Xiaomi Mi Band 6
iPhone
all stages of connection
Conflict between the Apple and Xiaomi ecosystems is often a source of error, such as iOS restrictions on Bluetooth LE can block stable connectivity, and bracelet firmware updates sometimes break compatibility with iPhones. We tested all current versions of apps (Mi Fitness and Zepp Life) on iOS 17.4 and put together working solutions for typical problems.
If you've just unpacked the Mi Band 6 and want to set it up quickly, go straight to the step-by-step instructions. If the bracelet is already connected but not working properly, look for the troubleshooting section, which sorts out bugs like "Device Can't Be Found" or "99 percent Synced."
Important: Xiaomi has officially moved all bracelets to the Zepp Life app since 2023, but Mi Fitness still supports the Mi Band 6 (albeit with limited functionality).
Step-by-step: how to connect Mi Band 6 to iPhone
Before you start, make sure your iPhone meets the minimum requirements:
- π± iOS version: 12.0 or later (15.0 recommended)+ steady-work).
- π Bluetooth: enabled and in search mode (not connected to other devices).
- πΆ Internet: stable Wi-Fi or mobile network connection (needed to download the bracelet firmware).
- π Bracelet charge: at least 20% (at low charge synchronization may be interrupted).
If you are ready, follow the algorithm:
- Download Zepp Life (recommended) or Mi Fitness from the App Store. Zepp Life has a more modern interface and is better optimized for iOS, but Mi Fitness retains support for older features (e.g. music management). π‘If you already have an old Mi Fit app installed, uninstall it β itβs not compatible with Mi Band 6 and will conflict with newer versions.
- Sign up for an account. When you first start up, the app will suggest you create a Xiaomi account or log in via Google/Apple ID. Choose a convenient way. Importantly, if you've used an Android bracelet before, use the same account so that the data doesn't get dumped.
- Add the device. In the main menu of the app, click Profile β Add the device (in Zepp Life) or + β Mi Smart Band 6 (in Mi Fitness). The bracelet should flash white light - this means that it is ready to pair.
- Confirm the connection. The iPhone will have a Bluetooth connection request. Allow access. Then the bracelet will have a vibration and a confirmation code β compare it to the code in the app and click Confirm.
- Update the firmware. Once paired, the app will suggest updating the bracelet software. Don't refuse! Outdated firmware can cause sync errors with iOS. It will take 5-10 minutes to do so - don't interrupt it or leave the app. What happens if you interrupt the update?Aborted firmware update can cause the bracelet to freeze, in which case you will need to reset it to factory settings (press the touch button for 15 seconds) and reconnect.
Once successfully connected, the bracelet automatically synchronizes time, steps and sleep data, but additional adjustments will be required to work fully.

Zepp Life vs Mi Fitness: Which App Is Best for iPhone?
Xiaomi will gradually migrate all wearable devices to the Zepp Life platform (formerly known as Amazfit) from 2021, but Mi Fitness (the successor to Mi Fit) still supports the Mi Band 6, but with stripped-down features.
| Function | Zepp Life | Mi Fitness |
|---|---|---|
| Synchronization of data | β Quick, no delays. | β οΈ Sometimes it's 99% |
| Notifications (SMS, calls) | β Full support (including messengers) | β Basic notifications only |
| Setting up dials | β 100+ Options, including animated | β Limited choice (~20 pcs.) |
| Sleep monitoring | β Detailed statistics (phases of sleep, naps) | β Basic statistics (without phases) |
| Integration with HealthKit | β Automatic synchronization of steps and calories | β Only manually. |
The conclusion: Zepp Life is definitely preferable to iPhone β itβs more stable with iOS and offers more features. However, if youβre critically interested in compatibility with old Mi Fit data, you can use Mi Fitness temporarily, but be prepared for bugs.
Setting up notifications: why don't they come to the bracelet?
One of the most common problems with connecting the Mi Band 6 to an iPhone is that there are no notifications for calls and messages.
- π΅ iOS restrictions: by default, iOS blocks the background work of applications, including synchronizing notifications with the bracelet.
- π Application settings: Zepp Life or Mi Fitness may be disabled from notifications.
- π± System Permissions: iOS requires a separate permission to display notifications for each application (e.g. WhatsApp, Telegram, and other apps).
To set up notifications correctly, follow the following steps:
- Allow notifications in iOS. Go to iPhone Settings β Notifications β Zepp Life/Mi Fitness and enable options: π Allow notices π Badges on app badges π Background data transmission
Set up the bracelet app.
In Zepp Life:
- Open Profile. β Mi Band 6 β Notifications.
- Turn on the Call Notification and Notifications from the apps switch.
- Select applications that must be duplicated on the bracelet (e.g. Messages, Viber, Gmail).
In Mi Fitness, the path is a little different: Device β Notification settings β Notification management.
Check the system constraints.
Go to iPhone Settings β Main β Background Software Update and make sure Zepp Life/Mi Fitness is back in the background. Also check Settings β Privacy β Geolocation Services β the bracelet app needs access to geodata to work properly.
