Method 2: Automatic update via OTA (over the air)
The easiest and safest method is to update the system by air, and the system itself finds and installs updates, but sometimes you need to manually run the check.
Instructions:
- Open Settings → About the phone → System update.
- Click on the three dots in the top right corner and select Update Package (if the update is already downloaded but not installed).
- If you find an update, click Download and wait until it is completed (can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour depending on internet speed).
- After downloading, press Reboot and Update. The device will restart and install the firmware automatically.
What to do if OTA-update doesn't come?

Method 2: Manual update via Recovery (for power users)
If OTA doesn’t work or you want to install a specific version of MIUI, you can use stock Recovery, which is suitable for official firmware and does not require unlocking the bootloader.
Step-by-step:
- Download the necessary firmware for Mi Note 10 (tucana) from the official website: 🌍 Global version 🇪🇺 European version (EEA) 🇨🇳 Chinese version (requires a Mi Account)
The file must have a.zip extension and a name of the type. miui_TUCANAGlobal_V14.0.5.0.SFJMIXM_....
Transfer the downloaded file to the root directory of internal memory (not to folders!).

Confirm the installation and wait for the completion (it will take 5-15 minutes).

⚠️ Note: Do not use this method to install firmware from third-party developers (e.g. xiaomi.eu or LineageOS) – these require TWRP And you've got an unlocked bootloader. Don't try to flash a lowered version either. MIUI This will cause an Error 7 error.

4. Method 3: Complete Fastboot Firmware (for Advanced)

What you need:

- 📦 Fastboot Firmware Archive (extension.tgz or.zip).
- 🛠️ The Mi Flash Tool (you can download it here).
Instructions:
- Unpack the archive with firmware in a folder without Cyrillic characters (for example, C:\MiNote10_Fastboot).
- Install the Mi Flash Tool and run on behalf of the administrator.
- Turn off your smartphone and press Power + Volume down to enter Fastboot mode (a hare in a hat-hushanka will appear).
- Connect your phone to your PC. In the Mi Flash Tool, press Refresh, and the COMX device should appear.
- In the Select field, specify the path to the folder with unpacked firmware.
- Select firmware mode: Clean All – complete clean (remove all data!), Clean All and Lock – clean + lock the bootloader (to return to the stock firmware), Save User Data – save user data (does not always work correctly).

⚠️ Note: If the Mi Flash Tool gives an anti-rollback error, it means that you are trying to install the firmware with an older version of the recoiling mechanism. EDL-Mode (requires an authorized Xiaomi account).

Fastboot is the only way to bring the brick back to life, but requires an unlocked bootloader.If the bootloader is locked, unlock it first through the Mi Unlock Tool (the process takes up to 720 hours to wait!).

If your model doesn’t match the firmware code (for example, you’re trying to flash through the tucana_global Mi Note 10 Pro with code tucana_pro), update will result in an error or a blink. Always check the code of the device and firmware!
6. Solving Common Update Errors
Even if you follow the instructions, you can get into trouble, and let's look at the most common problems and their solutions.
Error 1: “Can’t check the update” in Settings → System Update.

7.How to roll back an update if the new version of MIUI is unstable

- Swipe the device through the Mi Flash Tool in Clean All mode.
⚠️ Note: A rollback to a version older than the one installed out of the box can lead to a constant blink due to hardware limitations. For example, if your Mi Note 10 originally came with Android 10, Android 9 firmware will make it inoperable.
