MIUI"
In the menu you will see:
- ๐ Copy history โ list of all saved items.
- โ๏ธ Synchronization settings โ you can turn off cloud buffer backup here (if enabled).
- ๐งน "Clean Everything โ a button for a complete reset.
โ ๏ธ If the โclean up everythingโ button is inactive, the buffer is already empty or your version is inactive. MIUI - block the clean-up due to security policy, in which case use the method in Section 1 or Section 3.

3. Manual deletion of buffer files (for power users)
If standard methods donโt work, you can manually delete clipboard files through root Explorer or ADB. This method is suitable for users who are willing to work with system folders.
The clipboard in MIUI is stored in two ways:
/data/data/com.miui.notes/files/clipboard/
/data/data/com.android.providers.media/module_clipboard/To clean them up:
- Install a root access explorer (such as FX Explorer or Solid Explorer).
- Follow these paths and delete all files inside the folders.
- Reboot your smartphone.
โ ๏ธ Note: Incorrectly deleting files in /data/data/ It could cause system applications to crash. 9T s MIUI 14 after manually cleaning the buffer, you may need to reset the keyboard settings (Settings) โ System system โ Reset โ Resetting keyboard settings).
What if there are no root rights?
4. Cleaning through third-party applications
If you need to clean the clipboard regularly, it's more convenient to use specialized utilities that not only delete the history, but also block the retention of new items.
The best apps for Redmi 9T:
- ๐ก๏ธ Clipboard Manager โ allows you to selectively remove items and configure automatic cleaning.
- ๐งน Clear Clipboard - a minimalist utility with a widget for quick reset.
- ๐ Clipboard Cleaner Pro โ Deletes buffer and encrypts temporary files.
When you first run any of these applications, give them permission to access the clipboard (Settings โ Applications โ Permissions โ Clipboard). Some utilities (such as Clipboard Manager) may conflict with the built-in Mi Keyboard, in which case, turn off the system keyboard in the language settings.
โ ๏ธ Note: Google Play apps canโt completely clear the system buffer MIUI โ They only work with their internal storage. To clean them completely, combine them with standard partition methods. 1-2.

If the history continues to persist after installing the third-party clipboard manager, open the application settings and enable the option โBlock System Bufferโ.
5. Reset keyboard settings (last resort)
If the clipboard still does not clear, the problem may be in the cache of the system keyboard. On Redmi 9T, this is solved by resetting the Mi Keyboard or Gboard settings (depending on the keyboard used).
For the Mi Keyboard reset:
- Go to Settings โ Applications โ Application Management.
- Find the MIUI Keyboard (or com.miui.miuiinput).
- Select "Storage" โ "Clear Data" and "Clear Cache".
For the Gboard reset:
- Open Settings โ System โ Language and input โ Virtual Keyboard โ Gboard.
- Tap on "Three dots (โฎ) โ Settings โ Clear the data".
โ ๏ธ Note: After resetting the keyboard, you will have to reset again:
- Set up the input languages.
- Connect the user dictionary (if used).
- Enable gestures (e.g. swipe to enter).

Resetting the keyboard is the most radical method, but it is guaranteed to remove all traces of the clipboard, including hidden temporary files.
