The Xiaomi Mi Band 6 fitness bracelet remains one of the most popular activity-tracking gadgets, despite the release of new models, with its main advantages being an accurate pulsemeter, 30 training modes and up to 14 days of autonomy, but before first using it, you need to connect the device correctly to your smartphone, otherwise some of the features will not be available.
Many users experience sync problems: the bracelet is not on the list of devices, the application gives an error, or the data is not updated. In this article, we will discuss all the ways of connecting (via Mi Fitness and Zepp Life), as well as give tips on how to avoid typical errors. If you already have experience with the Mi Band 5 or older versions, donβt miss the section on the key differences in the configuration of the sixth model.
What devices does the Mi Band 6 support?
Before connecting, check your smartphone's compatibility with the bracelet. Mi Band 6 works with:
- π± Android 6.0 and higher (with Bluetooth 4.2 or later)
- π iOS 10.0 and higher (iPhone) 5s and younger are not supported)
- π Official applications: Mi Fitness (recommended) or Zepp Life (alternative)
Important: Some custom firmware (e.g. MIUI Global older than 12.5) may have problems syncing. If your phone is released before 2016, check the Bluetooth version in settings (Settings β About Phone β Bluetooth version).
Also, the bracelet is compatible with Android tablets, but for full work you will need to work. SIM-Map or permanent Wi-Fi connection (due to background data synchronization) On iPad, app installation is possible but not officially supported - there may be no notifications.
Preparation of the bracelet for the first connection
Before synchronization, follow several mandatory steps:
- Charge the bracelet to 100%. Even if the indicator shows partial charge, the discharged battery can interrupt the connection process. Use the original cable (included) - third-party charging can damage the contacts.
- Install the app: π€ For Android: Mi Fitness on Google Play π For iOS: Mi Fitness in the App Store

Differences between Mi Band 6 connectivity and previous models
If you are upgrading from Mi Band 5 or older, please note these changes:
- π Mi Band 6 is officially supported only in Mi Fitness (previously used Mi Fit, which is now obsolete).
- π Extended statistics: Metrics added SpO2 (oxygen saturation and stress levels that require separate calibration.
- π Improved protection: Now, when you first connect, you must link to your Xiaomi account (you could use it without registering before).
Also in the sixth model, support for 50 styles of dials (vs. 30 in the Mi Band 5), but their installation is possible only through the application β downloading third-party themes is now blocked due to problems with viruses in previous versions.
How to connect Mi Band 6 to multiple phones
Officially, the bracelet is tied to one Xiaomi account, but there is a workaround for syncing with two smartphones (for example, a work and a personal one):
- On the first phone, untie the bracelet to Profile β Mi Band 6 β Delete the device (data will be saved in the account).
- On the second phone, log in to the same Xiaomi account and reconnect the bracelet.
- Repeat step 1 on the second phone to return the binding to the first.
β οΈ Note: This way, notifications will be duplicated on both phones, and step and sleep data may conflict.
An alternative is to create a family account in Mi Fitness and give access to a second user, but in this case, some of the functions (for example, setting up alarm clocks) will be limited.
