Where on Xiaomi saves call records: all possible folders and recovery methods

Have you turned on a recording of an important conversation on Xiaomi, but now you can't find the file? Or have you accidentally deleted the recording and want to restore it? The problem with finding audio files of calls is one of the most common among users of Xiaomi smartphones on MIUI. The fact is that the location of the recordings depends on the firmware version, the phone model and even on which application was used to record.

1. Standard place of record storage in MIUI (default)

If you recorded a call through the built-in MIUI function (available on most models except for some regions due to restrictions), then the files must be saved to one of the system folders.

• 📁 MIUI 12–14: /storage/emulated/0/MIUI/sound_recorder/call_rec/
• 📁 MIUI 15+: /storage/emulated/0/Recordings/Call/ (or /Call Recordings/ on some models)
• 📁 For the Redmi Note 10/11/12: Sometimes the records are duplicated in /DCIM/CallRecordings/

To find the folder:

1. Open the Explorer (the Files app).
2. Go to the Device (or Internal Memory) section.
3. Turn on the hidden folder display (if you can’t see MIUI or Recordings).
4. Look for files with the.amr extension or.mp3 and- Call_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.

Important: on some models (e.g. Xiaomi 13T or POCO F5), records can be saved automatically to the Mi Cloud. Check Settings → Xiaomi Account → Mi Cloud → Backups.

2.Why are the phone records not displayed in the gallery?

Many users are faced with the fact that the recordings are in the memory of the phone, but not shown in the standard gallery or music player.

3. Where do users of third-party applications look for records?

If you use third-party call recording software (such as Cube Call Recorder ACR, Call Recorder by Lovekesh or Boldbeast), the storage paths will be different.

🔎 How to find it: Open the app's settings to write -- usually it's a save path. ACR It's the settings. → Folder of the record.

Note: Some applications (e.g. Boldbeast) require manually specifying a save path when you first start up, and if you don’t set it up, the records can be saved to a temporary folder and deleted after the restart.

4. How to transfer the recordings of calls to the computer or the cloud?

If you need to save records for a long time or make room on your phone, transfer them to your PC or to cloud storage.

• 💻 Through USB-cable: Connect your phone to your PC in File Transfer mode (MTP). Find the folder with the records (see sections above). Copy the files to your computer.

To the cloud:

• 📁 Google Drive: Upload files via the app or web version.

⚠️ Note: when you transfer.amr records to Windows, they may not play without additional codecs. Install the K-Lite Codec Pack or convert files to Windows.mp3 pre-existingly.

5. How to recover deleted call records?

If you accidentally delete the records, you can try to restore them. Success depends on how long it took and whether you used the phone after deleting (new data can overwrite old ones).

6. Call recording settings in MIUI: where is the function enabled?

If you can't find the records, maybe the recording feature is just disabled in the settings. On Xiaomi, it can be hidden or blocked depending on the region. Here's how to find it:

📱 For MIUI 12–14:

1. Open the Phone app.
2. Press three points (⋮) top-right → Settings.
3. Select Call Recording (or Call Recording).
4. Turn on the option and select which calls to record (all incoming/outgoing only).

📱 For MIUI 15+ (or if there is no point):

1. Go to Settings → Applications → Permissions → Additional → Call Recording.
2. Enable permission for the Phone application.
3. If you don’t have an option, install a third-party app (like Cube ACR).

On models for Europe (EEA), the built-in call record is disabled due to GDPR. Use third-party apps or change the firmware region.
