When important images suddenly disappear from a device, it always takes you by surprise. Users of Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones often face the disappearance of media files due to software failures, accidental deletion or synchronization problems.
Modern Android operating systems and the MIUI or HyperOS shell have multiple layers of information security. Deleted files are not always physically erased from the drive instantly. Checking the folder “Recently deleted” in the Gallery

To find missing photos, open the standard Gallery app. At the bottom of the screen, go to the Album tab. Scroll down to the Other Albums section and select Recently Deleted. There may be hundreds of files that you accidentally erased or that were deleted when you cache.

To prevent the "disappeared photo" situation from happening again, you need to have an automatic backup system, and manually saving to a computer once a month is good, but not enough for an active life.
Set up automatic downloads to Google Photos or Yandex.Disk. These services allow you to free up space on your device by automatically deleting images already uploaded to the cloud, which creates a sense of free space without the risk of loss.
Check memory status regularly. A crowded drive is one of the common causes of MIUI multimedia database failures. When memory is filled, the system may not index new files correctly or lose track of old ones.
