Xiaomi Smart Band 7
Russification of device
CN
Mi Fitness
While Xiaomi is positioning its devices as global, some bracelets are sold with firmware that does not support Russian out of the box, not only for the Smart Band 7, but also for other models of the line. The main difficulty is that there is no direct option to change the language in the device menu. However, there is a solution, and we will explain in detail how to implement it without the risk of bricking the gadget.
If you've tried to Russify the wristband before and you've encountered bugs like "unknown firmware" or sync failures, don't rush to reset the device. 90% of the time, the problem is solved by the correct sequence of actions, which we described below. And for CN-version owners, a separate section has been prepared with instructions to bypass regional restrictions.
β οΈ Warning: Before starting Russification, make sure that your Smart Band 7 firmware version is Russian-compatible. Bandlets with firmware below 1.17.0.14 may require prior updates via Mi Fitness.
1.Official method: changing the language through the Mi Fitness app
The most reliable and recommended Xiaomi method is Russification through a proprietary application, which is suitable for most global versions of the bracelet (Global), but may not work on the CN- versions without prior manipulation.
Step-by-step:
- Install the Mi Fitness app (formerly Mi Fit) on your Android or iOS smartphone. Download only from official stores: Google Play or App Store.
- Sign up or sign in to your Xiaomi account (required!) without linking to your account, the language change will not be available.
- Connect the bracelet to the application via Bluetooth. To do this, go to Profile β Add the device and follow the instructions on the screen.
- After successful synchronization, go to the bracelet menu: Device Profile β Settings β Language.
- In the list of available languages, select "Russian" and confirm the choice. The bracelet will automatically reboot.
β οΈ Warning: If there is no Russian in the list of languages, it means that your firmware does not support localization, in which case, go to alternative methods or update the firmware manually.

In some cases, after changing the language, you may have problems with the display of characters (for example, instead of letters, characters or squares), this is due to the caching of fonts in firmware.
- Disable the bracelet from the application (Device Profile β Disable).
- Reset the bracelet (press the touch button for 10 seconds).
- Reconnect the device. The language should be displayed correctly.
2 Alternative Russification Methods for CN- Versions
CN- versions of Xiaomi Smart Band 7 often come with firmware locked to change region. In such cases, the official method will not work, and one of the workarounds will be required.
Method 1: Changing the region of the Xiaomi account
This method is suitable if your account is linked to China (Mainland China).
- Open the Mi Fitness app and go to Profile β Account Settings.
- Find the Region (or Country/Region) and change it to βRussiaβ or βGlobalβ.
- Save the changes and restart the application.
- Connect the bracelet again - Russian should appear in the language settings.
β οΈ Warning: After a region change, some features (such as Mi Pay) may become unavailable, and there is a risk of temporary account locking if you change region frequently.
Method 2: Manual firmware update via Mi Band Tool
If the change of region did not help, you can try to flash the bracelet to third-party software.
- π± Smartphone on Android (for iOS method is not suitable).
- π The Mi Band Tool (you can download it on the official website).
- π Russian-supported firmware file (see the 4PDA or XDA Developers forums).

πΉ Important: Firmware through third-party utilities can lead to loss of warranty and unstable bracelet performance. Use this method only if other methods have not worked.

