Xiaomi floor scales are no longer a simple weight measurement device β modern models analyze body composition, monitor changes and sync with the smartphone. But many users face problems already at the connection stage: the device does not find the scales, data is not saved, or the application gives an error. In this article, we will analyze all the ways of synchronization (through Mi Fit, Zepp Life and third-party applications), consider common errors and give a checklist for successful connection.
Xiaomi scales work only in pairs with a smartphone. Without synchronization, you will see only raw weight numbers on the screen, without analyzing muscle mass, water in the body or bone tissue. The connection process may vary depending on the model: for example, Mi Body Composition Scale 2 requires mandatory registration in Mi Account, and Xiaomi Smart Scale 2 supports guest mode. We have compiled current instructions for all popular models in 2020-2026.
Important: if you have previously used a different brand of scales (for example, Huawei or Withings), before connecting Xiaomi, remove old devices from the application - the profile conflict can block synchronization. Also check that your smartphone supports Bluetooth 4.0 or newer (this is a prerequisite for working with weights).
1.What Xiaomi scales support phone connection
Not all Xiaomi floor scales can sync with a smartphone, here is the current list of models with support for smart functions:
- πΉ Xiaomi Mi Body Composition Scale 2 is a flagship model with an analysis of 13 body parameters (muscle mass, viscosity fat, metabolic age, etc.). Works through Mi Fit or Zepp Life.
- πΉ Xiaomi Smart Scale 2 - simplified version with basic analysis of body composition (weight, BMI, fat mass). Supports guest mode without registration.
- πΉ Xiaomi Mi Scale (first version) is an outdated model, but is still sold in some regions.
- πΉ Xiaomi Mi Body Fat Scale - budget option with measurement of fat mass and water in the body.
Models without synchronization support (for example, Xiaomi Mijia mechanical scales or some of the other models). OEM-Other brands will not be able to transmit data to your phone, and you can check the connection by the label on the box: look for Bluetooth icons or the words "Smart Scale".
π‘
If you buy scales with your hands, check them for authenticity through the official Mi Home app. counterfeits often don't support synchronization or give out incorrect data.
Preparation for connection: what to do before synchronization
Before you start connecting, follow the mandatory steps:
- Download Mi Fit (for older models) or Zepp Life (for newer ones) from the App Store/Google Play. Zepp Life is recommended for Mi Body Composition Scale 2 - there's more detailed analytics.
- Register an account. Most models require a Mi Account (you can create it through an app or on account.xiaomi.com), except for Smart Scale 2 in guest mode.
- Turn on Bluetooth and geolocation. Libras are connected via BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy), and geolocation is needed to accurately determine the region (affects the formulas for calculating body composition).
- Update the firmware of the scales. If the device has been used before, check the relevance of the software in the application settings.
Also make sure your smartphone meets the minimum requirements:
| Parameter | Mi Fit | Zepp Life |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Android 5.0+ or iOS 10.0+ | Android 6.0+ or iOS 12.0+ |
| Bluetooth | 4.0 and higher | 4.2 and above |
| Free seat | 100MB | 150 MB |
| Additionally. | Authorization for notification | Access to geolocation |
β οΈ Note: If you are using an iPhone with iOS 17+, Before you connect the scales, temporarily turn off the tracking alert in your Bluetooth settings. It can block the connection to Xiaomi devices.
3. Step-by-step instructions: how to connect Xiaomi scales to the phone
Consider a universal connection algorithm for the Mi Body Composition Scale 2. For other models, the steps may differ slightly (explanations are given in spoilers).
βοΈ Connecting Xiaomi scales
Step 1. Include weights
Put the scales on a flat, hard surface (not on the carpet!) Press the on button (usually hidden under the display or on the side). The screen should show a "0.0" or flashing Bluetooth icon. If the scales do not respond:
- π Check the batteries (only use them) AAA energy-intensiveness β₯1,000 mAh).
- π Reset the scales: Remove the batteries for 10 seconds, then insert back.
- π± Make sure there are no other Bluetooth enabled devices nearby (there may be a signal conflict).
