Have you downloaded an important document or photo but can’t find it on your Xiaomi? Download Manager is a built-in MIUI tool that manages all files received through a browser, messengers or mail. However, its location and functionality often change depending on the version of the shell, which causes confusion even for experienced users. In this article, we will not only show you where the download manager on modern Redmi, POCO and Xiaomi smartphones is located, but also reveal hidden features of this tool that you may not know about.
Complicating the problem is that the manufacturer regularly updates the MIUI interface (current version 2026 – MIUI 15), porting or hiding certain features. For example, in older versions, the download manager was a separate application, and now it is often integrated into Files or the Browser. We analyzed all possible scenarios and collected universal instructions that will suit models from Redmi Note 12 to flagship Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
We'll focus on common errors: why files don't show up in the Manager, how to recover randomly deleted downloads, and what to do if the system says "No files" when you've definitely downloaded something. We've added screenshots from different versions of MIUI and a feature compatibility table to make it clear.
1. Standard Location of Download Manager in MIUI 12-15
In the latest versions of the MIUI shell (starting with the 12th), the Download Manager is no longer a separate application, and its functions are now divided into three main sections:
- 📁 Annex “Files» → Download tab. This is the main place where all downloaded files (from the browser, Telegram, mail, etc.) are stored. → Categories → Downloads.
- 🌐 Xiaomi (or Google Chrome) Browser only shows files downloaded through that particular browser. → Downloads.
- ⚙️ System settings → Annexes → Application management → All applications → Download manager, you can cache it or turn off the auto-clean.
Important: On some models (e.g. POCO F5 or Redmi K60), the Download tab in the Files app may be hidden to return it:
- Open the files.
- Slip on three dots in the upper right corner → Settings.
- Enable the option to Show the category "Downloads".
On smartphones with MIUI 15 Download Manager automatically sorts files by type: images go to Gallery, documents go to Documents, and archives stay in Downloads. This can be confusing if you're looking. PDF-The file is in the download folder, and it has already been transferred to the Documents.
2.Where the downloads are physically stored: the path to the folder in the phone's memory
All files downloaded through the browser or messengers are saved by default in the Download system folder, which can be found in two ways:
- Through file manager: Open the Files app. Go to Device (or internal memory). Find the Download folder (sometimes called Downloads on Russian firmware).
- Through PC (if you connect your phone over USB): Connect your smartphone to your computer in File Transfer mode. In Windows Explorer, go along the path: This computer → [Name of your Xiaomi] → Internal Drive → Download.
On some models (such as the Xiaomi 13T), the Download folder can be hidden to see it.
- In the Files app, tap on three dots → Settings → Show hidden files.
- If the folder is not available at all, check your browser settings: it is possible that the save path has been manually changed (more on this below).

⚠️ Note: If you use a microSD, some applications (such as Telegram) can save files directly to it in a folder. /storage/[SD_CARD_ID]/Download. Check the storage settings in each application separately.
3. How to Change the Default Download Folder
If you don't have enough space in your internal memory or want to sort files according to your own rules, you can redirect the downloads to another folder, which depends on which application you download files from:
- 🌐 Xiaomi Browser: Open your browser, tap three points → Settings. Select additional → Download folder. Specify a new path (e.g, /storage/emulated/0/MyDownloads).
- 📱 Google Chrome: Open Chrome, tap three dots → Downloads. In the upper right corner, press the gear. → bootloader.
- 💬 Telegram: Open the Telegram settings → Data and memory. Select the folder to download and specify the new path.
Important: If you specify a folder on a memory card (microSD), make sure that:
- The card is formatted as internal memory (in the storage settings).
- The app has rights to record SD-Card (permission to manage all files).

4.Why are files not displayed in the Download Manager?
A common problem with Xiaomi users is that downloaded files “disappear” from the controller.
