You downloaded an important document, photo or video to your Xiaomi Redmi, but can’t find out where exactly the file was saved? The Downloads folder in Xiaomi smartphones often becomes a headache for users — its location depends on the version of MIUI, the browser and even the settings of specific applications. Unlike Android in a “clean” form, where everything is stored in /storage/emulated/0/Download, Xiaomi distributes files into several directories, and sometimes even hides them from the user’s eyes.

1. Standard location of the Downloads folder in MIUI
By default, all files downloaded through the Xiaomi Browser, Chrome or Firefox browser are saved to the folder:
/storage/emulated/0/DownloadBut there are nuances:
- 📁 V MIUI 14 and later folder can be called Downloads (English version) or Downloads (Russian localization).
- 🔄 On some models (Redmi) 8, Redmi 9) Xiaomi duplicates files into /storage/emulated/0/MIUI/Download — This is not a bug, but a feature of the shell.
- 🌐 If you download files via Telegram or WhatsApp, they get into the /storage/emulated/0/Telegram or /WhatsApp/Media.
To find the folder quickly:
- Open the Files app** (Blue folder icon).
- Go to the Category tab → Downloads.
- If there is no folder, tap on the three dots in the upper right corner and select Show Hidden Files.

In MIUI 13 and older, the Downloads folder can only be displayed after the first download of the file. If you haven't downloaded anything, the directory will be empty and hidden.
2.Why downloads don't show up in the Download folder
If you are sure that the files have been downloaded, but the Download folder is empty, the reasons may be as follows:

3. How to change the default download saving path
If you don't like the standard location of the Download folder, you can reconfigure it.
🔹 In the standard browser Xiaomi (Mi Browser):
- Open your browser and tap three dots at the bottom of the screen.
- Select Settings → Basic settings.
- Find the Downloads folder and specify a new path (e.g. /storage/emulated/0/MyDownloads).
🔹 Google Chrome:
- Open Chrome and type in the address bar: chrome://settings/downloads.
- Slip to Location and select a new folder.
Chrome on Android does not allow you to create new folders directly in the settings – first create it through Files**.
🔹 In Mozilla Firefox:
- Go to Settings → Downloads.
- Select the Download Folder and point your way.

Note: If you point the way to SD-map, /storage/1234-5678/Downloads), Some apps may not see files due to Android's restrictions on accessing external drives.
4. Where Xiaomi stores downloads from messengers and social networks
Social media and instant messengers often ignore the standard Download folder and save files in their directories.

⚠️ Note: If you delete a file from a WhatsApp or Telegram chat, it will automatically disappear from the folder on your phone (unless the option “Save in the Gallery” is disabled»).
5. Search for downloads via PC (Windows/macOS/Linux)
Sometimes it's easier to connect Redmi to your computer and find files through Explorer.
- Connect your phone to your PC through USB-cable (use the original cable for a stable connection).
- On your phone, select File Transfer (MTP) mode in the connection notification.
- On PC, open “This Computer”** (Windows) or Finder (macOS) – your Redmi will appear as a removable drive.
If the folder is not:
