It is important to understand that the process depends on the firmware version and the region of purchase of the device. For example, models for the European market (Roborock S6 EU) already have Russian in the settings, and the gray versions from China require manual firmware, we will consider options for both cases, and also give recommendations on safety – so as not to turn a vacuum cleaner into a brick.

1. Check the current firmware version and region
Before you start Russification, you need to understand what firmware is installed on your Roborock S6, which determines the method you choose.
- Open the Mi Home or Roborock app (depending on which one you use).
Key points that should be paid attention to:
- 📌 If there is a model in the name CN (for example, roborock.vacuum.s6.cn) — It is a Chinese language and there is no Russian language in it.
- 🌍 If a region is specified EU, RU Or Global – most likely, Russian is already in the settings, but it needs to be activated.
- ⚙️ The firmware version below 3.5.8 may not support multilinguality even after the upgrade.
If your model is Chinese, but the firmware is relatively new (for example, 3.6.9 and above), you can try to update through the official application. For older versions or “gray” devices, you will need manual firmware – we will talk about this in the following sections.
2. Method 1: Update through the official application (the most secure)
If you're Roborock. S6 supportive OTA-This method is the easiest and safest, and is suitable for most devices purchased from official Xiaomi stores or authorized sellers.
Step instructions:
- Make sure the vacuum cleaner is connected to Wi-Fi and is at least 50% charged.
What to do if the update is not available?
- 🔄 Try changing the region in the Mi Home app to Russia or Europe (in your account settings).
- 📶 Make sure the vacuum cleaner is connected to a 2.4 GHz network (not 5 GHz!).

Method 2: Manual firmware update via USB (for power users)
If the official update didn’t work or your Roborock S6 model is too old, you can try to flash Russian firmware manually, which takes more time and care, but gives you a guaranteed result.

- Start the firmware and wait until it is completed (usually 5-15 minutes).
- Once completed, the vacuum cleaner will restart, disconnect it from the USB and check for Russian.
If you don’t have a Russian language, even after changing the region, try:
- 🔄 log out and re-enter (sometimes cache reset helps).
- 📱 Install an alternative Roborock app (it is often better optimized for multilingualism).
- 🌐 Manually update the firmware through Settings → Update (as in Method 1).
