The Xiaomi calendar is one of the key tools for scheduling things, but sometimes it starts to fail: it doesnβt open, doesnβt sync with Google Account, shows empty events or even crashes. The problem can be either MIUI software errors or device hardware limitations. In this article, weβll look at all the possible causes, from the banal lack of Internet to deep firmware failures, and give step-by-step instructions for each of them.
The Xiaomi calendar is closely integrated with the Mi Account ecosystem and Google services, which means that a failure in one component (such as account synchronization) can paralyze the entire app. We wonβt limit ourselves to standard tips like βreset your phoneβ but instead offer a diagnostic approach: how to identify the root of the problem and fix it without unnecessary action.
Importantly, if the calendar stopped working after the MIUI update, it's probably the version conflict that's to blame, and then rollback or manual patching will help, and that's what you'll find in the relevant section.
1. Check basic settings: Internet, date, accounts
Before digging deeper, make sure the problem isn't with the basics.More often than not, Xiaomi's calendar doesn't work because of:
- π Internet Disability β without a network, events from Google Calendar or Mi Account are not synchronized.
- π Incorrect date/time β if the phone shows the wrong time, events may βdisappearβ or duplicate.
- π€ Account issues β logging out of Google or Mi Account resets all synchronized data.
How to check:
- Open the Settings. β SIM-maps and mobile networks and make sure that mobile internet or Wi-Fi is active.Try downloading any web page.
- Go to Settings β Additional β Date and time. Activate the options Autodetermining Date and Time Zone Autodetermination.
- In the Settings β Accounts section, check that you are logged in to Google and Mi Account and calendar sync is enabled.
If you've had this manipulation, the calendar has been working, the problem was the settings. If not, move on.
2. sync errors with Google or Mi Account
About 60% of the calendar problems on Xiaomi are due to synchronization failures.
- π Events are not updated or duplicated.
- β The calendar shows an error "failed to synchronize".
- π± After the reboot, events disappear.
Causes and solutions:
| Problem. | How to fix it |
|---|---|
| Account Conflict (Google and Mi Accounts are connected at the same time) | Open Settings β Accounts. Select Google, click three dots β Delete your account. Reboot your phone and add your account again. |
| Google server error (rarely, but it happens) | Check the status of Google services on Google Apps Status. If there is a failure, wait for recovery. |
| Too many events (over 10,000 records) | Remove old events through the web version of Google Calendar (calendar.google.com) or export them to a file. |
Critical information: If the events disappear after deleting your Google account, donβt panic β they are saved on Google servers and will recover after re-authorization.
Check your internet connection
Make sure the date/time is correct.
Update Google Calendar App in Play Market
Reboot the phone.
Delete and add the account again-->
Failures in the calendar application
If the Xiaomi calendar doesnβt open, crash or freeze, the problem may be in the app itself.
- π Cache Clearing: Go to Settings β Annexes β Application management β Calendar β Storage and click Clear Cache.
- ποΈ Data Reset: In the same menu, select Clear Data (Warning: This will delete all local events!).
- π₯ Update: Open the Play Market β Find the Calendar" β refresh.
- π§ Reinstall: If the application is system-based, disable it (Disable in Settings) and install an alternative (e.g. Business Calendar).
If after cleaning the cache, the calendar still does not work, try rolling back the updates:
- Go to Settings β Apps β Calendar β Three points β Remove updates.
- Reboot the phone.

4.Conflicts after the MIUI update
MIUI updates often break the calendar because of:
- π Bugs in the new version (for example, in the MIUI 14 had a problem with displaying repetitive events).
- π Incomplete firmware installation (calendar files not updated).
- π Changes in the permissions policy (the app lost access to the storage).
Decisions:
- Update rollback: Go to Settings β About Phone β System Update. Click on three dots β Select Service Pack. Select the previous version of MIUI (if saved in the phone's memory).
- Manual patch installation: Download the full firmware package for your model from en.miui.com. Place the file in the root of the phone's memory (not in folders!). Go to Settings β About Phone β System Update β Three Points β Select the Service Pack.
π‘
If the calendar shows events in Chinese after the update, change the region of the phone: Settings β Additional β Language and Region β Region (select Russia or Europe).
Note: If the calendar doesnβt work after rollback, the system database may be damaged, in which case only a full reset will help (see section 6).
5. Problems with permissions and access to data
With MIUI 12, Xiaomi has tightened its permission controls, and the calendar may not work because of:
- π« Lack of access to storage (cannot save local events).
- π± Block background activity (app "falls asleep" and does not sync).
- π Restrictions for third-party calendars (e.g. Google Calendar cannot read contacts).
How to check permissions:
- Open Settings β Applications β Application Management β Calendar β Permissions.
- Turn on all switches: Warehouse, Contacts, Calendar.
- Go back and press the battery. β No restrictions.
- Activate Auto Start and Background Activity.
For Google Calendar, additionally:
- Go to Settings β Accounts β Google β Account Sync.
- Make sure that calendar synchronization is enabled.
π‘
If you still don't sync your calendar after you've turned on all the resolutions, try adding the event manually, if it's saved, it's a problem on your network or account, and if it's not, it's in your system files.
Hardware limitations and damage
It is rare, but it happens that the calendar does not work due to physical problems:
- πΎ Damaged phone memory β if the storage sectors where the calendar data lies are out of order.
- π Worn-out battery - with a low charge (<15%) The system can block background processes.
- π± Fall or impact β if several applications have stopped working after mechanical impact, damage to the board is possible.
How to diagnose:
- Memory Check: Install the A1 SD Bench app from the Play Market. Run a read/write test. If the speed is below 50MB/s or there are errors, the memory is damaged.
- Battery test: Enter the code ##4636##. Select Battery Information and check Charge Level and Status. If Unknown or Bad status, the battery needs to be replaced.
Note: If the hardware is a problem, software methods wonβt help. In this case, contact the service center. On Xiaomi Redmi Note 10/11 and POCO X3 models, eMMC memory wear is common, which leads to malfunctions in applications, including the calendar.
Extreme measures: dumping and flashing
If none of the above has worked, radical methods remain:
- βοΈ Resetting β deletes all data, but returns the phone to a factory state.
- π² Fastboot Firmware β Complete Reinstallation MIUI, requires a PC and an unlocked bootloader.
- π Install custom firmware β for example, LineageOS or Pixel Experience (for experienced users).
Resetting instructions:
- Make a backup of the data through Settings β Additional β Backup and Reset.
- Go to Settings β About the phone β Reset settings.
- Choose to erase all data and confirm.
- After the reboot, set your phone up as new and check the calendar.
If the reset doesnβt work, try flashing through the Mi Flash Tool:
- Download Fastboot firmware for your model from the official website.
- Unpack the archive in a folder on your PC.
- Connect your phone in Fastboot mode (clip Volume Down + Power when the phone is off).
- Launch the Mi Flash Tool, select the firmware folder and press Flash.
β οΈ Warning: Fastboot flashing deletes all data, including photos and messages. If you don't have a backup, it won't be possible to recover the information.
