Xiaomiβs robot vacuum cleaners have long been popular for their combination of price, functionality and integration into the Mi Home ecosystem. However, many users are faced with one unpleasant feature: the standard firmware of most models (even those sold in Russia) contains Chinese or English voiceovers, which creates discomfort, especially when the robot reports problems in an incomprehensible language or pronounces the names of rooms with an accent.
The good news is that you can install Russian voiceovers yourself, both through Xiaomiβs official tools and third-party solutions. In this article, weβll look at all the current ways, including updating with Mi Home, manual firmware, and using alternative voice packets. Compatibility with Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Pro, Dreame D9, Viomi V3 and other popular devices.
Important: the procedure differs depending on the firmware version and the region of the robot purchase. For example, devices purchased in China (CN version) require additional manipulation, whereas European models (EU) often support Russian out of the box.

1. Checking the current firmware and compatibility
Before you download Russian voiceover, make sure your robot vacuum cleaner model supports it. Not all Xiaomi devices allow you to change the voice language - it depends on the hardware platform and the firmware version.
To check the current settings:
- Open the Mi Home app (or Dreamehome for Dreame devices).
- Select your robot vacuum cleaner from the list of devices.
- Go to Settings. β About the device.
- Find the Model, Firmware Version and Region fields.
Critical parameters:
- πΉ Model: Rockrobo-based devices (e.g. Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop P) support voice change via Mi Home. D10 Plus) require a separate application.
- πΉ Region: If specified CN (China, you'll need to change the server or the firmware. EU/RU often enough.

If your firmware is outdated, first update it through Mi Home:
- Go to Settings β Update firmware.

2.Official method: changing the language through Mi Home
The easiest method is to update the language through the Mi Home app.It works for most models purchased in Russia or Europe (EU/RU region), but may not be available for Chinese versions (CN).
Step-by-step:
- Open Mi Home and select your robot vacuum cleaner.
- Go to Settings β Device settings β Voice language.
- In the list of available languages, find Russian (or Russian).
- Confirm the choice and wait for the device to restart (it will take 1-2 minutes).
If there is no Russian language on the list:

3. Alternative voice packets: where to download and how to install
If the official way didn't work, you can download third-party voice packets, which are created by enthusiasts and often support more features than standard voice acting, for example, some packets add charge level notifications, cleaning status, or even jokes.
Where to look for voice packets:
- π Forums 4PDA: In models-specific topics (e.g. Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Pro), look for files with the.pkg or.zip extension.
- π¦ GitHub: Repositories like com.xiaomi.miio contain unofficial firmware with Russian.
- π¬ Telegram chats: channels of type @xiaomirobot or @dreamerobot Fresh packets are often shared.
If the voice has not changed since the reboot:
- π Make sure the file is called sound.pkg (without any extra characters).
- π§ Try another package β some models require specific versions.

4 Manual update of firmware with Russian language
Chinese models (CN) or older devices may require complete Russian-enabled flashing, a more complex method, but it yields 100% results if done correctly.
What you need:

- π USB-cable (preferably original, with data transmission support).
- π Firmware with Russian language (for example, mirobot_vacuum_global_ru.fw).

If the voice sounds unclear or disturbed:

How to change the names of rooms in Russian:

7. Frequent problems and their solutions