π‘
If notifications still don't come, reboot your iPhone and bracelet, and then re-sync them through the app. 80% of the time, that solves the problem.
β οΈ Note: On jailbreak iPhones, notifications on Mi Band 6 may not work smoothly due to conflicts with tweaks that change Bluetooth behavior.
Problem Solving: Bracelet not plugged in or synchronization hangs
Even with the right setup, the Mi Band 6 can refuse to connect to the iPhone.
1.The app doesn't see the bracelet.
- π Reboot Bluetooth. Turn off and turn on Bluetooth again on your iPhone, then restart the app.
- π± Reset your network settings. Go to your iPhone settings. β Mainstream β Transfer or discharge β Reset β Reset your network settings. Warning: this will delete all saved Wi-Fi passwords!
- π If the charge is below 15%, the Mi Band 6 may not appear on the list of available devices.
- π Update the bracelet firmware manually. Connect the bracelet to your Android device (if possible), update the software, then try connecting to your iPhone again.
2. synchronization is suspended by 0% or 99%
This problem often arises from conflict with the background processes of iOS.
- βοΈ Turn off battery optimization for the app. Go to iPhone Settings β Battery. β Battery status β Zepp Life/Mi Fitness and disable the option Charging Optimization.
- π΅ Turn on the plane mode for 10 seconds, which will reset the network settings of the iPhone and can "wake up" the hung sync.
- π Remove and re-add the bracelet. In the app, click Remove the device, then repeat the connection process from scratch.
3. The bracelet is connected, but the data is not updated
If your steps, pulse, or sleep are not synchronized:
- π Forced update the data. In the app, go to the statistics section and pull the screen down (like when you update your social media feed).
- π± Check HealthKit permissions. If you're using Zepp Life, make sure that in your iPhone Settings β Confidentiality β Health β Annexes β Zepp Life is now available for recordings.
- β³ Wait 1-2 hours. Sometimes data is synced with a delay due to iOS restrictions on background work.
β οΈ Note: If after the iOS update, the bracelet stopped connecting, check if the permissions for the application have been reset in Settings β Confidentiality β Bluetooth. After major system upgrades, Apple sometimes resets access to peripherals.
Optimizing work: how to extend battery life and improve data accuracy
The Mi Band 6, when set up correctly, can last up to 14 days on a single charge, but by default many features (like a constant pulse or notifications) drain the battery quickly.
- π Set up pulse monitoring. In Zepp Life β Profile β Mi Band 6 β Monitor your heart rate, choose Intelligent Mode (measuring your pulse every 30 minutes) instead of Constant.
- π΅ Turn off unnecessary notifications. Leave only critical (calls, SMS, Messengers, and notifications from games or news apps turn off.
- π Use dark dials. AMOLED-The Mi Band 6 screen uses less energy when displaying dark colors. Select a black-backed dial in Zepp Life β Dials.
- π Update your firmware. Newer versions often optimize your power consumption. Check the updates once a month.
To improve the accuracy of the data:
- π Calibrate the pedometer. If the bracelet underestimates or overstates the number of steps, manually specify the length of the step in Profile β Personal information β Length of step.
- π€ Wear the bracelet correctly. To accurately measure your heart rate and sleep, wear the Mi Band 6 2-3 fingers above your wrist (not too tight, but not loosely).
- π If automatic sync is unstable, open the Zepp Life app 1-2 times a day to force you to update your statistics.
π‘
If the bracelet starts to discharge quickly for no apparent reason, reset it to factory settings (press the touch button for 15 seconds) and reconnect to the iPhone. 90% of the time, this solves the problem with increased power consumption.
Reset and reconnect: what to do if the bracelet "hangs"
If the Mi Band 6 has stopped responding to touch, is not synchronized or shows incorrect data, a complete reset may be required.
- Reset the bracelet to factory settings. Press the touch button on the bracelet for 10 to 15 seconds until you feel the vibration and see the Mi logo on the screen, which will bring all settings back to the out-of-the-box state.
- Remove the bracelet from the app. In Zepp Life or Mi Fitness, go to Profile β Mi Band 6 β Delete the device. Confirm the action.
- Reinstall the app. Remove Zepp Life/Mi Fitness from your iPhone, restart your phone, then install the app again from the App Store.
- Reconnect the bracelet. Follow the step-by-step instructions from the start. This time, look at iOS permissions (especially access to notifications and geolocation).
If the bracelet does not work after resetting:
- π Check the charger.Use the original Xiaomi cable - the unoriginal may not fully charge the battery, leading to crashes.
- π± Update iOS. An outdated version of the system may conflict with the bracelet. Check the updates in Settings β Mainstream β Update of the PO.
- π§ Contact support. If nothing helps, contact Xiaomi Support with the bracelet model, iOS version and a description of the problem.
β οΈ Warning: After resetting, all data on the bracelet (steps, sleep, workouts) will be deleted. If it is not synchronized with the application, it will not be possible to restore it.
