In this article, we will analyze all the current ways of updating, including hidden functions and solutions to typical errors.
Itβs important to understand that the firmware for Xiaomi Basic 2 is spread in waves β even if you see a new version announced on the forums, it may not be available for your region yet. In addition, some updates require preliminary preparation: a charged case, a stable Internet connection and the right sequence of actions. We tested all methods on firmware up to 1.7.0.3 (currently June 2026) and highlighted the key nuances.
1. Check the current version of the firmware
Before you update your headphones, make sure the new version is actually available.
- Open the Mi Fit app (version no lower than 5.6.0).
- Go to Profile β My Devices β Xiaomi Basic 2.
- Click on the gear icon (βοΈ) top-right.
- Select the item Device Information.
In the firmware version block, you will see the current number (e.g. 1.4.0.8). Compare it to the latest versions from official sources:

- Wait until the download is complete (it can take up to 10 minutes) and follow the hints on the screen.
It takes about 5-7 minutes to update, and the headphones automatically reboot 2-3 times, which is normal, and don't remove them from the case, and don't close the app.

3. Manual update via firmware files
If the automatic method doesn't work, you can manually install the firmware.

Update via PC (alternative method)
For power users, there is a way to flash headphones through a computer using the Mi Flash Tool, a risky method that can lead to a device breaking down if something goes wrong.

Tools required:

- π Firmware in.tgz format (for example, basic2_global_images_V1.7.0.3.tgz).
Step-by-step:
- Unpack the archive with firmware in a folder without Cyrillic characters (for example, C:\basic2_firmware).
- Open the Mi Flash Tool on behalf of the administrator.
- Click Select and point the way to the firmware folder.
- Connect the case with headphones to the PC in the off state (press the button on the case for 10 seconds).
- In the utility, press Refresh β the COMX device should appear.
- Select Clean All mode and press Flash.

5. Solving errors in the update
Even if you follow the instructions, you can get into trouble, and let's look at the most common problems and their solutions.