Step 2: Adding a device to the appendix
Open Zepp Life (or Mi Fit) and do:
- Click on the + icon (add device) in the upper right corner.
- Select the Libra category.
- Find your model in the list (for example, Mi Body Composition Scale 2).
- Click "Connect" and wait until the app finds the scales.
Critical detail: if the scales are not in place for 2 minutes, restart the search and repeat step 1 (on).
Step 3: Set up a profile
After successful connection, the application will offer:
- π€ Enter personal data: height, age, gender (this is necessary for the correct calculation of BMI and body composition).
- βοΈ Select units of measurement: pounds or pounds.
- π Set goals: losing weight, gaining weight or maintaining shape.
β οΈ Attention: If you enter the wrong height or age, your fat mass and muscle tone will be distorted, for example, if you undergrowth, the scales will show an overweight percentage of fat.

4. Common mistakes and their solutions
Even with the right connection, Xiaomi scales can work incorrectly.-5 problems and ways of eliminating them:
| Mistake. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Libras not included | Batteries discharged or contacts oxidized | Replace the batteries with new ones, like Duracell, and wipe the contacts with alcohol. |
| App doesn't find scales | Bluetooth conflict or outdated firmware | Turn off Bluetooth on other devices. Update the scale software through Settings β Update. |
| Data not stored | No internet or synchronization failure | Check the network connection. Restart the application. |
| Weight indications unstable | Uneven surface or dirty sensors | Put the scales on the tile. Rub the sensors with a wet napkin. |
| Error "Device not supported" | Incompatibility of the model with the application | Install the old version of Mi Fit (e.g. 4.6.0) or use Zepp Life. |
If the scales are connected but show clearly incorrect data (for example, a weight of 120 kg at your 70 kg), the problem may be:
- 𧲠External interference: other electronics (microwave, router) are nearby).
- π©Ί Incorrect profile settings: Incorrect height or gender is indicated.
- π§ Damaged sensors: if the scales fell or were exposed to moisture.
π‘
To check the accuracy of the scales, weigh an object with a known mass (for example, a bottle of water 1 liter = 1 kg). If the difference is greater than 100 g, calibration is required (contact the service).
5. How to reconnect the scales to another phone
If you have changed your smartphone or want to use scales with multiple devices, reset the connection:
- On your old phone, open Zepp Life β Profile β My devices.
- Select the scales and click "Delete the device".
- Press and hold the switch on button for 10 seconds until the indicator flashes.
- On the new phone, repeat the connection process (see Step 3).
β οΈ Note: When the connection is reset, all stored data on the scales will be deleted. The measurement history will only remain in the Mi Account cloud (if synchronized).
For Xiaomi Smart Scale 2, there is no guest reset required β just connect to them from a new phone via Add Device.
6. Alternative ways of connecting (without official applications)
If Mi Fit or Zepp Life doesnβt work (for example, due to regional restrictions), you can use the app side:
- π± Google Fit: Supports importing data from Mi Fit (you need to enable synchronization in settings).
- π Apple Health: Automatically Receives Data from Zepp Life (Allow Access in iPhone Settings).
- π Mi Home: Suitable for older weight models (e.g. Mi Scale 1).
- π§ Notify & Fitness (for Android): Allows you to customize weighing notifications.
To connect via Google Fit:
- Open Mi Fit β Profile β Settings β Data Synchronization.
- Select Google Fit and log in.
- In Google Fit, the data will appear in the βWeightβ section.
π‘
The side of the application may not support body composition analysis, only basic indicators (weight, BMI).
7.How to update Xiaomi's weight firmware
The firmware update fixes synchronization errors and adds new features (e.g. Zepp Life support for older models) to update the software:
- Open Zepp Life or Mi Fit.
- Go to Profile β My devices β [Your scales] β Settings.
- Click on "Firmware Update" (if available).
- Confirm the download and wait until the completion (the scales should be included next to the smartphone).
If the update is hanging:
- π Reset the scales (remove the batteries for 10 seconds).
- πΆ Check the stability of the Internet connection (better use Wi-Fi).
- π± Update the Zepp app itself Life/Mi Fit to the latest version.