3. Problems after Russification and their solutions
Even after a successful language change, users often encounter bugs, and let's look at the most common ones and how to fix them.
| Problem. | Possible cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Instead of Russian - hieroglyphs or Krakozabra | Damaged font cache or incomplete firmware | Reset the bracelet to factory settings (Settings β Reset) and repeat Russification |
| The bracelet does not sync with the application after changing the language | The conflict of firmware versions and Mi Fitness | Update the app to the latest version or reinstall it |
| Incorrect time/date mapping | Failure to sync with the phone | Manually update the time in the bracelet settings or reconnect it to the phone |
| No notifications in Russian | Firmware Limitations for CN- Versions | Install alternative software (e.g. Notify & Fitness for Mi Band) |
If the bracelet begins to discharge rapidly after Russification, it may be due to the background operation of the Bluetooth module.
- π Reset the bracelet (click the button for 10 seconds).
- π΅ Disable unnecessary notifications in Mi Fitness (Notifications β Notification Management).
- π Check the battery status in the bracelet menu (Settings β Battery).
π‘
If some features (such as sleep control or heart rate monitor) are missing after Russification, check the firmware version. You may have a lightweight version of the software installed without all sensors, in which case download the full firmware from Xiaomi's official website and repeat the update.
4. Russification through Settings Reset: When It Works
Sometimes, the simplest reset to factory settings helps unlock hidden language options, a technique that is especially relevant if you have bought the bracelet with your hands and donβt know its previous settings.
How to Reset Smart Band 7:
- On the bracelet, go to Settings β Reset (icon with a wrench).
- Confirm the action by clicking the tick. The bracelet vibrates and reboots.
- After reset, connect the device to Mi Fitness again and select Russian when you first set up.
β οΈ Warning: Reset removes all data from the bracelet, including activity statistics and notification settings. Sync the data with the app before the procedure!
If the reset didnβt help, try the combined method:
- Reset the bracelet to factory settings.
- Remove the Mi Fitness app and install it again.
- When you first connect, select the region "Russia" and the language "Russian".
π‘
Resetting is the safest way to Russify, but it only works if the bracelet firmware initially supports Russian. CN- versions require additional actions (region change or firmware).
5. How to check the firmware version and its compatibility with the Russian language
Before you try to Russify the bracelet, make sure that its firmware allows it.
- On the bracelet, go to Settings β About the device.
- Find the firmware version string (e.g., 1.17.0.14).
- Compare it with the current versions on the official Xiaomi website.
Minimum firmware versions with support for Russian:
- π Global version: 1.15.0.0 and higher.
- π¨π³ CN- version: 1.17.0.14 (requires manual firmware).
- πͺπΊ EEA- version (Europe): 1.16.0.0 and higher.
If the firmware version is outdated, update it via Mi Fitness:
- Open the application and go to the Device Profile β Firmware Update.
- If the update is available, click Download and Install.
- Wait until the process is complete (the bracelet will reboot automatically).
What to do if the firmware update is suspended?
6 Russification of notifications and additional functions
Even if the main interface of the bracelet became Russian, notifications from applications (such as WhatsApp or VK) can come in English or in the form of characters.
How to set up Russian notifications:
- In Mi Fitness, go to Device Profile β Notifications.
- Enable the option to display the contents of notifications.
- Select applications that must be duplicated on the bracelet.
- Make sure the language of the smartphone is set in Russian β the bracelet takes the text of notifications directly from the phone.
Owners of CN- versions may need to install a third-party application, such as Notify & Fitness for Mi Band.
- π© Configure notification templates in Russian.
- π Bypass the limitations of the original software.
- π¨ Customize the bracelet interface.
β οΈ Warning: Third-party apps may conflict with Mi Fitness. Before using them, turn off notification synchronization in the official app.
π‘
If you have an iPhone, for the correct operation of notifications in Russian, additionally configure permissions in iOS Settings β Notifications β Mi Fitness. Enable the options "Allow notifications" and "Show on the lock screen."
7. Frequent mistakes and how to avoid them
When russifying Xiaomi Smart Band 7, users often make the same mistakes that lead to failures.
- π« Use unofficial firmware from questionable sources, which can lead to loss of functionality or even "bricking" of the bracelet, download firmware only from trusted forums (4PDA, XDA) or the official Xiaomi website.
- π Interrupting the firmware update process. If the bracelet stopped responding during firmware, don't panic -- wait 10 to 15 minutes. Premature shutdown can damage system files.
- π± Account and firmware region mismatch, for example, if your account is tied to China and you are trying to install global firmware, sync errors may occur.
- π Low battery power during firmware. Make sure the bracelet is at least 50% charged before upgrading. Otherwise, the process may be interrupted.
If the bracelet after unsuccessful Russification is not included or hung on the logo, try:
- Connect it to charging for 30 minutes (sometimes it helps to wake up the battery).
- Reset to factory settings (press the button for 15-20 seconds).
- If nothing helps, contact the Xiaomi service center (but note that a self-contained firmware can deprive you of warranty).
