Xiaomi scooters are some of the most popular vehicles in the city, but many owners are faced with the problem of how to turn on the flashlight correctly, especially if it suddenly stopped working or behaves unstable. Unlike smartphones, where the flashlight is activated at a single click, on scooters, the algorithm depends on the model, the version of the firmware and even how to connect to the mobile application.
In this article, we will discuss all possible methods for turning on the front (and rear) light on Xiaomi M365, Pro 2, 4 Pro, Essential and others – from standard holding the power button to resetting through Mi Home.
Important: Some models (such as the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 3 Lite) have automatic headlights on when driving in the dark — this feature can be adjusted or turned off. If your scooter is not equipped with a physical flashlight button, do not be upset: most likely, control is implemented through software.
1. Standard method: flashlight button
Most Xiaomi scooters come with a physical headlight control button, which is usually paired with a power button or located separately on the steering wheel.

- 📱 Firmware compatibility (on some custom versions of the software, the button is reassigned).

2. Manage flashlight through the Mi Home app
The Mi Home mobile app (or Xiaomi Home for newer versions) allows you to control the headlight remotely, as well as adjust its behavior.
- Open Mi Home and connect to the scooter (it should be on and be nearby).
- Go to the Device → Scooter settings → Lighting.
- Activate the slider "Enable flashlight" or select the mode: 🌓 "Automatic – the headlight lights up in low light. 🔦 "Always on – Constant operation (discharges the battery faster). 🚫 "Switched off” – the flashlight is inactive.
If the app does not have a Lighting option, upgrade the Mi Home to the latest version or check the compatibility of the scooter model. For example, on the Xiaomi M365 first releases (2017-2018), this feature may not be available.

On scooters Xiaomi 4 Pro and newer flashlight can be blocked when activated mode "Eco" - in this case, switch to the mode "Sport" or "Standard".
4.Resetting the scooter settings to restore the flashlight
If the flashlight stopped working after a firmware update or failure, hard reset will help, which will return all parameters to factory settings, including lighting settings.
Instructions:
- Turn off the scooter (hold the power button for 5 seconds).
- Press the power button and the headlight button (if it is separate) at the same time.
- Hold for 10-15 seconds until the battery light flashes.
- Release the buttons and the scooter will reboot.
After discharge:
